Abstract

The lack of valid and reliable test instruments to measure junior high students’ spatial visualization skills, especially regarding the Pythagorean Theorem, prompted this study. The goal of this research is to assess the quality of spatial visualization test items related to the Pythagorean Theorem for junior high students. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach with Rasch Model analysis via Ministep software. The developed instrument included 11 essay questions administered to 30 ninth-graders through purposive sampling. Results showed that 5 items were valid, while 6 needed revision. The instrument’s reliability coefficient was 0.91 (high). Based on difficulty, there were 3 easy, 2 moderate, and 6 difficult items. This instrument meets Rasch Model standards and is suitable for measuring junior high students’ spatial visualization abilities concerning the Pythagorean Theorem, serving as a reference for designing more accurate and representative math assessments..

Abstract

LKPD berbasis STEM  dapat berguna untuk meningkatkan  bahan ajar disekolah guna meningkatkan kompetensi siswa,  salah satunya meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa SMP. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tren dan fokus penelitian terkait LKPD berbasis STEM terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif Matematis Siswa SMP. Sebanyak 500 artikel yang sesuai dengan kriteria kata kunci  hasil penelusuran data menggunakan aplikasi Publish or  Perish (PoP) pada tahun 2019-2024. Data  disimpan dalam bentuk Microsoft Excel sebagai bahan pengolahan data dan disimpan dalam bentuk RIS untuk digunakan pada software VOSviewer untuk mendapatkan pemetaan dalam mencari tren publikasi. Hasil analisis juga menunjukkan bahwa topik yang jarang diteliti terkait studi Mathematical Creative Thinking terkait dengan Pendekatan STEM. Celah ini akan menjadi ide dasar untuk Mathematical Creative Thinking selanjutnya. Ini merupakan gap penelitian yang dapat bermanfaat bagi penelitian selanjutnya atau menjadi novelty dalam penelitian selanjutnya. Keterbatasan penelitian ini adalah data yang diambil berasal dari Google Scholar, diharapkan untuk penelitian selanjutnya bisa mengambil sumber dari database yang berbeda seperti database Scopus.

Abstract

The limited availability of valid and reliable numeracy literacy test instruments, particularly in the algebra domain, for junior high school students in preparation for the Minimum Competency Assessment exam makes this research important to conduct. This study aims to describe the quality of a numeracy literacy test instrument in the algebra domain for junior high school students. It is a quantitative study with a descriptive approach. This method is used to describe the quality of the numeracy literacy test instrument in the algebra domain, which was developed based on Rasch modeling. The research procedure comprises three main phases: item development, limited trial testing with 8th-grade students, and item quality analysis using the Rasch model analysis with the Winsteps software. The developed numeracy literacy test instrument consists of 12 essay questions. The instrument was then used to collect quantitative data from 34 8th-grade students selected as research respondents through purposive sampling. The results indicate that one item is categorized as invalid (requiring revision), while the remaining items are deemed valid. The reliability index is 0.80, which falls into the ideal category. The analysis of item difficulty levels reveals that one item is categorized as difficult, nine items as moderate, and two items as easy. Overall, the developed algebra numeracy literacy instrument meets the criteria of Rasch modelling, although one item requires revision. Teachers can use this instrument as an assessment tool to evaluate students' algebraic numeracy literacy skills in junior high school. This instrument can also serve as a model for developing numeracy literacy test instruments in other domains.
