Abstract

Kegiatan budidaya ikan kerapu cantang (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus x lanceolatus)  seringkali terkendala akibat serangan penyakit yang disebabkan  oleh bakteri Vibrio alginolyticus. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan kombinasi madu dan patikan kerbau dapat mencegah ikan kerapu cantang dari serangan bakteri V. alginolyticus. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan tiga perlakuan yang masing-masing diulangi sebanyak tiga kali yakni 2 : 1, 1,5 : 1,5 dan 1 : 2. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama satu  bulan di  Jalan Fatudela 1 Liliba sedangkan pemeriksaan hematologi dilakukan di UPT Laboratorium Kesehatan Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Parameter yang diamati meliputi jumlah eritrosit, jumlah leukosit, pertumbuhan, kelangsungan hidup, morfologi dan gejala klinis. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kombinasi madu dan patikan kerbau tidak berpengaruh terhadap hematologi dan pertumbuhan ikan kerapu cantang (P>0,05), namun berpengaruh nyata terhadap kelangsungan hidup ikan kerapu cantang (P<0,05) dengan kelangsungan hidup tertinggi pada perlakuan 1:2. Hasil uji lanjut BNT menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan 1:2 berbeda dengan perlakuan 2 : 1 dan 1,5 : 1,5, begitu pula perlakuan 1,5 : 1,5 juga berbeda dengan perlakuan 2 : 1. Sedangkan hasil gejala klinis menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan 1 : 2 memiliki gejala klinis yang lebih ringan jika dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya.Kata kunci : Kerapu Cantang, Vibrio alginolyticus, Hematologi, Madu, Euphorbia hirta

Abstract

Saltwater ornamental fish have various species, many of which have been exported to various countries. One type of ornamental fish that can be kept in an aquarium is the clown fish (Amphiprion percula). However, clownfish tend to experience color fading when cultivated. This is caused by less than optimal food and lighting factors. The aim of this research is to determine the role of adding sweet potato flour (Ipomoea batatas) and ulva lactuca flour in feed to maintain the color of clownfish so that it remains as in nature and to support the growth of clownfish (Amphiprion percula). This research was carried out using four treatments and repeated three times, namely (1) F999 brand commercial feed, (2) 25% Ulva lactuca flour + 75% commercial feed, (3) 12.5% ​​Ulva lactuca flour + 12% sweet potato flour .5% + 75% commercial feed, (4) 25% sweet potato flour + 75% commercial feed. The parameters observed include color measurementsRed Green Blue (RGB) which is then converted to a color modelHue Saturation Brightness (HSB) and also growth. The research results show that fish color analysis usesHue Saturation Brightness (HSB), changes in hue values ​​tend towards yellow-orange colors. This shows similarities in maintaining color qualities found in clownfish in nature. However, there was no effect between different treatment on clown fish growth. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objectives of this study were to investigate the antibacterial activity of G. verrucosa extract in test inhibitory zone with different concentrations (500, 1000, 1500, and 2000 mg/L) and  to examine G. verrucosa extract with different dosage (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 g/kg) in feed on immune responses (total hemocytes count, phagocytic activity, phenoloxidase activity, respiratory burst) and survival rate in the Litopenaeus vannamei against the pathogenic Vibrio harveyi. Pacific white shrimp with an initial body weight of 5.25±0.55 g was reared in the aquarium (60×30×30 cm3) with a density of 10 shrimp/aquarium. Pacific white shrimp had been fed three times a day as much as 3% in at satiation for 14 days after challenged with V. harveyi. The first results of the inhibitory test showed that all the concentration of G. verrucosa extract was able to inhibit the growth of V. harveyi and the second result showed that the extract of G. verrucosa can increase the immune responses of shrimp. In the result of survival showed that shrimp fed with 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 g/kg has 80, 73, 70, and 70%, respectively. In conclusion, the seaweed extract of G. verrucosa has antibacterial activity and can induce the immune responses and resistance of Pacific white shrimp against V. harveyi infection.Keywords: Gracilaria verrucosa, seaweed, Vibrio harveyi, vibriosis,  Litopenaeus vannamei ABSTRAKTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak G. verrucosa dalam uji zona hambat dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda (yaitu 500, 1000, 1500, dan 2000 mg/L) dan studi perlakuan pengobatan untuk menguji ekstrak G. verrucosa pada pakan dengan dosis yang berbeda (yaitu 0,5; 1,0; 1,5; dan 2,0 g/kg) pada respons imun (yaitu jumlah total hemosit, aktivitas fagositik, aktivitas fenoloksidase, respiratory burst) dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup pada udang vaname terhadap bakteri patogen Vibrio harveyi. Udang vaname dengan berat badan awal 5,25 ± 0,55 g dipelihara di akuarium (60 × 30 × 30 cm3) dengan kepadatan 10 udang/akuarium. Udang vaname  pasifik diberi makan tiga kali sehari 3% at satiation selama 14 hari setelah di uji tantang V. harveyi. Hasil pertama dari uji zona hambat menunjukkan bahwa semua konsentrasi ekstrak G. verrucosa mampu menghambat pertumbuhan V. harveyi dan hasil kedua menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ektrak G. verrucosa dapat meningkatkan respon imun udang. Hasil tingkat kelangsungan hidup menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pakan udang dengan dosis 0,5; 1,0; 1,5; dan 2,0 g/kg memiliki tingkat kelangsungan hidup masing-masing 80, 73, 70, dan 70%. Kesimpulannya, ekstrak rumput laut G. verrucosa memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dan dapat menginduksi respons imun & ketahanan udang terhadap infeksi V. harveyi.Kata kunci: Gracilaria verrucosa, rumput laut, Vibrio harveyi, vibriosis, udang vaname

