Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate teaching materials for listening skills in fairy tale texts that integrate the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) model and the PAKEM (Active, Creative, Effective, and Enjoyable Learning) approach to bridge the pedagogical gap in junior high schools. The research method uses an ADDIE-based research and development (R&D) model, involving 128 students and 12 Indonesian language teachers in Padang City as participants. Data were collected through test instruments, observations, and expert validation, then analyzed using a mixed-methods design with concurrent triangulation. The results show that the developed materials have very high validity (M > 97%), reliable instruments, and context-specific effectiveness (tcalc = 4.70 > tcrit = 1.70). The practicality of the materials also reached a high level with a PAKEM score of 84.36%, although the active learning aspect still requires optimization. It is concluded that the holistic synthesis of TPS and PAKEM produces a valid, effective, and practical listening instructional product in the tested classroom context. The implications of this research emphasize the urgency of providing "ready-to-use" materials as a pedagogical bridge for teachers, as well as the need for ongoing scaffolding to transform listening from a passive activity into an enjoyable, student-centered, socio-cognitive event.

This type of research is mixed methods or commonly known as mixed research methods. The mixed model used is a 4-D model consisting of four stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. This research was conducted on students of class X of State High School 2 Padang. Innovative learning media are indispensable by students to be used independently in the learning process Indonesian. Therefore, research in interactive e-book models is used as one of the alternatives to overcome the limitations of learning media in exposition text reading skills. The results of this study describe the making of an interactive e-book model based on local wisdom of exposition text reading skills with a validity value of 94.44% with a very valid category. Based on the feasibility aspect of content obtained validity value of 97.50% with a very valid category. Based on the aspect of eligibility of validity, obtained a validity value of 89.28% with a very valid category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the interactive e-book for reading skills reading the exposition text of students of class X is valid and can be continued to the next stage.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the potential of contemporary Indonesian children's literature as a catalytic medium in the teaching of religious values, religious literacy, and character formation among students in Islamic elementary schools (madrasah ibtidaiyah). Employing a qualitative approach and content analysis, the research explores the representation of values related to aqidah (faith), akhlaq (ethics), and ibadah (worship) within ten selected novels from the Kecil-Kecil Punya Karya (KKPK) series published by Mizan. The findings reveal that children’s literature is capable of conveying Islamic teachings in a contextualized manner, using narratives that resonate with the world of young readers. Values such as birrul walidain (respecting parents), prayer, Qur’an recitation, and wearing the hijab are portrayed through the behavior of main characters, dialogues, and storylines that are simple yet profoundly meaningful. Furthermore, children’s literature contributes to enhancing empathy, moral awareness, and the religious identity of young readers. The study also finds that integrating children’s literature into the madrasah curriculum can serve as an effective strategy for strengthening character education rooted in Islamic values. Through a non-dogmatic approach, children's literature facilitates the natural and enjoyable internalization of religious values. As an implication, teachers and policymakers are encouraged to utilize children’s literature as an integral component of thematic learning in Islamic schools.

Abstract

Poetry writing often presents significant challenges for university students, primarily due to difficulties in conceptualizing abstract ideas and organizing them into coherent literary structures. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by mind mapping media on the poetry writing skills of undergraduate students majoring in Indonesian Language and Literature Education. A quantitative approach with a one group pretest-posttest design was employed, involving 47 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a poetry-writing performance test that had been tested for content validity (Aiken's V) and inter-rater reliability, then analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, N-Gain Score, and Cohen's d effect size. The results showed that the mean pretest score of 79.26 increased to 85.85 in the posttest, with the hypothesis test indicating a significance value of p < 0.001, confirming that the PjBL model assisted by mind mapping significantly improved students' poetry writing skills. The average N-Gain Score of 0.285 fell into the medium category, with a large effect size of 0.906. Direct quotations from students' poems further corroborated the quantitative evidence of improvement in diction, imagery, and structural aspects. This study contributes theoretically and practically to the development of creative writing instruction in higher education.
