Abstract

Omed-omedan is a unique tradition in Bali, this tradition is located in Banjar Kaja, Sesetan Village, Denpasar. However, in its implementation, this tradition has often received sharp criticism from the public and the national media, this is due to the inclusion of inappropriate actions to be presented to the public. The purpose of this research is to re-understand the Omed-omedan tradition which has experienced shifts in both meaning and ritual in it, and to understand the social dimensions of this tradition. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive and explanative types. The theory used in this research is the constructionism theory of Clifford Geertz, Omed-omedan today has finally taken steps to improve their image, with the festival that accommodates this tradition, in line with Their Balinese Ajeg movement seeks to preserve this tradition so that meaning can be conveyed correctly. Abstract

Nowadays, online streaming services are becoming a favorite choice for the public, especially teenagers, to look for entertainment in the form of films or series. In this study, the author has the view that teenagers have their own motives and needs in subscribing to and consuming film series on Netflix. This is helped by Netflix's personalization, which provides recommendations for various viewing options that allow users to find the content to watch that they enjoy. This research uses descriptive-explanative research with a qualitative approach to explore the motives and influence of Netflix on the lives of teenagers in Makassar City using uses and gratification theory analysis. The results of this research indicate that Netflix media personalization is could to make it easier for users to get various shows and is able to trap teenagers to fulfill various motives of need in terms of productive and pseudo-needs fulfillment. Abstract

This study aims to describe and the phenomenon of habitus in class II B prison in Karangasem. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive and explanative types that aim to describe and summarize the habitus in Karangasem prisons. The theory used is the habitus theory of Pierre Felix Bourdieu. The results showed how different habits before and after entering prison can slowly influence mental structure through activities and discipline that are applied in prison. Habitus is influenced by domain and capital. The domain in this research is class II B Karangasem prison, while prison capital is the regulations and capital owned by officers, namely social capital, symbolic capital, and cultural capital. Habitus produces practices that are also influenced by doxa, heterodoxa, and orthodoxa, namely sanctions and attempts to destroy discourse through violations committed by WBP. Abstract

One of the cultural traditions in Bali that has been passed down through generations is ngayah. When the community customary wander village ulakan go, they would have obstacles taking the time to ngayah worn so they choose mogpog or dedosan. This research was conducted to analyze how the social influence of ngayah compensation with some money termed as mogpog or dedosan in Ulakan Traditional Village.The theory chosen as a scalpel in this study was Georg Simmel's Money Sociology. It is not always that social obligation ngayah which can be replaced with money where it will be able to provide a sense of relief and freedom for those who wander or migrant permanent and impermanently. Social actions such as tolerance, mutual understanding, and kinship that still exist in Ulakan Traditional Village is a good communal manners, therefore, it is good to be maintained. Abstract

This research is intended to explain Henri Bergson’s thought about laughter within the framework of sociological studies and analyze the contextualization social dimension of laughter related to its meaning and function in social interaction. In Henri Bergson’s treatise, the term comic has a funny meaning or ridiculous. Someone whose movements are comic is someone whose behavior contains the elements of mechanism and automatism, the movements without life. Laughter is used as a correction tool to punish those who act comic. Henri Bergson’s thoughts within the framework of sociological studies are included in the classification of the social definition paradigms and are elaborated in the theory of symbolic interactionism. A comedy can give a lot of information about comic, a comedy deliberately creates mistakes by overturning logic in both scenes or dialogues. Abstract

The research aims to analyze and explain the existence of the Village Consultative Body in carrying out its main duties and functions as a government organizer in Poco Ri'i Village, East Manggarai Regency. The Village Consultative Body is an interesting research object to study from a sociological perspective. This study uses Adam Smith's theory of bureaucratic pathology, analyzing the role and function of the Village Consultative Body which affects the sustainability of rural community democracy. Using a qualitative approach with this type of descriptive-explanatory research. The data collection method is applied to support the success, the accuracy of the research data. Through a series of applied methods, JURNAthe results of research that reveal the problems, roles and functions of the Village Consultative Body in Poco Ri'i Village, East Manggarai Regency, understand the important role of the Poco Ri'i Village Consultative Body. Abstract

The decrease in the number of domestic tourists visiting has made the Bali Zoo management make a strategy to maintain and increase visits in the new normal era. This study uses rational choice theory by James S Coleman as a scalpel to analyze Bali Zoo’s strategy in increasing domestic tourist in the Covid-19 pandemic era. In this case, the Bali Zoo is able to utilize resources that have a purpose as expressed by various statements of informants. Namely, ticket pricing strategies considering the situation and conditions in the new normal era such as student promos, additional programs such as breakfast activities with orangutans, mandatory health protocols, and social media as an information center and media liaison between Bali Zoo and outsiders. Abstract

This study focuses on the sociological study of the Pati ka ata mata Rite in the Lio Tribe Comtmunity in Paga Village, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. The purpose of his study is to describe and examine the sociological study of the pati ka ata mata rite in the Lio tribe. This research is a qualitative approach with descriptive-explanative type. The theory used as a scalpel in reviewing this research is Emile Durkehin's Traditional Religion Theory. The results of this study reveal that the Pati ka ata mata. ritua contains the principles of implementing the pati ka ata mata ritus, the purpose of the implementation of the pati ka ata mata Rite, sociological Dimensions of the Pati ka ata mata Rite, As a cultural rite, pati ka ata mata contains a sociological dimension. Abstract

This study analyzes and describes how readers in Denpasar City decode discourse on Covid-19 news that has been encoded and published by the Tribun Bali. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive explanative type. The theory used in this research is Stuart Hall’s encoding and decoding theory. Based on the theory, the writer groups the informants into three reader positions based on the perception given, namely the dominant hegemonic, negotiation, and oppositional positions. Through research conducted on five informants, the authors found that messages that had been encoded by Tribun Bali journalists were not always decoded symmetrically by the five informants. The author also finds that the five informants are not always in the same position as readers in every discourse on the encoded news and the position of the reader that is most often occupied is the dominant hegemonic position. Abstract

This study analyzes the role of parents in child sex education as an effort to prevent child marriage in Batujai Village, Central Lombok Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive explanative type and analysis using the role theory of Biddle and Thomas. Through research that has been done, it is known that in practice what happened in Batujai Village that not all parents provide sex education to their children due to lack of understanding of parents to provide sex education to children. Parents who do not provide sex education hand over the responsibility for sex education to formal and informal educational institutions. As for parents who provide sexual education to children, it is carried out with preventive socialization methods, namely by giving advice or prohibitions to children and repressive socialization methods, namely by giving punishments, namely limiting children's association or confiscation of facilities provided to children.