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan tepung Daphnia sp. terhadap pertumbuhan ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni hingga Agustus 2024 di Laboratorium Fakultas Kelautan dan Perikanan, Universitas Nusa Cendana, Kupang. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan meliputi A (kontrol), B (10% Daphnia sp.), C (15% Daphnia sp.), D (20% Daphnia sp.), dan E (30% Daphnia sp.), masing-masing perlakuan terdiri atas 15 ekor ikan, sehingga total ikan sebanyak 225 ekor. Parameter yang diamati mencakup pertumbuhan berat mutlak dan rasio konversi pakan (FCR). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan tepung Daphnia sp. berpengaruh signifikan (p<0,05) terhadap pertumbuhan berat mutlak, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap rasio konversi pakan. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of different fish species on fish growth in a bucket aquaculture system (Budidamber). The study was conducted from July to September 2024 at the Dry Land Aquaculture Laboratory, Nusa Cendana University, Kupang, using 60 catfish (Clarias gariepinus), 60 tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), and 60 patin fish (Pangasius sp.) with an average weight of ±10 grams and an average length of ±8 cm. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three types of treatments, each repeated three times. The treatments were A (catfish), B (tilapia), and C (pangasius). The parameters observed included absolute weight gain, absolute length gain, and fish survival. The results of the analysis showed that the catfish treatment had a significant effect (P<0.05) on absolute weight gain. However, for the parameters of length increase and survival, no significant differences were found (P>0.05) between the three types of fish.

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem in the Sulamanda village plays an important role for the lives of the surrounding community. The management and utilization of mangrove ecosystems by local communities tends to lead to areas that protect people's homes from waves and high tides. Therefore it is important for us to carry out nurseries and care for mangrove seedlings so that they can replant them in their natural habitat in good condition and grow well. This nursery service will be held in September 2021 at Sulamada Beach, Kupang. Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (FKP) Dr. Franchy Ch. Liufeto, S.Pi., M.Sc, with the Head of Karang Taruna Ari Buraen and the Head of Mata Air Beni Kanuk Village. Collaborating in an effort to carry out activities for planting 500 mangrove saplings, which involved Marine and Fisheries Faculty Students and Youth from Karang Taruna and Mata Air Village. This activity was carried out on September 23, 2021. In a short presentation, Dr. Franchy stated that the beach which had been damaged by abrasion had to be rehabilitated by planting mangrove seedlings. To support these activities, his party will provide assistance to village officials and youth organizations to continue to maintain the survival of mangrove seedlings. This was welcomed by the youth organization and the local village community. There are several beaches in NTT that can protect residential areas from abrasion, such as Sulamanda Beach which is located in Mata Air Village, Central Kupang District, Kupang Regency. However, it has suffered damage due to beach abrasion. This has received special attention from several parties, such as the Karang Taruna Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (FKP) and residents of Mata Air Village who are in that location. Mangrove restoration activities, from seeding to monitoring, are one of the efforts to protect the mangrove ecosystem.

