Abstract

Abstract

This study explains the Islamic economic perspective on cryptocurrency, in this case, in the light of maqashid shariah. This research was a literature study and qualitative in nature. The data analysis applied a descriptive-analytical technique with a normative juridical approach to Islamic law. The results of this study conclude that cryptocurrency has a much greater element of mafsadah than maslahah. It is an investment commodity rather than a currency with a very high level of risk and volatility that reflects the mafsadah. This is the attraction of a new investment model because it only follows the trend of global market developments that are far from the function and benefits of currency in the perspective of Islamic economics.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the concept of Homo Islamicus so that it is not merely a static theological ideal, but rather an adaptive and practical model of economic behaviour capable of addressing the complexities of the modern market. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method to critically analyse the theoretical construct. Data was collected through a literature review of books, academic journals, and relevant academic documents. The data analysis method employed in this study was inductive and contextual, thereby yielding a comprehensive understanding. The findings indicate that the concept of Homo Islamicus is normatively relevant in explaining the economic behaviour of contemporary Muslims in economic decision-making. However, this study indicates a gap in Homo Islamicus between the ideal nature of the concept and the reality of economic practice. In practice, inconsistencies were found between religious values and the economic behaviour of Muslims, which is influenced by environmental and social factors, as well as global market pressures, alongside a lack of internalisation of Islamic economic values. The study’s limitations highlight that Homo Islamicus remains largely normative and philosophical in nature, making it difficult to realise empirically within actual economic practices dominated by conventional systems. There is a gap between the ideal and the reality of actual behaviour, where Muslim individuals are still frequently caught up in materialistic consumption patterns.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the Profit-Sharing Rate, Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), and Third-Party Funds (DPK) on the growth of mudharabah deposits at Bank Muamalat Indonesia. The ARDL-ECM method is applied within this quantitative research to explore the inter-variable relationships more deeply. Through this framework, the study identifies both temporary short-term correlations and stable long-term relationships. The results indicate that, simultaneously, all three variables significantly influence the growth of mudharabah deposits. Partially, in the long run, all variables show a positive and significant effect, whereas in the short run, only DPK remains significant. These findings suggest that profit-sharing stability and capital strength play a crucial role in driving sustainable deposit growth, while short-term dynamics are more heavily influenced by fund-raising intensity. The novelty of this research lies in the use of the ARDL-ECM approach to detect differences in Sharia customer behavior toward banking indicators across two distinct timeframes

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT) in empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the integration of Maqashid Sharia principles and financial inclusion strategies. Despite the strategic importance of MSMEs in economic growth and poverty reduction, many face challenges in accessing formal financial services. BMT, with its dual function of social (maal) and commercial (tamwil) activities, offers a unique platform to bridge this gap. Using a qualitative systematic literature review guided by PRISMA, this study analyzes 30 relevant articles to examine BMT operational models, implementation of Maqashid Sharia objectives, financial inclusion practices, and their impact on MSME performance. Findings indicate that BMT effectively supports MSMEs in capital access, income generation, and business resilience, but inconsistencies in balancing social and commercial objectives limit. holistic empowerment. Integrating Maqashid Sharia principles enhances ethical and sustainable outcomes, while financial inclusion expands outreach to underserved entrepreneurs. Optimization strategies, including strengthening institutional capacity, combining financial and non-financial support, and context-specific interventions, are essential for maximizing BMT effectiveness. This study contributes a comprehensive framework linking ethical, financial, and empowerment dimensions, offering practical guidance for policymakers and BMT managers in promoting inclusive and sustainable MSME development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomena of information asymmetry and moral hazard in e-commerce through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach from an Islamic economics perspective. The rapid growth of e-commerce, particularly social commerce, has increased consumers’ reliance on digital information such as ratings, reviews, and product reputation, which do not always reflect actual product quality. This condition leads to information asymmetry between sellers and buyers and creates opportunities for moral hazard behavior, including the manipulation of reviews, ratings, and product information. This research employs a qualitative method using an SLR approach based on the PRISMA framework to select relevant literature published between 2021 and 2025. The data are analyzed using thematic analysis to identify keythemes related to information asymmetry, moral hazard, their impact on consumer behavior and market efficiency, and the perspective of Islamic economics. The findings indicate that information asymmetry is the primary factor causing market distortion, while moral hazard emerges as a consequence of weak transparency and monitoring in digital systems. These phenomena contribute to decreased consumer trust, distorted perceptions of product quality, and market inefficiency. From an Islamic economics perspective, such practices contradict the principles of honesty, transparency, and fairness, and can be categorized as forms of gharar (uncertainty) and tadlis (fraudulent misrepresentation). This study concludes that integrating conventional economic approaches with Islamic economic principles is essential to develop a digital ecosystem that is not only efficient but also just and sustainable.
