Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of office design on employee’s productivity at Community Health Centre of Batang I, II, III and IV in Batang SubDistrict. The techniques of data analysis in this research includes validity, reliability, classic assumption test, t test, F test, the coefficient of determination  and multiple linear regression analysis to determine the effect of five variables office design. Respondents in this study were 118 employees. The results indicates that there are : furniture has positive and significant impact to the employee productivity, noise has negative and not significantly impact to the employee productivity, temperature has positive and significant impact to the employee productivity, lighting has positive and not significantly impact to the employee productivity and spatial arrangements has positive and significant impact to the employee productivity. Based on the result of the F test is known that a significant impact between variable of office design and employee productivity. Office design factors have 46,3% influence on employee productivity at Community Health Centre of Batang I, II, III and IV in Batang Sub-District, while 53,7% are influenced by other factors outside the office design factors. The result of this study can help Community Health Centre of Batang management make improvements or increases to office design factors in order to better employee productivity.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to measure employee work motivation at the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) Office in Magelang.Mixed methods approach was utilized in this study. The quantitative instruments were MWMS (Multidimentional Work Motivation Scale) and MAWS (Motivation at Work Scale) while interview was used for the qualitative instrument. The study involves 51 employees as the questionnaire respondents and 5 employees as interviewees.Based on the results of the quantitative and qualitative data, employees of Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) in Magelang have medium level of motivation to conduct their job. Implication for theory and practice were discussed.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to extend previous research on employee commitment to their organization within with the measurability and the fitness of the tested and reliable employee commitment scale items in a non-western culture within focus to investigate the effect of demographic characteristic (age, gender, education), tenure and pay satisfaction on affective commitment based background of the phenomena that occur in the commitment of contract  paramedical employees at the General Hospital of Semarang.This research was conducted at the General Hospital of the city  with A quantitative approachment.The data collection using five-point Likert scaled questionnaire administered to 75 contract  paramedical employees at the General Hospital of Semarang.The results indicates that there are no significant effect between both demographic characteristic (age, gender, education) and tenure on affective commitment.Conversely, the result indicate there is a positive significant correlation between pay satisfaction towards affective commitment at the General Hospital of Semarang.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the leadership style applied in Palupi Craft – a handicraft company specializing in batik bag and leather goods. Despite the continuous growth in company sales, the company owner was not able to describe the leadership style she implements in the company. To measure and determine the leadership style used in Palupi Craft, this study utilize Leadership Questionnaire developed by Bass and Avolio. The questionnaires were distributed to all Palupi Craft employees, and the results were described using descriptive technique.  This study reveals that the Palupi Craft owner tend to utilize transactional leadership style in managing her business. Discussion and recommendation for future research was also included.

Abstract

Basically nursing is recognized as one of the jobs that are full of pressure, so in this case work stress becomes one of the important issues that need to be considered among nurses. Stress on the nurses is caused by several factors derived from the role stressor. This study aims to analyze the effect of some kind of role stressors on turnover intention through job satisfaction among nurses. It was conducted on 146 nurses at the hospital at the Panti Wilasa Citarum  Semarang hospital. Analysis of structural equation model (SEM) was used to identify and explain the result from the relationship between each role stressors variable towards job satisfaction and turnover intention variable. All variables in this study were measured using 29 indicators.The result of this study indicate that role stressors variable  such as role ambiguity, role conflict, role overload, and work-family conflict are found to have a direct negative effect on nurse job satisfaction. But relationship between role ambiguity and role conflict variable are both statistically found to have an insignificant negative effect on job satisfaction variable. Job satisfaction was found to have a significant negative effect on turnover intention variable.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of training and development , compensation and competency on the performance of employees at PT . Pos Semarang . Problems that occur in this study is the training and development is uneven , the compensation system is not suitable for the employees and the lack of competence of employees.This study uses training and development, compensastion, and competency as the independent variables and employee performance as the dependent variable. This study uses a quantitative method as the data analysis by collecting questionnaires and doing interviews. The study involved 70 manager and asistant manager as trespondentsBased on the results of quantitative research , the level of influence of training and development, compensation and competency on employee performance is moderate . While training and development has no effect on the performance of the employee but compensation and competency have an influence on employee performance.

Abstract

Gender is not only about type of sex, but it is more about character, social role and identity in the society. Gender equality has not perfectly happened in workplace and also political issue. It caused of the incredulity of people about women leadership. However, in previous research we found that women and men are equal on their leadership capability. Therefore, this research aimed to identify leadership style, leadership effectiveness, and also challenges of men and women leaders in Indonesia.This research used qualitative method and case study approach. The main object of this research are men and women leaders in Indonesian government organizations. Moreover, this research investigated on subordinate, counterpart, and superior about leadership of those leaders.The result of this research revealed that men and women leaders are using transformational leadership style. And then, those leaders are considered equal on leadership effectiveness, and also have common challenges on task, communication, and their leadership

Abstract

Various types of leadership style exist and growth in the work environment of the organization. No exception, servant leadership. Nowadays, many organizations have tried to apply the concept of servant leadership in their operational practices, and AIESEC is one of them. This international leadership organization has a Leadership Development Model program that has the ultimate goal of inculcating the quality of leaders outlined in Leadership Development Qualities (LDQ). LDQ is what is felt to have in common with servant leadership. The purpose of this study is to find out how far the application of leadership that serves (servant leadership) in the life of the organization and daily life of AIESEC Undip’s alumnae and describe the values of servant leadership what is in them. In addition, this research is conducted to obtain information for the development of leadership programs in AIESEC.In this research, the sequential explanatory method is used. First, using the quantitative method, a modified servant leadership survey questionnaire was used to find out the alumni's assessment of the values of servant leadership in them. Then proceed with qualitative research conducted through interviews with the analysis of phenomenology approach, to dig deeper alumni experience related to the application of leadership values serving in their current organizational life. The reason for choosing the method is to explain in detail, because it is supported by answers to interviews that strengthen quantitative research, as well as design methods that are easy to explain and the exposure of results more easily reported.The results of this study show that leadership values that serve exist and have evolved in the alumni reflected in their experiences, as well as the AIESEC Leadership Development Model program can be said to be working well.

Abstract

The purpose of the this research is to find  the effect of work environment and leadership towards employee performance through the work discipline. Good level of employee performance and the low level of absenteeism indicates good discipline at Patra Jasa Convention Hotel Semarang. The respondents of this research are  employees of Patra Jasa Convention Hotel Semarang. Data collected through distribution of questionnaires towards 107 permanent employees with purposive sampling. However, only 105 data  can be processed. The techniques of data testing in this research includes validity test by factor analysis, reliability test, classical assumption test, multiple linear regression, path analysis, and the Sobel test to examine the mediation effect with SPSS 16.0.The results of this research indicates that work environment and leadership have positive influence on the discipline of work and employee performance. The analysis also shows that there is a mediation effect of work discipline on employee performance

Abstract

Competitive resource management is an important element of the company. The management of human resources will impact on the company's strategic plan. The success of corporate investment in human resources is determined by the success of employee retention strategies implemented.This study aims to determine what factors affect the retention of employees. After the observation of 15 previous studies on employee retention, 14 factors have been found to affect employee retention in various cultural contexts. These 14 factors are then selected through brainstorming of 8 employee retention experts consisting of 5 practitioners and 3 academics.The result of this research is that there are 6 factors that have the most influence on employee retention that is reward, compensation, leadership, career development, training and development, and job satisfaction. Then the best ranking achieved by reward.
