Abstract

Structuring traditional areas in Indonesia many still maintain and uphold the traditions of the local area. One of them is the Ciptagelar traditional village area which still applies Sundanese culture, but there are changes that can be seen from the management of the characteristics of building facilities in the Kasepuhan Ciptagelar traditional village in the form of environmental and cultural aspects. This study uses a descriptive qualitative analysis method that connects the typical Sundanese Architecture with Architecture in the Kasepuhan Ciptagelar Region, followed by the application of the design theory of Dr. Ahadiat Joedawinata is a nine element approach to analyzing the development of various formsof design, facilities, and materials. After that use the application of conservation efforts in the form of conservation. The output of the research resulted in recommendations regarding the management of thecharacteristics of the Sunda Indigenous Village in Ciptagelar so that it could be of interest to both local and foreign tourists to get to know about the characteristics and arrangement of Sundanese traditional Abstrak Penataan kawasan tradisional di Indonesia banyak yang masih mempertahankan dan memegang teguh tradisi dari daerahnya. Salah satunya yaitu Kawasan Kampung adat Ciptagelar yang masih menerapkan budaya Sunda, namun ada beberapa perubahan yang dapat dilihat dari pengelolaan karakteristik fasilitas bangunan di kampung adat KasepuhanCiptagelar yang berupa aspek lingkungan, dan budaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif analisis yang menghubungkan antara Arsitektur khas Sunda dengan Arsitektur yang ada di Kawasan Kasepuhan Ciptagelar setelah itu dilanjutkan dengan penerapan teori Desain karya Dr. Ahadiat Joedawinata yaitu pendekatan 9 unsur pemandudalam menganalisis perkembangan berbagai bentuk desain, fasilitas, dan material. Setelah itu menggunakan penerapan upaya pelestarian terhadap fasilitas berupa perservasi. Output dari penelitian menghasilkan rekomendasi mengenai pengelolaan terhadap karakteristikKampung Adat Sunda di Ciptagelar sehingga dapat diminati oleh wisatawan baik secara lokal maupun mancanegara untuk mengenal tentang karakteristik dan penataan kampungadat sunda.

Abstract

AbstractBaitul Muttaqien Mosque is one of the mosques in Indonesia, precisely in Samarinda, East Kalimantanwith a variety of facilities and infrastructure in its interior, so it is dubbed the Islamic Center Mosque. Theapplication of architectural and interior elements applied reflects two different cultures namely MiddleEastern culture and local culture, East Kalimantan. This is not just to beautify the mosque building, butthere is a philosophical content contained in the two different cultural elements.Keywords: culture, architecture and interior of the mosque, Islamic architecture, Baitul Muttaqien mosque Samarinda.AbstrakMasjid Baitul Muttaqien merupakan salah satu Masjid di Indonesia tepatnya di Samarinda,Kalimantan Timur dengan berbagai sarana dan prasarana yang ada didalamnya sehinggadijuluki Masjid Islamic Center. Penerapan elemen arsitektur dan interior yang diaplikasikanmencerminkan dua kebudayaan yang berbeda yaitu budaya Timur Tengah dan budaya lokalyakni Kalimantan Timur. Abstract

