Abstract

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.) merupakan tanaman tropis yang memiliki kemampuan melindungi kulit dari paparan sinar matahari. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas tabir surya ekstrak etanol daun M. speciosa kuantitatif menggunakan spektrometri UV-Vis. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Kandungan metabolit sekunder secara kualitatif dilakukan menggunakan skrining fitokimia. Aktivitas tabir surya diuji menggunakan lambda 290-320 nm dengan interval 5 nm. Ekstrak etanol daun M. speciosa diperoleh sebesar 86,09 gram (17,218%) dan pada konsentrasi 250 ppm menunjukkan adanya aktivitas tabir surya dengan nilai SPF sebesar 8,433. Daun kratom asal Kalimantan Selatan berpotensi sebagai produk kosmetik tabir surya. Kata Kunci: Kratom, Spektrofotometri UV-Vis, Tabir Surya, Flavonoid Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.) is a tropical plant that has the ability to protect the skin from sun exposure due to the presence of flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to determine the sunscreen activity of the M. speciosa leaves ethanolic extract, quantitatively by UV-Vis spectrometry. Extraction was carried out by maceration method in 96% ethanol. The content of secondary metabolites were qualitatively determined using the phytochemistry screening study. The sunscreen activity was tested using 290-320 nm (5 nm intervals). The ethanol extract of M. speciosa leaves was obtained by 86.09 grams (17.218%) and with a concentration of 250 ppm showed sunscreen activity with an SPF value of 8.433. Kratom leaves from South Kalimantan have potential as a sunscreen.

Abstract

Daun Sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) mengandung metabolit sekunder antara lain tannin, alkaloid, terpenoid, steroid, dan flavonoid. P. canescens merupakan tanaman asli Kalimantan Selatan yang berpotensi sebagai perawatan kulit alami berdasarkarkan kandungan tannin yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sehingga dapat dikembangkan sebagai produk tabir surya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan nilai SPF dan tannin total fraksi etil asetat daun Sungkai (P. canescens) menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Metode ekstraksi dilakukan dengan maserasi menggunakan etanol 96% dan penggunaan fraksi n-heksana dan etil asetat. Penentuan tanin total menggunakan standar katekin dengan konsentrasi 40,60, 80, 100 dan 120 ppm. Hasil kadar tannin total sebesar 0,5586% ±0.01516 ekivalen katekin dan nilai SPF sebesar 5.703±0.021. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan daun Sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) dapat dikembangkan sebagai tabir surya alami.  Kata Kunci: Daun Sungkai, Tabir Surya, Tannin Total, UV-Vis, SPF  Sungkai leaves (Peronema canescens Jack). contains secondary metabolites i.e tannins, alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, and flavonoids. P. canescens, natural plant from South Kalimantan, has potential benefits as natural skincare based on tannin which contains antioxidant activity that can be developed as a sunscreen product. This study aimed to determine the sun protection factor (SPF) and total tannin ethyl acetate fraction of sungkai leaves (P. canescens) using UV-vis spectrophotometry. The extraction method was maceration with 96% ethanol and the fraction used n-hexane and ethyl acetate. The determination of total tannin with catechin standards concentration 40,60,80, 100 and 120 ppm. The result of total tannin was 0.5586% ±0.01516 catechin equivalents and the SPF value was 5.703±0.021. The conclusion of the research is that Peronema canescens Jack can be developed into natural sunscreen.

Abstract

Many biscuits circulating in the community are not labeled and do not include the value of water and protein content in accordance with SNI. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the water content and protein content in the biscuits. Determination of water content and protein content in biscuits was carried out on 2 biscuit samples taken at the Banjarbaru Market. The water content test on the sample was carried out by the gravimetric method and the protein content test was carried out by the Kjeldahl method. The results obtained were the test of water content of 2 biscuit samples respectively at 4.43% and 3.84%. While the results of the protein content test from 2 samples are 5.31% and 6.89%, respectively. According to SNI 01-2973-2011 the water content limit does not exceed 5% while the protein content limit is a minimum of 5%. The results of 2 samples showed the water content and protein content in accordance with SNI.

Abstract

Fermentation technology can increase added value to agricultural, food and other products. Through fermentation, raw materials can be converted into products with higher selling value, such as cheese, yogurt, tempeh, wine, beer, and so on. Many fermented products are beneficial for health, for example kefir and yogurt which contain good probiotics. for digestion. Kefir is a type of fermented milk whose manufacture uses various microorganisms to produce lactic acid products with by-products such as ethanol, free fatty acids and acetaldehyde. Kefir is made by adding yeast which contains many microorganisms from the lactic acid bacteria and yeast groups, while yogurt is fermented milk with lactic acid bacteria (LAB).  This service activity aims to increase people' knowledge and skills regarding the application of fermentation technology, starting from the meaning of fermentation, fermentation methods to high-value products produced from the fermentation process. In this activity, socialization activities were carried out regarding the development of fermentation technology, especially kefir and cow's milk yogurt, as well as practices on how to make it among the residents of Balitra Jaya Permai Loktabat Utara. The results show an increase in residents' knowledge and skills regarding fermentation through pretest and posttest activities as well as practical activities.

