Abstract

This study will analyze the social exchange between fishing workers and skippers in Mandar Village, Sumenep Regency, Madura. The research method used is qualitative research. This study uses the exchange theory of George Homans. Social exchanges that occur between fishing workers, namely fishermen workers form a group of fellow fishermen workers, in this group fishing workers exchange information about work. Social exchange between independent fishermen and fish collectors occurs because they need each other, independent fishermen when experiencing difficulties will be assisted by fish collectors which causes independent fishermen to continue to sell their fish to the same fish collectors. Social exchange between fishing workers and fishermen who own capital, namely laborers if they experience difficulties, will be assisted by their bosses so that workers will respond by cleaning and disposing of water from the boats belonging to fishermen who own capital even though it is outside of their job. Abstract

The increasing development of pop music has prompted the emergence of a music festival in Bali, namely the Soundrenaline music festival. There is a dialogical relationship that influences youth in particular to visit Soundrenaline. This study aims to describe and explain how Soundrenaline's articulation is for Balinese adolescents and Balinese adolescents' interpretation of Soundrenaline. This research uses a qualitative approach with an explanative descriptive type. The theory used in this research is the theory of cultural industry Theodor W. Adorno. The results of the field research show that the Soundrenaline music festival which has become a trend among teenagers has articulated teenagers from what has been displayed at the festival. As well as the adolescent interpretation formed by Soundrenaline's articulation, it makes adolescents consider Soundrenaline as a means of their pleasure. In the end, this unconsciously made Balinese teenagers dull in their critical power. Keywords: Articulation, Balinese adolescents, Soundrenaline music festival

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has raised public awareness of the importance of health. This is evidenced by the emergence of cycling trends during the Covid-19 pandemic, cycling is considered safe and implementing elements of health protocols, namely maintaining distance and without physical contact. This study aims to describe and explain why people choose cycling as a rational choice of sport during the Denpasar City pandemic and how its social impact is. The theory used in this research is James S Coleman's rational choice theory. The results of the field research show that considerations of costs, benefits, risk of infection and limited options are the basis for people to choose cycling and other factors are friends and social media. The positive social impact is new friends, new knowledge and increased enthusiasm for sports, the negative impact is population density and there are still many cyclists who do not obey the rules on the road. Abstract

This research aims to examine the concept, contextualization, and relevance of Guy Debord’s thought. The method used in this research is qualitative-exploratory with a bibliographic research type. The results of this research describe human alienation since the 20th century at its culmination. All moments of modern human life have rests on the logic of commodities. The practice of commodification here has to go through a process of spectacularization that requires additional fantasies for each commodity. In addition, this research found that the détournement method was manifested through the emergence of the art of shitposting. It is proven in this research that the fictional character Nurhadi-Aldo and the fictional comic Udayanagakure have emancipatory power and are able to catalyze changes in mindset—just like the pixel girl Miquela on Instagram.