Abstract

Akuaponik menggabungkan hidroponik dan akuakultur dan memiliki kontribusi penting dalam produksi pangan, terutama pada untuk ketahanan pangan rumah tangga. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan pembuatan akuaponik dari bahan polivinil klorida (PVC) dan pot net serta pembuatan akuaponik dari bahan bekas minuman mineral dengan rangka bambu untuk sarana edukasi pangan rumah tangga dalam mencegah stunting di Edu-wisata Kolam Ikan Nunneo, Buraen, Kecamatan Amarasi Selatan, Kabupaten Kupang. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini meluputi penyuluhan dan praktek pembuatan akuaponik, dimana pada penyuluhan dilakukan edukasi mengenai sistem akuaponik dengan menggunakan bahan pipa PVC-net pot dan bambu-limbah kemasan mineral plastik, cara bercocok tanam sistem akuaponik dan memperkenalkan manfaat akuaponik dalam menghasilkan ikan sebagai sumber protein dan sayuran. Pada saat praktek dilakukan instalasi dua set akuaponik model tingkat dan rak serta pembuatan satu set akuaponik dari bahan bekas. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 26 Agustus 2023 dengan melibatkan Kelompok Tani Tunas Muda Buraen Kupang yang dihadiri oleh 20 orang peserta. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode Participatory Action Research (PAR). Hasil evaluasi pengabdian masyarakat menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan peningkatan keterampilan kelompok Tani Tunas Muda. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari terinstalasinya dua set akuaponik dari bahan PVC dan satu set akuaponik dari bahan bekas. Evaluasi kepuasan peserta pelatihan menunjukkan kategori nilai rata-rata tinggi (setuju-sangat setuju) dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat. Hal ini menjadi indikator bahwa pengabdian masyarakat pembuatan akuponik menjadi fasilitas edukasi di kolam Ikan Nunneo direspon positif oleh mitra.

Abstract

Ikan lele (Clarias sp.) yang dihasilkan dari budidaya ikan sistem akuaponik merupakan salah satu sarana dalam pemenuhan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga. Pengabdian masyarkat pada kelompok budidaya ikan air tawar Murimada di Kelurahan Nunbaun Sabu, Kecamatan Alak, Kota Kupang ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat disekitar kelompok mitra akan pentingnya menjaga ketahanan pangan rumah tangga dan mencegah masalah gizi pada masyarakat dengan memanfaatkan produk perikanan seperti ikan lele (Clarias sp.) yang dihasilkan dari sistem budidaya akuaponik pekarangan pangan lestari. Tujuan kedua yaitu untuk meningkatkan keterampilan masyarakat untuk mengolah hasil budidaya ikan sistem akuaponik berupa ikan lele (Clarias sp.) menjadi produk diversifikasi olahan lain berupa nugget ikan lele (Clarias sp.). Hasil evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat akan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga dan permasalahan gizi seperti stunting kemudian adanya peningkatan kesukaan akan ikan lele dan kesukaan akan olahan ikan lele (Clarias sp.) seperti nugget ikan pada masyarakat. Selain itu diperoleh juga peningkatan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengolah ikan lele (Clarias sp.) menjadi nugget ikan lele (Clarias sp.)

Abstract

Karotenoid, a pigment responsible for yellow, orange, and red hues, was explored in this study to ascertain its impact on enhancing the coloration of clownfish (Amphiprion percula) by incorporating red dragon fruit rind (Hylocereus undatus) flour into their feed. The research involved four distinct treatments: (a) FF999 commercial feed without red dragon fruit rind flour addition, (b) 10% red dragon fruit rind flour + 90% FF999 pellets, (c) 15% red dragon fruit rind flour + 85% FF999 pellets, and (d) 20% red dragon fruit rind flour + 80% FF999 pellets. Evaluation parameters included color measurements using RGB values, transformed into HSB values. The method used is a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), the final HSB color quality data is tabulated using the Excel application and analyzed descriptively. Results revealed that the inclusion of red dragon fruit rind flour induced changes in the Hue, Saturation, and Brightness (HSB) values, effectively maintaining the clownfish's color akin to their natural hue (A. percula) during cultivation.
