Abstract

The development of technology can be beneficial for both lecturers to support the teaching and students in language learning progress. Artificial Intelligence has gained particular attention in language instruction these days. It served as a useful addition to language instruction, particularly when it came to teaching pronunciation. Informatics students at the Islamic University of Riau had a lack of pronunciation, especially in pronouncing things about computers in English. Because of that reason, the researcher helped them to find a suitable application that could improve their pronunciation ability. The purpose of this study was to explore the way students learn speaking through mobile application use in the Informatics Engineering Department at the Islamic University of Riau and to know their perception of using ELSA Speak as an Automatic Speech Recognition application. Quantitative methods were used to measure the percentage of students’ perceptions after using the ELSA Speak application.

Abstract

This study does a meta-analysis of three study programs to examine the applicability of the various strategies and methodologies suggested in this research project related vocabulary learning or lexical knowledge. The results demonstrated that the learners' lexical knowledge strategies encompassed cognitive, metacognitive, social, willpower, and memory techniques. Additionally, this study looked into the relationship between the background, circumstance, approach, context, and therapy using a vocabulary acquisition strategy. The findings indicated that while the instructors used particular teaching methods in accordance with their curricula and preferred distinct methods, the L2 beginners came from diverse backgrounds and situations. The study's findings suggest that in order to effectively encourage Instructors at STKIP Muhammadiyah Pagaralam should be well aware of the significance of employing proper techniques of teaching English (ELT) to new EFL students in order to develop their vocabulary.

Abstract

UMKM (Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah) di Kota Pekanbaru memiliki peran signifikan dalam mendukung perekonomian lokal. Namun, tantangan dalam keterampilan pemasaran digital dan keterbatasan anggaran seringkali menghambat perkembangan UMKM. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas pemasaran digital UMKM melalui pelatihan desain konten promosi menggunakan aplikasi Canva. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan pada 13 Agustus 2024 di Rumah BUMN Kota Pekanbaru dengan peserta yang tergabung dalam kelompok UMKM Rumah BUMN Pekanbaru. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif, yang melibatkan dosen sebagai narasumber, mahasiswa sebagai fasilitator, dan praktisi Canva sebagai pendamping praktik. Kegiatan diawali dengan pretest untuk mengukur pemahaman awal peserta, dilanjutkan dengan penyampaian materi teoritis tentang pemasaran digital dan praktik langsung menggunakan Canva. Peserta diajarkan teknik pembuatan konten visual untuk keperluan promosi di platform media sosial seperti Instagram dan Facebook. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta tentang desain konten digital, yang tercermin dari perbandingan skor pretest dan posttest. Peserta juga menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan dalam pembuatan konten visual yang menarik dan konsisten. Pelatihan ini berhasil memberikan dampak positif terhadap kemampuan peserta dalam menyusun strategi pemasaran digital secara mandiri, mengurangi ketergantungan pada desainer eksternal, dan meningkatkan daya saing produk di pasar digital. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model yang efektif untuk diterapkan di berbagai komunitas UMKM lainnya sebagai bagian dari strategi pemberdayaan ekonomi berbasis teknologi digital.

Abstract

Gotong royong represents a fundamental traditional value within Indonesian society, functioning as a means of grassroots empowerment and fostering social resilience. This community service initiative took place in RT 02/RW 08, Jl. Arjuna, Labuh Baru Timur Village, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence. The program aimed to involve residents actively in environmental restoration efforts. Community members collaborated to clean drainage systems and enhance public spaces, thereby promoting sustainable environmental practices and strengthening social cohesion within the neighborhood.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity intends to enhance the comprehension and foster teachers’ creativity and competence. Teachers require comprehensive support in English instruction, utilizing textbooks that offer contextual learning to address diverse needs and learning styles. The Emancipated Curriculum grants teachers with greater freedom in designing and executing learning processes that cater to student needs, highlighting a flexible and student-centered methodology. The PkM team organized an activity to promote Riau Malay culture via social media. This activity employed a methodical approach consisting of several stages: first, the introduction and utilization of integrated textbooks on Riau Malay culture; second, the enhancement of English language skills for the promotion of Riau Malay culture; and third, the evaluation process. The research findings indicate a notable enhancement in teachers' English language proficiency, achieving scores of 4 or 5 (High), particularly in the aspect of writing and speaking, which are interwoven with local cultural knowledge. This demonstrates a significant accomplishment of a primary objective, specifically the enhancement of teacher competence. Google Classroom has demonstrated efficacy as a platform for collaboration and the dissemination of Malay cultural materials in English. This research suggests the development of more proficient teachers capable of enhancing regional cultural diversity for a broader audience via digital technology, while also boosting students’ motivation through pertinent and engaging material

