Abstract

Abstract

Education in Indonesia has undergone substantial transformation with the widespread integration of technology. In this context, technology training for teachers is essential to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in elementary schools. However, only approximately 30% of teachers report feeling adequately prepared to integrate technology into their instructional practices. This reveals a gap between the increasing demand for educational technology and teachers’ readiness to adopt it. This pilot study aims to evaluate the reliability and construct validity of an adapted instrument designed to measure elementary school teachers’ acceptance of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in East Jakarta, Indonesia. The study incorporates six key constructs: Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEU), Social Influence (SI), Facilitating Conditions (FC), Behavioral Intention (BI), and Perceived Trust (PT), with a total of 22 proposed indicators. Data were collected from 61 elementary school teachers who completed a structured questionnaire based on the proposed research model. The results indicate that the instrument meets the required thresholds for both construct validity and reliability. However, only 21 indicators met the established criteria, with one indicator excluded due to low factor loading. The findings from this preliminary study provide a valid foundation for applying the instrument in larger-scale research on teachers’ acceptance of AI technologies in educational settings.

Abstract

Modern elementary education struggles with engaging science instruction, particularly for abstract concepts like food chains requiring complex visualization. Traditional media fails to capture student attention, necessitating innovative digital solutions aligned with contemporary learning preferences. This study develops and evaluates Hyzine-Flipbook assisted e-book media effectiveness for teaching food chain concepts to fifth-grade students, measuring impact on learning outcomes and academic interest levels. Research and Development methodology with ADDIE framework was implemented across three elementary schools. Data collection involved pre-test/post-test assessments, questionnaire surveys, and expert validation from material, media, and language specialists. Statistical analysis included normality tests, homogeneity analysis, N-Gain calculations, and independent t-tests. Results: Experimental groups showed superior performance with N-Gain scores of 73-81 versus control groups' 19-20. Statistical analysis revealed highly significant differences (p < 0.001) with mean improvements exceeding 30 points. Student responses indicated "Very Feasible" qualifications (81-93%) for experimental groups, while expert validation achieved 88% (material), 80% (media), and 84% (language) scores. Hyzine-Flipbook assisted e-book media significantly enhances food chain comprehension and stimulates learning interest through interactive multimedia integration, representing a scalable solution for transforming elementary science education digitally.

Abstract

Communication management is considered as an important factor related to performance improvement in construction projects. This study aims to identify and determine communication management practices (CMP) in construction projects correlated to project outcomes (PO). Data were obtained from 209 questionnaires distributed to contractors and consultants in the West Sumatra province. The research questionnaire was divided into two components the respondent's profile and four PMK factors, namely Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Communication Skills and Competence (CSC), Communication Management Plan (CMP) and Team Work (TW). Each factor has 4-5 statement items. In terms of project results, it was seen from the project scope, cost, time, quality and safety level. Data were analyzed using Principle Axis Factoring (PAF). The next analysis was the Spearman correlation to evaluate the relationship between each CMP factor and PO. The results showed that there was a strong positive correlation between the three CMP factors (ICT, CSC and TW) and PO. Conversely, no relationship was found between the CMP factor and PO. The may not be fully generalized due to some limitations. However, it helps construction practitioners to recognize the communication aspects that could be improved and strengthened to increase performance of the project.

Abstract

This research explores the role of Pasar Bawah as the nucleus of urban growth in Pekanbaru, focusing on identifying supportive and inhibiting factors affecting its development and formulating strategies to enhance its role in city development. A qualitative approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with traders, visitors, and relevant stakeholders, alongside direct observations of market infrastructure and facilities. Findings reveal Pasar Bawah's pivotal roles as a local economic center, a shopping tourism attraction, a job creator, a stabilizer of the local economy, and a hub for social and cultural interactions. Supportive factors such as strategic location, diverse product availability, tradition, and government support contribute positively, while inadequate infrastructure, competition from modern markets, cleanliness and security issues, and lack of promotion pose significant challenges. Recommended strategies to augment Pasar Bawah's role include infrastructure revitalization, enhanced promotion and branding, collaboration with modern shopping centers, improved security and cleanliness measures, and empowerment of trader communities. This study aims to provide guidance for the development of traditional markets as integral components of sustainable and inclusive urban development.
