Abstract

Introduction: Parenting Self Efficacy (PSE) is the conviction of parents for their ability to manage and perform tasks related to parenting. Pain after caesarean childbirth can reduce the ability and lower confidence in caring for the babies. Counseling on postpartum mother is an effort to increase confidence in caring for the baby. This study was aimed  to test the effect of counseling given to mothers after caesarean section to increase PSE.Methods: The study used a quasi experimental with pre-test and post-test with control group. Number of research subjects were 66 divided into an experimental group and control group. Subject who pass the inclusion criteria, given the questionnaire and conducted pre-test with parenting selfefficacy scale (PSEs), given counseling and provide booklets in the experimental group, while the control group only given booklets. Measurements were made with instruments of parenting self-efficacy scale (PSEs). The statistical test used was paired t-test and independent sample t-test.Results: Increased PSE significant score after the intervention in the experimental group and the control group (6.19 ± 0.93 vs 7.54 ± 0.71, P = 0.001; 5.56 ± 0.85 vs 5.87 ± 0 , 68, P = 0.001). Changes in scores after the intervention were significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group (1.35 ± 0.58 vs 0.31 ± 0.26, p = 0.000).Conclusion: Counseling by using booklets effect on parenting self-efficacy in women after caesarean section.

Abstract

Introduction: Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is a common vaginal condition produced by overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria. Stress can alter women’s reproductive health in many ways; one of them is increasing the risk for bacterial vaginosis. In facing stressful life conditions, resilience plays an important role to maintain optimal function and prevent traumatic experience. Methods: This research was an analytical observational study with cross sectional design. Questionnaires were given to 104 women in reproductive age between November 2013 and January 2014. Resilience and stress were assessed using The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) and Self Reporting Questionnaire respectively, and bacterial vaginosis status was diagnosed using Amsel’s criteria. Statistical analysis was performed using chi square test and multiple logistic regressions. Results: Bivariate analysis showed significant relations between resilience (p=0,005), stress (p=0,002), frequency of sexual intercourse within 1 week (p= 0,015) and the bacterial vaginosis incidence. Multivariate analysis showed stress was the most influential factor OR=3,9 (95% CI=1,478–10,562).Discussion: Resilience and stress were significantly with increased risk of having bacterial vaginosis.

Abstract

Introduction: Knowledge about reproductive health is very important for adolescents. They can make informed decision on their reproductive health. One of important media that serve as the source of information on reproductive health in adolescents is website. The objective of this study was to find out the relationship between the use of web-based information and knowledge about reproductive health in adolescents.Method: A Cross Sectional was conducted from February 2013 to April 2014, involving the Tenth and Eleventh Grade students of SMA, SMK, MA in Ponorogo Regency. The study was conducted in schools with computer facilities and internet connection, involving 210 adolescents, who were selected using Simple Random Sampling technique. The data was collected by questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted in univariate, bivariate with using Spearman Rank test, and multivariate ways using logistic regression test. Results: The study showed that mean website access frequency and duration for information about reproductive health by adolescents were 1.36 times a week and 1.65 hours; knowledge about reproductive health was 58,1% in low category; and no relationship was found between the use of web-based information system and knowledge about reproductive health in adolescents, even though there was an increasing trend in the frequency and duration of website visits for information related to reproductive health in adolescents.Discussion: The use of web-based information system does not have a significant relationship with knowledge about reproductive health in adolescents. Further research is necessary to explore the same subject with a different method, which is not selecting the respondents in the first meeting and use a closed questionnaire to select the respondents. This way, the adolescents will feel free and open to the researcher.

Abstract

Introduction: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is any abnormal carbohydrate intolerance that begins or is first recognized during pregnancy. The presence of GDM has important implications for both the baby and the mother. Objective:  This study explored life experience of pregnant woman with GDM in maternal role attainment. Methods: This was a phenomenological approach qualitative research. Participants were 12 mothers who gave birth to a maximum of 1 year with a history of GDM selected by purposive sampling technique with sampling criteria. Data analysis used the Colaizzi method (2011). Results: There were eight categories, e.g. the experience of the mother in GDM diagnosis; the influence GDM of the pregnancy; mother's experience in trying hard to   keep her pregnancy; a variation of life experience of mothers during pregnancy, childbirth, and post-delivery; the perception of mother of her role being a mother, the factors that support the development and achievement of the maternal role attainment; the mother's experience in integrating the identity of her role as mother; gap and the desire of the mother with GDM in receiving health services. Life experience of GDM mothers in achieving  maternal role attainment has a diversity. Discussion: Pregnant mothers with GDM experience various maternal role attainments. They cannot attain the role optimally.

Abstract

Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a significant global health issue, requiring vigilance and adherence to health protocols to prevent transmission. This study aimed to develop an interprofessional collaborative model based on community sectoral coordination. Methods: A mixed-methods explanatory research design was employed, involving 934 respondents selected through convenience sampling. The research instrument was a modified version of a validated and reliable questionnaire covering interprofessional collaboration, community health nursing, alertness, compliance, and resilience. The data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) to test the model's fit and predictive relevance. Results: The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.772, indicating that 77.2% of the variance in interprofessional collaborative community sectoral coordination could be explained by individual, team, task, and work structure characteristics, as well as community leaders and cross-sectoral factors. The remaining 22.8% was attributed to other variables not included in this study. The Predictive Relevance (Q²) value was greater than 0, suggesting that the model was adequately predictive. Significance testing showed that the exogenous variables had a significant impact on endogenous variables with a total T-statistics value of 1.96 or P value <0.05. Conclusion: The developed interprofessional collaborative model based on community sectoral coordination significantly enhances community alertness, compliance, and resilience, contributing to the achievement of COVID-19 herd immunity.

Abstract

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a global health challenge that persists in causing both health emergencies and mental health crises around the world. This study aimed to analyze the factors contributing to COVID-19 infection and their impact on mental health crises on Java Island. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between June and July 2020 on Java Island, Indonesia, involving 1,218 respondents selected through convenience sampling. The independent variables included demographic, individual internal, and psychological factors, while the dependent variable was mental health crisis occurrence. Data were collected through demographic information, knowledge and attitude questionnaires, depression anxiety stress scores, the brief-COPE inventory, as well as surveys addressing encountered problems and mental health emergencies. The collected data underwent analysis using chi-square and multivariate logistic regression. Results: Significance was observed in the relationship between demographic, individual internal, and psychological factors, and their impact on mental health crises (p < 0.05). Following adjustment with logistic regression, psychological factors exhibited a more pronounced relationship, with the highest association observed in stress levels (p = 0.000, 95% CI: 1.064-2.131). Conclusions: Individual stress levels emerged as the foremost contributing factor to mental health crises. Psychological elements, encompassing anxiety levels, stress, coping mechanisms, and encountered challenges, played substantial roles in disrupting psychological well-being and mental health.