Abstract

Pelatihan Maksimalisasi Media Sosial sebagai Sarana Digital Marketing bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan Kelompok Usaha Gula Merah Nira Sawit di Kampung Meredan Barat dalam mengoptimalkan media sosial sebagai alat pemasaran digital yang efektif. Program ini muncul sebagai respons terhadap kebutuhan pelaku usaha untuk memperluas jangkauan pasar, meningkatkan angka penjualan, serta memperkenalkan produk secara lebih luas di era digital. Metode pelatihan meliputi pemaparan materi, praktik langsung, serta sesi diskusi interaktif yang berfokus pada pemanfaatan platform media sosial, khususnya TikTok, sebagai sarana promosi. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup strategi pembuatan konten kreatif, optimalisasi fitur media sosial, teknik pemasaran digital, serta cara efektif mengelola interaksi dengan pelanggan. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta dalam mengelola media sosial, terutama TikTok, sebagai alat pemasaran. Selain itu, pelatihan ini juga mendorong pelaku usaha untuk lebih inovatif dan aktif dalam membangun keterlibatan dengan konsumen melalui platform digital. Sebagai kesimpulan, pelatihan ini memberikan kontribusi positif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan digital marketing bagi Kelompok Usaha Gula Merah Nira Sawit. Dengan demikian, mereka dapat memperluas pasar, memperkuat daya saing, serta berkontribusi terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Budaya literasi merupakan suatu budaya yang dapat menjadi acuan sebagai kualitas sumber daya manusia di sebuah negara. Budaya membaca Masyarakat Indonesia masih sangat rendah, meski Indonesia seringkali menjadi role model bagi negara-negara di Kawasan Asia Tenggara. Permasalahan ini dapat diatasi dengan membangun koneksi yang baik dengan generasi Z melalui bedah buku.  Kisah-kisah inspiratif dari novel kontemporer dapat membantu meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam membaca maupun menulis. Melalui pendekatan expressivist writing, penulis mengajak generasi Z untuk mencintai membaca dan menulis fiksi melalui kisah pengalaman hidup. Setelah itu, penulis mengajak peserta didik menulis fiksi atau narrative text sebagai pemantik agar siswa memiliki motivasi menulis. Hasil yang didapat ialah sudah Sebagian besar siswi memahami teknik menulis yang baik dan benar sesuai dengan petunjuk yang disampaikan.

Abstract

Character education is the foundation for instilling good morality in children. Unfortunately, the rapid development of information technology today still cannot match the role of parents as the first teacher to educate children. In this case, the role of the family, especially parents, is very important as role models or role models that children can emulate in their environment, both at school and at home. Elementary school-age students generally like animated films or cartoons. However, not all animated films or cartoons can teach good values and strengthen character to elementary school students. The animated film Nussa and Rara was chosen because this animated film provides many examples of manners and manners towards parents and teachers as well as manners in getting along with friends. Worship education is also demonstrated without being frontal or forced to instill an understanding of the importance of worship from an early age. Watching the animated film “Nussa: The Movie” has been proven to help influence good values as character strengthening for students, especially to filter the flow of technology and information.

Abstract

Writing in English is still challenging and requires a strong ability in grammar. Besides, communicating ideas through the English language is still difficult for some students. This study aims to analyse the students’ perceptions through the use of the Grammarly application to help with writing skills and the TED Talk application to help improve speaking skills. The use of these applications is to help students in English skills that have grown these recent days, as well as the development of technology. Research participants include 15 students of SMKS Yapim Pekanbaru, department of Network and Computer Engineering. The research methods for the study included a questionnaire, as well as in-depth interviews that were conducted to explore the students’ perception of using TED Talk and Grammarly applications. Both applications will make students more involved in learning English, especially speaking and writing. Because of its practicality dan ease of access, the students are not difficult to use. The conclusion is that there have been some students who can write their ideas with the help of the Grammarly application and also watch TED Talk, then present them in front of the class.

Abstract

Teaching for young learners is more challenging since the characteristics of young learners are quite different from adults. Younger learners are growing up by technology and it has been integrated with their lives. They feel comfortable and confident on using it. The purpose of this study is to examine the teachers' perception on learning English through technology and to identify the challenges. This study used qualitative descriptive research to perceive the use of technology in teaching young learner including the challenges and to obtain more conclusions, the researcher made an depth interview with a teacher in one of primary school. The results of the research showed that the teachers are mostly agreeing to teach English for young learners by using technology, including digital picture, games, and songs. For the challenges, the teachers faced the lack of students' concentration and difficulties in saying some words because of mother tongue. This is happened because the students are lack of exposure to English outside classroom. To overcome these challenges, the teacher should be creative making a pleasant classroom atmosphere, actively engaging students to speak English in the classroom and do self-reflection.
