Abstract

In order to provide an alternative asphalt mixture that is more durable, various efforts have been made to improve the quality of asphalt, therefore research is needed on polymer modified asphalt by replacing some of the asphalt with cigarette filter waste. In this study, cigarette filter waste was substituted into asphalt with proportions of 2%, 5%, and 8%. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of cigarette filter waste that affects the AC-WC mixture based on marshall characteristics and residual stability. The optimum asphalt content (KAO) used was 5.1%, with the results showing that the addition of cigarette filter waste affected the marshall characteristic values, namely the specific gravity value, Voids Filled with Asphalt (VFA), and the highest stability was at a variation of 2%, while the Voids in Mix (VIM), Void in Mineral Aggregate (VMA), and the highest flow. were at a variation of 8%. The residual stability index test showed that water affected the durability of the AC-WC mixture, as evidenced by the highest value in the 24-hour immersion variation with a cigarette filter content of 2% which decreased with increasing immersion time. The addition of cigarette filter waste into the AC-WC mixture has met the Bina Marga Specifications in the Marshall characteristic test, but the change in the residual stability index was only at a soaking time of 24 hours, while for other periods it did not comply with the Bina Marga specifications.

Abstract

The background of this research is that plastic waste is abundantly available around us and has not been optimally utilized. Pedestrian which is also the right of pedestrians with disabilities has not been well organized in Indonesia. The use of plastic waste materials is an alternative to solving environmental problems. The utilization of plastic as a substitute for cement will also reduce the carbon effect of cement as a building material. With its light weight when compared to disabled terrazzo tiles on the market, it is hoped that it can facilitate the application of smart pedestrian blocks as pedestrian paths and disabilities. The purpose of this research is the utilization of plastic waste as used as composite thermoplastic waste brick as well as an alternative eco friendly material. The experimental method used normal paving, 45% plastic waste, 55% plastic waste, and 65% plastic waste. The test results show that the average compressive strength for paving with 45% plastic waste has a compressive strength of 9.16 MPa higher than normal paving which is only 8.56 MPa. This shows that the use of 45% plastic waste as an effective substitute for cement in paving is also an environmentally friendly solution. In addition to reducing plastic waste, it also reduces the need for cement.

Abstract

Agriculture, livestock, and fisheries are key sectors that support the economic life of the majority of the Purwosari village community. They face environmental and social vulnerabilities, while also facing economic vulnerability. This is achieved by transforming traditional technologies currently used by the community to increase fisheries yields and downstream marketing through Free Nutritional Meal Kitchens (MBG) in the surrounding Wonogiri area. Strengthening village human resource development through the empowerment of Appropriate Technology (PTTG) in Purwosari Village, Wonogiri, aims to encourage energy independence in the economic activities of community groups. This includes strengthening the human resources of the Purwosari village community health post (Posyantek) for the construction of 200W solar cell TTGs and 2000W converters, solar-powered pond water pumps, and the construction of aquaculture ponds; and for freshwater fisheries. In general, the assembly of solar-powered water pump models can be adapted to field conditions and market availability. The core of this assembly is converting the electricity supply from the state electricity company (PLN) into electricity from natural sources (sunlight). The necessary equipment includes: Solar panels/solar cells (photovoltaic), controller, inverter, battery, cables, and mounting frame. The life cycle cost calculation for a solar-powered fisheries system at the PSDA Community Group (Pokmas PSDA), with solar-powered pumps and lights, shows a cost efficiency of Rp. 61,600,000 – Rp. 19,665,000 = Rp. 41,935,000 (assuming the equipment's life cycle cost is 10 years), resulting in a cost savings of 67%.   Keywords: Fisheries, PSDA Community Group, Solar Energy, TTG

Abstract

ABSTRACT Vector-borne diseases, particularly mosquitoes like Aedes aegypti, remain a serious public health issue in Indonesia. One environmentally friendly solution is the use of mosquito-repellent plants such as citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), which contains active compounds such as citronellal and geraniol, which have been proven effective as natural repellents. This community service program aims to provide training to residents on how to make mosquito repellent spray from citronella, while also encouraging the potential for home-based businesses based on natural ingredients. The implementation method includes counseling, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in spray making. The results showed that participants experienced an increase in their understanding of dengue fever by 30%, the benefits of citronella by 33%, extraction skills by 55%, spray formulation by 57%, and packaging by 40%. This activity also succeeded in fostering entrepreneurial interest among participants. Thus, this training not only provides a preventive solution to vector-borne diseases but also opens up opportunities for economic growth based on local potential.   Keywords: Vector-borne diseases, Citronella-based repellent, Community empowerment