AbstractHuman behavior is defined as an effort made by humans because of a need. A human being is said tohave reasonable behavior if there is an effort to harmonize the role of humans on their needs as individualbeings and also as social beings. Spatial Language Theory explains that human reputation and the waythey get along with other humans are the most powerful things that humans feel. Therefore, the way inwhich a space facilitates or hinders this behavior is the most important thing to consider when observingand designing a space. In line with this theory, the theory of 9 Guiding Elements of Design explains thatthe ideal design of a space is carried out through a process of analysis of the Needs and Wills of the spaceuser. This study aims to identify the effect of Cohousing Communal Space in Kampung Communitiesin East Java on the Behavior of Community Members. The qualitative narrative research method waschosen to examine: Primary Data Sources, in the form of direct observations and interviews conductedby research assistants on the research object, and Secondary Data Sources, namely a collection ofvarious literature studies and documentation related to the research object. From the results of theanalysis carried out on the elements: User-Maker of Sapce, Content of Space and Shaper of Space, it canbe concluded that there are three Cohousing indicators found in the Kampung Community, namely:Sense of Safety, Contractual Character, and Contractual Community. There is a match between thebehavior of community members with the physical and social background in the village community.The behavior of the Village Community Members is formed because of the Communal Activities thatare carried out repeatedly in the Communal Space within the Village Community. This is due to theHomogeneous Needs of Community Members.Keywords: cohousing, communal space, 9 guiding elements of design, the language of space, humanbehaviorAbstrakPerilaku Manusia didefinisikan sebagai sebuah usaha yang dilakukan oleh manusiadikarenakan adanya kebutuhan. Seorang manusia dikatakan memiliki perilaku wajarapabila didalamnya terdapat upaya penyelarasan peran manusia atas kebutuhan merekasebagai makhluk individu dan juga sebagai makhluk sosial. Teori Bahasa Ruang menjelaskanbahwasanya reputasi manusia dan cara mereka bergaul dengan manusia lain adalah halpaling kuat yang dirasakan oleh manusia. Oleh karena itu, cara bagaimana sebuah ruangmemfasilitasi atau menghalangi perilaku ini menjadi sebuah hal yang paling diperhatikanketika melakukan pengamatan dan perancangan ruang. Sejalan dengan teori tersebut, dalamteori 9 Unsur Pemandu Desain dijelaskan bahwasanya perancangan sebuah ruang secaraideal dilakukan melalui proses analisa terhadap faktor Needs dan Wills dari pengguna ruang.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh Ruang Komunal Cohousing padaKomunitas Kampung di Jawa Timur terhadap Perilaku Anggota Komunitasnya. Metodepenelitian deskriptif kualitatif dipilih untuk mengkaji: Sumber Data Primer, berupa hasilobservGasi langsung dan wawancara yang dilakukan oleh asisten peneliti terhadap objek penelitian, serta Sumber Data Sekunder, yaitu kumpulan berbagai studi literatur dan dokumentasi terkait objek penelitian. Dari hasil analisa yang dilakukan terhadap unsur-unsur:Pengguna-Pembuat Ruang, Muatan Ruang, dan Pembentuk Ruang dapat disimpulkan bahwaterdapat tiga indikator Cohousing yang ditemukan di dalam Komunitas Kampung, yaitu:Sense of Safety, Contractual Character, dan Contractual Community. Terdapat kesesuaian antaraperilaku anggota komunitas dengan latar fisik dan latar sosial di dalam komunitas kampung.Perilaku Anggota Komunitas Kampung terbentuk karena adanya Aktifitas Komunal yangdilakukan secara berulang pada Ruang Komunal di dalam Komunitas Kampung. Hal inidikarenakan Kebutuhan Anggota Komunitas yang bersifat Homogen.Kata kunci: cohousing, ruang komunal, 9 unsur pemandu, the language of space, perilaku manusia

Abstract

AbstractThe emergence of Linear Economy with the ‘take-make-use-dispose’ consumption model started fromthe Industrial Revolution and after that globally the economy was developed around a linear economicmodel. The implementation of linear economy has caused various social, economic and environmentalfactors that are not sustainable oriented. A radical new model known as the Circular Economy (CircularEconomy) is being advocated but not widely practiced. This paper proposes that it is very importantfor designers to recognize and apply the development of this new economic model and furthermore, thismodel facilitates education for sustainable development and increases employability at work.Keywords: circular economy, sustainability, sustainability education, design and sustainabilityAbstrakMunculnya Ekonomi Linier (Linear Economy) dengan model konsumsi ‘take-make-use-dispose’dimulai dari Revolusi Industri dan setelah itu secara global perekonomian dikembangkan disekitar model ekonomi linier. Penerapan ekonomi linier tersebut menyebabkan berbagai faktorsosial, ekonomi dan lingkungan tidak berorientasi berkelanjutan (sustainable). Sebuah modelbaru yang radikal yang dikenal dengan Ekonomi Sirkular (Circular Economy) sedang mulaidiadvokasi tetapi belum dipraktekkan secara luas. Abstract

