Abstract

This article aims to examine the dynamics of sarcasm language use by students of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) in their interactions on Instagram social media. The urgency of this research arises from the observation that sarcasm, although often used as a communication tool, frequently leads to misinterpretations and interpersonal conflicts in the digital context that lacks non-verbal cues. This study adopts a qualitative case study approach with a constructivist paradigm, using thematic analysis techniques to interpret data obtained through in-depth interviews and observation of social media activities. Data validity testing was conducted through source triangulation to ensure the reliability of the findings. The research results indicate that students have significantly varied understandings of sarcasm, which is often misinterpreted as serious communication, leading to undesired emotional reactions. In the segment "Social Cognition: Student Poll on Sarcastic Comments on Instagram," it was found that although students could identify sarcasm, emotional reactions to sarcasm varied, indicating a need for higher digital literacy to effectively manage and process information in social interactions. The discussion in this article emphasizes that sarcasm on social media, while being a dynamic expression tool, requires deep contextual understanding to avoid misinterpretation. Therefore, enhancing media literacy is crucial to help students understand communication nuances and reduce the risk of misunderstandings in digital interactions. This study highlights the importance of effective digital literacy education, which not only enhances students' communication skills but also prepares them to navigate the complex and often ambiguous digital ecosystem.

Abstract

This study is entitled communication strategy of Nagori Sayur Matinggi Health Center in inviting people to vaccinate. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the community received the vaccination message given by the Matinggi vegetable Health Center and the innovation applied by the Matinggi vegetable Health Center and whether it could be accepted by the community. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method using data collection techniques such as observation interviews and documentation, where in this study the subject of research is the Nagori Sayur Matinggi Health Center in inviting people to vaccinate. The focus of research in this study is how the Health Center invites the public to want the vaccine. The results of this study are Nagori Sayur Matinggi health center in their socialization explained several uses of vaccines, vaccines that can stimulate the immune system, reduce the risk of transmission, reduce the severe impact of the virus and they explained that the vaccine is safe for us because there are clinical trials and evidence. the Nagori Sayur Matinggi Health Center conducts innovations or ideas in disseminating the importance of vaccination to the community by door to door innovation.

Abstract

Tamban fish is also one type of fish that is widely caught in the east coast area, namely coal, tamban fish includes having an affordable fish price with other fish prices. The main problems include Riziq's lack of interest and skills related to product diversification in adding economic value to tamban fish products, as well as a lack of understanding of the economic potential in Nenas Siam Village. The implementation of community service activities was carried out by providing information through lectures, discussions, and direct assistance in product diversification demonstrations. The purpose of the socialization of making tamban fish crackers is to improve skills and knowledge in developing tamban fish products, as well as increasing the economic value of tamban fish. The target of this socialization activity is the mothers of perwiritan, PKK Nenas Siam Village, and Riziq's partners. The results of this socialization activity are high quality tamban fish crackers with a spicy and savory taste. In addition, the women and PKK also gained skills in making tamban fish crackers and knowledge about the development of diversified tamban fish products in the Nenas Siam Village area.

