The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The level of depression wasmeasured using the Geriatric Depression Scale instrument. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test tosee before-after differences in the intervention group and the control group. Mann-Whitney analysis wasused to determine the effect of therapy between the intervention group and the control group after theintervention. The results showed that the value of p = 0.001 (p <0.05), which means that the combination ofreminiscence therapy and progressive muscle relaxation therapy can significantly reduce the level ofdepression in the elderly with hypertension. The combination of reminiscence therapy and progressivemuscle relaxation is useful for reducing depression in the elderly and is recommended as a nursing therapy

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a common chronic disease in the community that requires prevention through a healthy lifestyle and high Self Efficacy to manage it effectively. Ling Tien Kung exercise therapy, a non-pharmacological approach for hypertension, involves body movements focusing on two core exercises: empet-empet anus and jinjit-jinjit. This study aims to assess the impact of Ling Tien Kung exercise therapy on Self Efficacy and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Methods: The research employs a pre-experimental one-group pre-post test design, with 45 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Conducted twice a week over three weeks, data were collected using the General Self Efficacy Scale (GSES) questionnaire and a blood pressure observation sheet. Results: Analysis with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test revealed significant improvements in Self Efficacy and reductions in blood pressure before and after the intervention (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that Ling Tien Kung exercise therapy positively affects Self Efficacy and blood pressure in hypertensive patients, suggesting it can be a valuable complementary therapy for managing hypertension.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Kecemasan, Lansia, Penyakit Kronis, Relaksasi Otot Progresif  ABSTRACT Elderly people experience significant changes in physical, psychological, and social aspects as they age. The aging process causes a decline in body functions that can potentially trigger chronic diseases. This condition can impact the psychosocial conditions of the elderly, one of which is causing anxiety. One anxiety management strategy that can be done in the elderly is progressive muscle relaxation (ROP) training. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and ability of the elderly in managing anxiety. This community service program was carried out through the ROP education and skills practice method on 49 elderly who regularly participate in Posbindu activities at Posbindu Dahlia Senja, Limo Village. The results of the activity showed that the average age of participants was 65.35 years, where the majority of elderly were female (93.9%). Based on the results of measurements using the Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS), it was known that the majority of elderly experienced mild anxiety as much as 55.1%, moderate levels 36.7% and severe levels 8.2%. After the ROP education and practice activities, the average score of the elderly's level of knowledge regarding anxiety increased by 42.02. The results of the observation also showed that the majority of elderly were able to perform ROP practice movements correctly. A community service program involving education and practice of progressive muscle relaxation (ROP) can improve older adults' knowledge about anxiety and their skills in managing it. This intervention can be used as an alternative to improve their ability to manage anxiety independently. Keywords: Anxiety, Elderly, Chronic Disease, Progressive Muscle Relaxation