AbstractRepresentation is a mechanism to give meaning or meaning to what is described by an object. Themeaning of various patterns of life, culture, and character of a society behind the formation of an object,one of which is the form of a residential environment. A settlement that has a soul will have a long historythat connects the past, present and future in determining its character, an object that has a concept asa background that forms it. One of the settlements in Java that has a distinctive and unique characteris the Kauman Yogyakarta settlement which is located behind the Kraton Mosque. This settlement wasbuilt in the early 17th century on the orders of Sultan HB I. The problems in this study include theidentity of a settlement that represents Javanese and Islamic cultural values as a shared tolerance. Thisresearch is diachronic with the focus of research on finding various phenomena and facts of objects atthe present time by exploring the background of the appearance of artifacts in the Kauman settlement ofYogyakarta. The history of the past and then its development up to the present has shaped the physicalenvironment of the Kauman Yogyakarta settlement which represents the lives of its inhabitants as aJavanese Muslim community.Keywords: representation, settlement, Kauman Yogyakarta, Javanese Culture and Islam AbstrakRepresentasi merupakan sebuah mekanisme untuk memberikan arti atau makna terhadapapa yg digambarkan oleh sebuah benda. Pemaknaan tentang berbagai pola kehidupan,budaya, dan karakter suatu masyarakat yang melatarbelakangi terbentuknya sebuah objek,salah satunnya berupa wujud lingkungan permukiman. Permukiman yang memiliki jiwaakan memiliki sejarah panjang yang menghubungkan waktu dulu, sekarang dan masa yangakan datang dalam menentukan karakternya, sebuah objek yang memiliki konsep sebagailatar belakang yang membentuknya. Salah satu permukiman di Jawa yang berkarakter khasdan unik adalah permukiman Kauman Yogyakarta yang terletak di belakang Mesjid Kraton.Permukiman ini dibangun pada awal abad 17 atas perintah Sultan HB I. Permasalahan dalampenelitian ini meliputi identitas sebuah permukiman yang merepresentasikan nilai-nilaibudaya Jawa dan Islam sebagai sebuah toleransi yang disepakai bersama. Penelitian ini bersifatdiakronik dengan fokus penelitian pada penemuan ragam fenomena dan fakta objek padamasa sekarang dengan menggali latar belakang tampilnya artefak-artefak di permukimanKauman Yogyakarta. Sejarah masa lalu dan kemudian perkembangannya sampai denganmasa sekarang telah membentuk lingkungan fisik permukiman Kauman Yogyakarta yangmerepresentasikan kehidupan penghuninya sebagai masyarakat Jawa muslim.Kata Kunci : representasi, permukiman, Kauman Yogyakarta, Budaya Jawa dan Islam

Abstract

AbstractMotorcycles with retrospective style in the contemporary era have become popular in urban communities, especially in Jakarta. This is marked by the many emerging and individual communities of retro motorcycle enthusiasts of various types and becoming a trend among them. The author uses a cultural studies approach and an interdisciplinary approach to analyze this phenomenon. Retrospective style motorcycle design concept seeks to re-present the forms of the past. Redesigning the motorcycle by displaying hybridity, namely embedding several cultural elements in different eras into a new whole. Elements on retro motorbikes contain semiotic signs so that their iconic, symbolic and indexity meanings can be known. Based on interviews with informants, factors such as attachment to the past (nostalgia), interest in certain retro types of motorbikes, lifestyle and hobbies are the reasons for retrospective motorbikes to become popular, especially in urban Jakarta communities.Keywords: retrospective style, semiotics, popular culture. AbstrakMotor dengan gaya retrospektif di era kontemporer menjadi populer di tengah masyarakat urban khususnya di Jakarta. Hal ini ditandai dengan banyak bermunculan komunitas maupun individu penggemar motor retro dari berbagai tipe dan menjadi tren di kalangan mereka. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan cultural studies dan metode interdisciplinary approach untuk menganalisa fenomena tersebut. Konsep desain motor gaya retrospektif berusaha menampilkan kembali bentuk-bentuk masa lalu. Mendesain ulang motor dengan menampilkan hibriditas yaitu menyematkan beberapa unsur budaya pada era yang berbeda menjadi satu kesatuan yang baru. Elemen-elemen pada motor retro mengandung tanda semiotika sehingga dapat di ketahui makna ikonik, simbolis dan indeksitasnya. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan narasumber, faktor-faktor seperti keterikatan dengan masa lalu (nostalgia), ketertarikan terhadap motor retro tipe tertentu, lifestyle dan hobi menjadi penyebab motor retrospektif menjadi populer khususnya di masyarakat urban Jakarta.Kata kunci: gaya retrospektif, semiotika, budaya populer.

