Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive narrative review of the integration of corpus linguistics and discourse analysis, examining how methodological and contextual factors influence the field. The objective is to assess the role of corpus methodologies in enhancing discourse analysis while identifying key challenges and future directions. A systematic search of major databases including Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar was conducted using targeted keywords related to corpus linguistics and discourse analysis. Inclusion criteria prioritized peer-reviewed empirical and theoretical studies published in the last decade, while irrelevant and non-scholarly works were excluded. The analysis identified four major themes: technological integration, pedagogical applications, policy and institutional contexts, and socio-cultural influences. Results show that technological tools have greatly improved linguistic analysis, though regional disparities in access persist. Pedagogical applications demonstrate improved student outcomes, yet adoption varies across educational cultures. Policy frameworks were shown to shape discourse in areas such as migration and public health, while socio-cultural factors were found to be critical in constructing identities and narratives. The discussion highlights systemic barriers including funding inequalities and political restrictions, as well as opportunities for methodological innovation through integrated frameworks and collaborative research. The review concludes that advancing corpus linguistics in discourse analysis requires both methodological pluralism and systemic reform, with implications for education, policy, and global discourse studies.

Abstract

This study aimed to 1) describe the types of speech acts used by members of the English Students Association (ESA), and 2) explore the communication strategies applied within the association. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with 20 ESA members as the subjects. The data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The findings revealed that the members of ESA employed locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts in their daily communication. Common speech acts identified included warning, requesting, inviting, suggesting, promising, refusal, and commanding. Furthermore, communication strategies such as politeness—both positive and negative—were evident, with members often using direct and indirect forms of communication to achieve their goals. The results also indicated that ESA members were interested in and actively engaged in utilizing speech acts and communication strategies in their interactions. This was evidenced by the average questionnaire score of 82.30, categorized as high interest. The findings suggest that understanding and applying speech acts and communication strategies enhance the effectiveness of communication within the organization.

Abstract

Abstract

The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and human creativity has emerged as a dynamic area of exploration, particularly with the development of generative AI models like GPT-4, DALL·E, and MidJourney. These tools not only automate tasks but also actively contribute to creative processes, resulting in collaborative co-creation between humans and machines. This study investigates the evolving role of AI in creative industries, analyzing secondary data from literature published between 2022 and 2025. By examining key theoretical frameworks, methodologies, and trends, the study identifies the methodological shift from experimental design to reflective frameworks, highlights a lack of unified definitions for co-creation, and emphasizes the growing need to engage with the cultural and ethical implications of AI in creativity. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of machine–human co-creation, its implications for authorship, and the future trajectory of creative partnerships between humans and AI.
