Abstract

Currently, the concept of sustainable tourism development is critical, especially how local communities participate. This research aims to investigate the elements that influence the development of sustainable tourism in the biosphere reserve area of Alas Purwo National Park, Banyuwangi, namely environmental factors, social cost participation, and long-term planning mediated through tourism involvement. Using a survey method, the approach was empirically tested on a sample of 170 locals living close to the Alas Purwo National Park reserve. The questions are divided into two sections: the first includes socio-demographic and economic data on the respondents, and the second includes research tools made up of 25 questions utilizing a Likert scale with a maximum score of five. A questionnaire was administered to 170 respondents, who were subsequently evaluated using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS. All variables were found to have a substantial effect on sustainable tourism development, as mediated by the variable tourist involvement. The community has great potential to assist the growth of ecotourism that is sustainable. To manage tourism in a more sustainable manner, particularly in the biosphere region that needs to be conserved, the government, particularly local governments, local communities, and tourists are required.

Abstract

When someone gets information in the form of review valence and they feel that the review influences them, review helpfulness can be formed, and the brand image that product X already has will influence trust in business actors, which can ultimately lead to purchase intention. The aim of this reasearch is to analyze the influence of review valence on review helpfulness, review valence on purchase intention X herbal skincare products, review helpfulness on purchase intention X herbal skincare products, and the influence of brand image in moderating the indirect relationship between review valence and purchase intention through review helpfulness. The research was carried out via Instagram, TikTok and X (Twitter) social media accounts from November to December 2023. The total sample was 60 students who carried out by non-probability sampling using purposive sampling technique. Data was collected by distributing online questionnaires, then analyzed using SEM-PLS with SmartPLS software. The research results show that review valence has a positive and significant effect on review helpfulness, review valence has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention, review helpfulness has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention, and high brand image has a positive but not significant effect, thereby reducing the strength of the relationship between review valence on purchase intention through review helpfulness. The R-Square value shows 0.20, which means that the review valence and review helpfulness variables influence consumer purchase intention by 20% and the rest through other non-model variables.

Abstract

Dyes are materials that people use for certain purposes. However, the high use of synthetic dyes in non-food products causes environmental pollution and is toxic. Therefore it is necessary to provide another alternative in the form of natural dyes from plants, namely red dragon fruit. This fruit contains anthocyanin as a red dye. Natural dyes are obtained through an extraction process with the same solvent as their properties, such as ethanol. The choice of ethanol to be used as a solvent is usually added with acid to stabilize and optimize the extracted pigments, one of which is citric acid. This combination is useful for dissolving substances that dissolve in polar solvents such as anthocyanins. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of varying solvent and acid ratios on the physical and chemical characteristics of red dragon fruit-based natural dye extracts and to determine the best variation of solvent and acid ratios in red dragon fruit-based natural dye extracts. Data analysis used a single factor Completely Randomized Design (RAL), namely variations in the ratio of solvent and acid. The results of this study stated that variations in the ratio of solvent and acid had a significant effect on the overall characteristics of the red dragon fruit natural dye extract. Selection of the best treatment using the effectiveness index method was obtained in treatment D with a pH of 2.3; yield 24%; total dissolved solids 50.08 oBrix; color value a 27.44 and anthocyanin content 70.18 mg/100 mL.

Abstract

Purpose : This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence undergraduate accounting students' interest at the National Development University "Veteran" East Java in pursuing a career as a public accountant. Method: A quantitative research approach was applied. The study targeted students who had completed Audit 1 and Audit 2 courses and had internship experience. A total of 87 respondents were selected using the Slovin formula and stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method with SmartPLS 4.0 software. Results: The validity and reliability tests confirmed that all indicators met the required criteria. The model achieved a good predictive relevance (Q² = 0.622) and coefficient of determination (R² = 0.640), indicating that the model was effective in explaining variations in students’ career interest. Findings: Internship experience, academic achievement, financial rewards, and job market considerations each have a significant positive influence on students’ interest in becoming public accountants. Novelty: This study integrates expectancy theory with empirical testing using SEM-PLS in a specific institutional context, providing deeper insight into motivation-related factors in career choice among accounting students. Originality: The study contributes new empirical evidence from a developing country context, particularly focusing on UPN "Veteran" East Java, which has not been widely studied in previous research on accounting career interest. Conclusion: The research confirms that experiential, academic, economic, and market-related factors are key determinants of career interest in the public accounting profession. These insights are useful for educators, practitioners, and policymakers in designing interventions to strengthen students’ motivation toward public accounting careers. Type of Paper: Research Paper