Abstract

The traditions of balulur and batimung are still carried out today. One of the production places for cucumber scrub in the city of Banjarmasin is Ipah Zein MSME. The cucumber scrub product by Ipah Zein MSME is a concoction that has been passed down from generation to generation and has been producing cucumber scrub for three generations. During these three generations, the making of scrub and timung was still done traditionally. The quality of this product needs to be improved so that it can still be marketed. The implementation of this service aims to improve the quality dimensions of Ipah Zein MSME timung scrub products, both product quality and packaging quality. Activities will be carried out from April to December 2021 at the Ipah Zein timung scrub production house. The method used begins with preparation, then implementation of activities and evaluation of activities. Activities that have been carried out include modernizing equipment in the production process, assisting production according to Good Cosmetic Manufacturing Practices, mechanizing packaging equipment and improving traditional cosmetic packaging designs. The results show that the service activities have been carried out well, where there has been an increase in the quality of Ipah Zein MSME timung scrub products, both product quality and packaging quality. Service partners have been equipped with knowledge about Good Cosmetic Manufacturing Practices, given equipment that supports this and the product has a more attractive design and is more acceptable to the marketKeywords: scrubs, timung, quality Tradisi balulur dan batimung masih dilakukan sampai saat ini. Salah satu tempat produksi lulur timung di kota Banjarmasin adalah UMKM Ipah Zein. Produk lulur timung oleh UMKM Ipah Zein adalah ramuan warisan turun menurun dan sudah memproduksi lulur timung selama tiga generasi. Selama tiga generasi tersebut, pembuatan lulur dan timung masih dikerjakan secara tradisional. Produk ini perlu ditingkatkan kualitasnya agar tetap dapat dipasarkan. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan dimensi kualitas produk lulur timung UMKM Ipah Zein, baik mutu produk maupun mutu kemasan. Kegiatan dilakukan pada bulan April sampai Desember tahun 2021 di rumah produksi lulur timung Ipah Zein. Metode yang dilakukan diawali dengan persiapan kemudian pelaksanaan kegiatan dan evaluasi kegiatan. Kegiatan yang telah terlaksana meliputi modernisasi peralatan pada proses produksi, pendampingan produksi sesuai Cara Pembuatan Kosmetik yang Baik (CPKB), mekanisasi alat pengemas dan peningkatan desain kemasan kosmetika tradisional. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian telah terlaksana dengan baik dimana terjadi peningkatan kualitas produk lulur timung UMKM Ipah Zein, baik mutu produk maupun mutu kemasan. Mitra pengabdian telah dibekali pengetahuan mengenai CPKB, diberikan peralatan yang menunjang hal tersebut dan produk telah memiliki desain yang lebih menarik dan lebih dapat diterima pasar.Kata Kunci: lulur, timung, kualitas

Abstract

The use of traditional medicine by the community is generally only in the form of a decoction, this method is considered less effective and practical because the heating temperature is not controlled which can cause damage to the compounds in the plant. The service was conducted to increase the interest and skills of the community in Penyambaran Village, Karang Intan Subdistrict, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province on processing techniques and how to make good traditional medicine. The results showed an increase in community understanding with an average Post-test of 89.583 compared to an average Pre-test of 45.833. This shows that socialization has been able to increase community interest and understanding related to plants that can be used as traditional medicine, processing, packaging, storage, and drug registration.

Abstract

Bangkal (Nauclea subdita (Korth.) Steud.) is a type of plant originating from South Kalimantan that contains antioxidants so it can protect the skin from sun radiation. This study aims to identify secondary metabolites and sunscreen activity based on the Sun Protecting Factor (SPF) value of the ethanol extract of N. subdita leaves. Identification of secondary metabolite compounds was carried out using a tube test. Testing of sunscreen activity was carried out by determining the SPF value in vitro using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer instrument. The results of phytochemical screening tests on the ethanol extract of N. subdita leaves contain alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, saponins, steroids, and tannins. The results of testing the activity of sunscreen from the ethanol extract of N. subdita leaves which had the highest SPF value was at a concentration of 250 ppm with an SPF value of 11.369 which was categorized as maximum protection. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kandungan fitokimia dan aktivitas tabir surya berdasarkan nilai Sun Protecting Factor (SPF) pada ekstrak etanol daun N. subdita. Kandungan fitokimia dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji tabung dan pengujian terhadap aktivitas tabir surya dilakukan secara in vitro dengan menentukan nilai SPF menggunakan instrumen spektrofotometer uv-vis. Hasil pengujian skrining fitokimia pada ekstrak etanol daun N. subdita mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, fenolik, saponin, steroid, dan tannin sedangkan hasil pengujian aktivitas sebagai tabir surya dari ekstrak etanol daun N. subdita yang memiliki nilai SPF paling tinggi adalah pada konsentrasi 250 ppm dengan nilai SPF sebesar 11,369 yang dikategorikan memiliki proteksi maksimal. Abstract

