Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of video-assisted discovery learning to improve the critical thinking skills of elementary school students. The approach is qualitative to the type of classroom action research. The research subjects were 20 students and 1 teacher at fourth-grade Public Elementary School 35 Pammanu, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The approach is qualitative with the type of classroom action research (CAR). This research was carried out in two cycles on sains with force and motion material. Each cycle is completed in two learning meetings. Observation, tests, and documentation obtained data. The data analysis procedures used are condensation, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the learning process using video-assisted discovery learning showed changes in student learning activity and engagement, learning interaction, learning atmosphere, and student learning focus getting better. The category of students' critical thinking skills has increased from 60% of students in the sufficient and very critical categories in Cycle I to 85% in Cycle II. Thus it can be concluded that implementing discovery learning assisted by video media can improve the learning process and students' critical thinking skills in the science learning in fourth-grade Public Elementary School 35 Pammanu, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.

Abstract

Low storytelling ability is still one of the problems in language learning. Therefore, this study describes the process and results of implementing actions in the form of Big Book media integration in the ARIAS learning model to improve students' storytelling ability. The research approach is qualitative, with the type of classroom action research. The study subjects were teachers and 22 UPTD SD Negeri 81 Parepare, South Sulawesi third-grade students. Data collection techniques were in the form of observation, storytelling skills tests, and documentation. The research instruments were observation sheets and storytelling skills assessment sheets. Data was analyzed through condensation, presentation, and conclusion or verification. The study results showed that integrating Bigbook in the ARIAS learning model helped students be involved in the learning process because they actively practiced reading and storytelling individually and in groups with the help of visualizations in the Bigbook. Changes in the process led to increased storytelling ability; in the first cycle, only 31% of students were in the Good category, and in the second cycle, the remaining 14% were still in the Sufficient and Fewer categories. This study concludes that integrating the Bigbook into the ARIAS (Assurance, Relevance, Interest, Assessment, Satisfaction) learning model can improve students' storytelling ability.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of the learning process and student learning motivation through the index card match (ICM) learning model with QR code cards. The approach to this research is qualitative with the type of classroom action research. The focus of the study is the learning process and student learning motivation. One teacher and 15 students at fifth-grade UPTD SD Negeri 57 Parepare were the study subjects. Data collection techniques were in the form of observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The research instruments were observation sheets, reflection sheets, and student learning motivation questionnaires. Data were analyzed through condensation, presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The study's results showed that various changes in the learning process occurred through ICM with QR code card games. Students' enthusiasm was seen during learning; they became more actively involved, showed good collaboration with their group friends, and showed self-confidence. In the first and second cycles, there was no significant increase in learning motivation, and in the third cycle, 75% of students were in the Good or Very Good category. The conclusion is that using the ICM learning model with QR Code Cards can improve learning and student motivation.