Abstract

Abstract Pattern Design Module Using Tesselations and Gestalt, will produce faster pattern design. It will also produce the quality of a dinamic pattern design composition. For the quantity as well, it will produce more of new design pattern in a shorter time. The method is using qualitative research of Hawkins Creation Theory. They are problem eksploration through data analysing, improvisation from theory and data data colecction, and the last step is forming, that is about finding a new way to solve the problem through new module treatment. The last is module applicatio. And it’s summary about pattern design module using tesselation and Gestalt, as an optional recommendation to create a design pattern.  Abstrak Modul Dalam Desain Pattern Menggunakan Tesselations dan Prinsip Gestalt, menghasilkan suatu cara yang lebih cepat untuk menghasilkan desain pattern. Secara kualitas, akan membuat desain pattern dengan komposisi yang lebih dinamis, dan secara kuantitas dapat menghasilkan desain pattern baru yang cukup banyak dalam waktu yang lebih singkat. Metode yang digunakan dengan pendekatan kualitatif adalah metode penciptaan Hawkins yang terdiri dari eksplorasi permasalahan dan pengumpulan data, improvisasi yang merupakan pengembangan atas temuan yang diolah dari data yang ada, dan forming adalah tahap perumusan modul yang dapat digunakan. Sampai modul tersebut diaplikasikan dan didapatkan kesimpulan sebagai temuan cara baru untuk menciptakan pattern.

Abstract

High competition between brands encourages marketers to be more creative in maximizing marketing strategies, one of which is through product packaging design. Some cosmetic manufacturers that use a commodification strategy in packaging design are Innisfree, which uses the concept of sustainable packaging. The emergence of commodification practices in packaging design visualization is studied through the sign system that appears on the packaging to understand the meaning contained therein and understand these signs through the meaning of connotations and myths. How does the sustainable concept, the display of verbal and visual elements in packaging design such as color, logo, typography, and images/illustrations become a product commodification strategy by transforming use value into exchange value through sustainable meanings. The aim of the research is to understand sustainable materials used in packaging structures, and understand sustainable representation through packaging design elements used in packaging as a form of commodification. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research with a case study method. Data collection was carried out using non-participant observation techniques, documentation and literature study. Data analysis uses SPC's Sustainable Packaging criteria to identify sustainable packaging standards used by cosmetic products. Roland Bathes' theory was used to obtain ideologies and myths, then researchers used commodification theory as an effort to answer the formulation of signs used as a commodification strategy. The results of this research indicate the practice of visual commodification, where commodification is formed from material and narrative differences in the visual elements used. So it can be concluded that the concept of sustainable packaging design can be constructed if the materials and visual elements can represent sustainable products holistically.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze character design in the children's book MHCT (Misteri Hilangnya si Cacing Tanah). Through literature reviews and analysis of popular children's book samples, particularly those translated from non-Indonesian publications, this research identifies key elements in character design in the MHCT book that are interconnected through visual storytelling about waste management in the surroundings. The results indicate that characters are combination of shape, color, expression, and style is a crucial aspect in creating appealing and memorable characters for young reader, especially kids from 7 to 10 years old. Keywords : children picturebooks, waste management for kids, character design  Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis desain karakter dalam buku cerita anak MHCT (Misteri Hilangnya si Cacing Tanah). Melalui tinjauan pustaka dan analisis terhadap sampel buku cerita anak yang popular terutama terjemahan dari buku terbitan luar Indonesia. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi elemen-elemen kunci dalam desain karakter di buku MHCT menggunakan teori dari Bryan Tillman. Karakter ini dikaitkan melalui komunikasi visual cerita dalam pengelolaan sampah disekitar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi bentuk, warna, ekspresi, dan gaya yang kohesif merupakan aspekpenting dalam menciptakan karakter yang menarik dan mudah diingat bagi pembaca muda. Abstract

Furniture for Wellbeing Interior in Minim Space Jakarta Residential. The economic limitations of Indonesian society make most people choose to live in minim space housing which has limited land. Limited land affects minimal space and wide access to the residence. This research is motivated by the problem of limited land occupancy. This research was carried out using a qualitative descriptive methodology and design thinking method, namely identifying problems involving users directly and presenting the results in a more structured data manner.