Cempedak (Artocarpus integer) is known to contain phenolic compounds. Phenolic compounds are secondary metabolites of plants included in marker compounds that act as natural antioxidants because they have hydroxyl groups that can reduce free radicals. Plants containing phenolic compounds are known to have strong antioxidant activity. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity and levels of marker compounds from ethanol extracts of cempedak leaves in various solvent variations. Cempedak leaves were dried in an oven and then powdered. Cempedak leaf powder was extracted using methanol, 70% ethanol, 96% ethanol using the maceration method, and distilled water was extracted using the boiling method. The extract was tested for antioxidant activity using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl) method based on the IC50 value. Determination of marker compound levels using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent with a gallic acid comparator using a UV-Vis spectrometer instrument. The total phenolic content determination test results were expressed as gallic acid equivalents per gram of extract (GAE/g extract). The results of the antioxidant activity test showed the IC50 value of the methanol extract was 84.48 ppm (strong), the distilled water extract was 54.74 ppm (strong), the 70% ethanol extract was 72.21 ppm (strong), and the 96% ethanol extract was 24.55 ppm (very strong). The results of the marker compound determination showed the total phenolic content of the methanol extract was 28.22% w/w, the distilled water extract was 22.59% w/w, the 70% ethanol extract was 29.55%, and the 96% ethanol extract was 31.14% w/w. It can be concluded that the cempedak leaf extract extracted with 96% ethanol has very strong antioxidant properties and the highest marker compound content among other solvents. For further analysis, 96% ethanol solvent can be used for the cempedak leaf extraction.

Abstract

The cause of melanoma cancer is exposure to high-intensity ultraviolet rays from sunlight. Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) utilizes the people of the interior of Kalimantan to protect their skin from sunlight by attaching leaves to the face or skin. Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) contains flavonoid compounds, which are thought to impact these various properties. This study aimed to determine the ultraviolet protection ability and total flavonoid levels of Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) leaves. Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) leaves originating from Central Kalimantan were cleaned, dried in an oven, ground, and then extracted with air solvents, 70% ethanol, and 96% ethanol. Flavonoid identification was carried out with specific reagents, and total flavonoid levels were determined by colorimetric method using quercetin as a comparison. The ultraviolet protection ability of Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) leaf extract was measured using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer with the Sun Protection Factor parameter. The results showed the presence of flavonoids in the third extract. The total flavonoid content of air extract, ethanol 70%, and ethanol 96% from Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) leaves were obtained respectively at 1.69%, 2.15%, and 2.38%. The most extracted flavonoids were in ethanol 96%solvent. The ultraviolet protection ability at a concentration of 100 - 500 ppm from air extract was in the range of 2.80 - 7.99, in ethanol 70% extract in the range of 5.69 - 38.39, while in ethanol 96% extract in the range of 8.76 - 49.07. The highest ultraviolet protection was in 96% ethanol extract from Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) leaves. The results showed that Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila) leaves can provide ultraviolet protection with the content of active compounds of the flavonoid group. The research results can be scientific evidence for utilizing and developing products from Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila).

Abstract

South Kalimantan has a unique topography that includes tidal areas and swamps, and peatlands. One of the natural resources that grows well in this area is the galam tree (Melaleuca cajuputi). Traditionally, this plant has been used to treat various inflammatory conditions, such as intestinal inflammation, sore throat, itchy skin, and rheumatism. M. cajuputi contains flavonoid compounds that are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of ethanol extracts and n-hexane fractions of M. cajuputi leaves from South Kalimantan using a protein denaturation inhibition method with IC50 values as the parameter. Sodium diclofenac was used as the positive control in this study. The results of the anti-inflammatory activity test showed that the IC50 values for sodium diclofenac, ethanol extract, and n-hexane fraction of M. cajuputi leaves were 14.948; 51.577; and 61.700 ppm, respectively. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the IC50 value of sodium diclofenac and those of the ethanol extract and n-hexane fraction. Based on the study conducted, it can be concluded that the ethanol extract and n-hexane fraction have anti-inflammatory activity, although their potency is lower than that of sodium diclofenac