Abstract

Humans were created on this earth for a special reason, namely to be leaders (khalifah) and servants on earth, Allah gave various potentials to humans which are then expected so that humans can and are able to develop these potentials through formal and informal education. So that all the potential that is owned can be put to good use Islamic education is an education that is expected to hone every potential that an individual has. In order to get the position as expected by Allah SWT. This educational process is strongly influenced by several factors in the process of individual development, such as heredity (al-waritsah), environment (al-biah), human freedom (at-taqhayyun) and the guidance of God that students have. The purpose of this study is to see how the relationship between the elements of heredity (al-waritsah), environment (al-biah), human freedom (at-taqhayyun) and God's guidance in contemporary Islamic education. This type of research is library research, namely research that examines material objects, works and then the source of the data obtained from books, journals, and various types of reports and documents. So the elements of heredity, environment, human freedom, and God's guidance are very influential in the development of contemporary Islamic education especially in this era of globalization humans are faced with many educational and individual moral challenges, humans realize that basically, humans have the freedom to choose whatever has been given by Allah SWT, it's just that so that this freedom is not misused, the task of education is to guide, teach, and educate so that individuals are directed to the right path. With the existence of contemporary Islamic education students and educators can become a vessel in learning activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this research to identify and analyze the development of government expenditure, economic growth, poorness, and unemployment. And to identify and analyze the effect of government expenditure on economic growth, on poorness, and on unemployment in the Muaro Jambi Regency the period 2002-2013. Based of this research are the development average of government expenditure in the amount 18,1%, the development average of PDRB in the amount 17,75%, the development average of poorness in the amount -1,36%, and the development average of unemployment in the amount 43,60%. The analysis used is a simple regression method. The result is government expenditure has a positive value and a significant effect on economic growth (PDRB), government expenditure has a negative value and significant effect on poorness, and government expenditure has a positive value and has no effect on unemployment.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation dynamics of the State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) of North Sumatra into the State Islamic University (UIN) of North Sumatra by highlighting its socio-historical context, institutional challenges, and strategic approaches. Employing a historical approach, the research investigates policy changes, the impact of globalization, and curriculum adaptation as integral components of the transformation process. The main research question focuses on how institutional strategies and contextual factors have shaped this transition. Findings suggest that the success of the transformation is closely linked to the implementation of strategic policies, enhancement of human resource capacity, and the institution's commitment to integrating religious sciences with general disciplines. The study concludes that this transition reflects not only an administrative upgrade but also a paradigm shift toward a more holistic educational model in response to both national reforms and global academic trends.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the patterns of use, motivations, and the positive and negative impacts of Instagram on students at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five students who actively use Instagram. The results indicate that Instagram is accessed almost daily, particularly during leisure time at home or school breaks. The most frequently used features include Stories, Reels, and Direct Messages (DM). The primary motivations for using Instagram are entertainment, information seeking, and self-expression. Socially, Instagram has a positive effect by helping students maintain friendships and express their identities. However, it also poses negative impacts, such as disrupting concentration and causing social pressure through self-comparison. Therefore, it is crucial for adolescents to manage their time effectively and use social media responsibly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze how people from different ethnic backgrounds interact with each other while doing business at Matsum City Halat Traditional Market. This research is a qualitative descriptive research, therefore the research method used in this study reflects this. The type of data presented through observation and interviews using primary data is the source of informant data. The sources of this informant data include traders at Matsum City Halat Traditional Market, books and journals that can be downloaded from the internet, and several documentation files that can be obtained directly at Matsum City Halat Market. Huberman and Johnny Saldana are the ones who will be able to get qualitative data analysis with an interactive model developed by Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael. This method of analysis was chosen for use in this particular study. The findings of this study show that the utilization of convection and divergence communication tactics is accurate whenever these traders engage in conversation with each other. Based on an analysis of 6 speakers' linguistic, idiomatic, intonational, mental, and gestural approaches to their interactions, we found that 4 (four) traders often use convergence communication tactics indirectly. The other two people use different communication strategies in their contacts, which means they don't seek to change their innate attitudes or behaviors when engaging with others.

Abstract

This article examines the persuasive communication model in culinary content produced by the Instagram account @maumakanchanel, which serves as a popular reference for promoting local culinary businesses in Medan City. The urgency of this study lies in the role of social media as a strategic promotional platform for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), where visual and narrative communication acts as the primary instrument in influencing public consumption preferences. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach aimed at illustrating the dynamics of messages and persuasive communication strategies in digital content. Data collection techniques include content observation, in-depth interviews with eleven informants comprising account owners, administrators, and active followers, as well as digital documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, encompassing data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that persuasive message construction is formed through a combination of central and peripheral routes as outlined in the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), emphasizing communicator credibility, appealing food visuals, and emotionally engaging, distinctive language styles. The study concludes that the integration of authentic communicator motivation, visual-verbal strategies, and an in-depth understanding of audience dynamics is crucial for the success of culinary communication on social media.

Abstract

Bagi pasangan suami istri, hubungan intim adalah sesuatu yang biasa dan wajib dilakukan. Para peneliti dan dokter kesehatan, baik dari Eropa dan Amerika atau bahkan Indonesia menyatakan bahwa semakin sering pasangan melakukan hubungan intim maka semakin baik dan semakin sehat. Disisi lain juga berhunbungan intim ini juga menjadikan pasangan lebih harmonis dan bahagia, bahkan seorang suami mungkin akan hilang gairahnya seksualnya terhadap wanita lain karena telah merasa cukup dengan pasangan sah-nya. Namun terkadang beberapa pasangan merasa jemu dengan cara, metode ataupun gaya dalam berhubungan. Sehingga tidak jarang mencari referensi lain untuk meraih kepuasan biologis dalam berhubungan. Maka cara termudah adalah dengan menonton film dewasa dari internet atau kaset yang didapatkan dari para penjual ilegal. Hal ini menjadi sesuatu yang baru dan mungkin tidak pernah terjadi pada masa-masa terdahulu sehingga secara sederhananya menjadi bahan perbincangan antara ahli fikih kontemporer. Berdasar hasil yang diperoleh dari beberapa literasi, umumnya para ulama berpebdapat tentang haramnya menonton video dewasa walaupun bersama istri sekalipun.
