Abstract

This community service program aims to innovate in the manufacture of products made from Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) and catfish (Pangasius spl) in Kuok Village. The method applied in this activity is the socialization and trial of making catfish satay wraps and Moringa leaf sponge cake. The target communities in this activity are women in Kuok Village who are members of the Kuok Village PKK and the community around the Lontiok Kandil Kemilau Emas House. This activity resulted in a new perspective in the Kuok Village community in empowering women to support the household economy by innovating and participating in trials of making catfish satay wraps and Moringa leaf sponge cake.

Abstract

Drug abuse is still prevalent among the public, especially among the younger generation. Efforts have been made to prevent drug abuse among teenagers and students, one of which is by socializing on the dangers of drugs and prevention. Socialization is believed to be the most effective and economical way to prevent drug abuse. Socialization methods include discourse, questioning and discussion. This socialization aims to improve understanding and provide information regarding drug hazards and prevention. There is an increase in student knowledge compared to before socialization. So that students' awareness of the dangers of drugs is better and students are able to guard themselves and be alert to the spread of drugs.

Abstract

The empowerment of fishing communities aims to increase capability, independence, and prosperity in the fisheries sector. Empowerment is part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of fish farmers and groups in Kampung Buatan Baru, Kerinci Kanan District, Siak Regency, Riau Province, in utilizing fishery resources sustainably, optimizing economic and social potential, and improving welfare. The objectives of this empowerment program are as follows: 1) Fish farmers can increase their capacity and skills; 2) Fish farmers can have access to fisheries resources; 3) Fish farmers can diversify their business in the fisheries sector. The empowerment activities for fish farmers are through direct counseling and demonstration plots for fish ponds. This activity will be carried out from June to August 2024. Activities include the socialization of empowerment programs, planning fisheries extension programs, implementing extension programs, monitoring programs, and evaluating programs. Measuring changes in the impact of this program was carried out by conducting pre-tests and post-tests on participants. The impact analysis results of this activity are changes in fish farmers' knowledge, attitudes, and skills in managing gourami and catfish cultivation businesses. Thus, assistance is needed for fish farmers so that the sustainability of cultivation businesses in Kampung Artificial Baru, Kerinci Kanan District, Siak Regency, Riau Province can be carried out well.

Abstract

The Mastali Madu group is confronted with significant challenges in the marketing of its fish macaroni snacks. These challenges primarily stem from the group’s limited product variety in terms of flavor options and the absence of distribution permits, which restricts its marketing opportunities. To address these issues, a community service activity was conducted in the form of diversifying fish macaroni snacks into various flavors, with the aim of accelerating the competitiveness of the Mastali Madu group’s local products. The implementation methods included assistance in the diversification of fish macaroni snacks with various flavors and the procurement of product distribution permits. The findings of the activity demonstrated an enhancement and the capacity in the group members’ to manufacture fish macaroni snacks with diverse flavors, including grilled corn, BBQ, and balado. These snacks were found to possess a palatable taste, a crispy texture, and 86.67% extremely like of panelists’ hedonic level. From an economic perspective, the product has demonstrated added value in comparison to previous iterations, offering a diverse range of flavors and holding a-P-IRT license, thereby facilitating market expansion. The conclusion of this activity is that the implementation of diversified fish-flavored macaroni snacks can serve as one strategy to accelerate the competitiveness of local products, while also enhancing skills, self-reliance, and business opportunities for the Mastali Madu Group.
