Abstract

Employee retention is one of the major challenges faced by many business organizations today. Many industries face high demand for skilled workers, coupled with significant employee turnover rates. In the era of a knowledge-based society, human resources have become a major asset and competitive advantage for companies. High employee turnover rates negatively impact organizations, especially with the loss of talented talent, critical skills, and valuable institutional knowledge. In response to this challenge, companies are increasingly focusing on retaining high-performing employees rather than simply relying on costly replacement and retraining processes. Modern organizations recognize that one of the fundamental aspects of business management is the ability to motivate and retain employees, especially those who are able to survive changes such as organizational restructuring, downsizing, consolidation, reorganization, or reengineering initiatives. This study discusses human resource practices related to employee retention. This study uses a systematic literature type. The study aims to determine retention factors, challenges and strategies in employee retention. The results of this study are expected to be a basis for developing effective employee retention programs for various organizations. By implementing a comprehensive retention strategy supported by an adequate HCM program, companies can retain key employees who are the pillars of business success.

Abstract

Background. This research was conducted to identify and systematically examine the application of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis in the formulation of strategies to enhance organizational performance across various sectors. Aims. The study's focus encompasses the fields of education, public services, industry, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and hospitals. Methods. The methodology employed in this study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of ten scientific articles published between 2017 and 2024, which explicitly applies the SWOT approach. The study was conducted thematically, based on the research method, organizational sector, SWOT quadrant position, and proposed strategy. Result. The results of the study show that most organizations are in quadrant I (aggressive strategy), which describes an institution's ability to combine strengths from internal operations and opportunities from external sources to the maximum. The dominant strategy implemented includes strengthening human resources, implementing performance improvement strategies, enhancing operational process efficiency, and driving innovation in products and work systems. In addition, some studies combine SWOT with other methods such as the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA), which have been proven to enrich analysis and support decision-making accuracy. Conclusion. SWOT analysis has proven to be an effective strategic evaluation tool applicable in various organizational contexts. This study also offers practical implications for organizational leaders in designing adaptive strategies that are grounded in the organization's actual conditions. Implementation. The government and stakeholders are advised to initiate managerial training and mentoring programs to enhance organizational understanding and capacity in comprehensively implementing SWOT analysis

Abstract

This study explores the influence of digital leadership on employee work engagement within creative MSMEs in the Kedu Residency, with a particular focus on digital readiness as a mediating factor. The rapid advancement of digital technology poses significant challenges for MSMEs, necessitating effective leadership to enhance workforce engagement. Employing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 200 respondents using purposive sampling. Analysis was conducted through regression techniques and the Sobel test to assess the relationships among digital leadership, digital readiness, and work engagement. The findings reveal that digital leadership has a positive influence on digital readiness, which in turn significantly boosts employee work engagement. However, the direct effect of digital leadership on engagement was found to be negative when digital readiness among employees was insufficient. These results underscore the importance of enhancing digital readiness to fully leverage the benefits of digital leadership in increasing employee engagement. This research offers valuable insights for MSME owners aiming to improve workforce adaptability and engagement in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the 4-Days a Week (4DWW) system, an innovative work approach that aims to improve employee productivity and well-being. By reviewing the literature on the implementation of 4DWW in different countries and industries, the study identifies the benefits, challenges, and implications of transitioning to this model, particularly in the post-pandemic context. The study used a qualitative literature review, analyzing academic articles and case studies from SCOPUS-indexed journals. This research ranges from the early implementation of 4DWW in the 1970s to recent studies conducted after the COVID-19 pandemic. This research focuses on the impact of 4DWW on employee productivity and well-being. The 4DWW system significantly improves work-life balance and reduces employee stress, leading to better mental health and higher satisfaction. Productivity often increases due to shorter and more focused work periods. However, the challenges include managing work intensity and ensuring operational continuity, particularly in sectors that require a high physical presence. The study offers a comprehensive review of global research on 4DWW, which presents a holistic perspective on its potential benefits and drawbacks. The new thing lies in efforts to overcome the resurgence of interest in 4DWW post-pandemic and evaluate its feasibility in the modern work environment. The findings show that 4DWW can redefine the work paradigm, emphasizing quality over quantity while fostering a healthier and more sustainable work culture. The study underscores the need for legislative support, effective communication strategies, and tailored implementation plans to ensure a successful transition across a wide range of industries.

Abstract

The changing business landscape over the past two decades has been marked by the accelerated adoption of digital technology, increasing environmental awareness, and the demand for sustainable business models. In this context, companies are required to not only compete effectively but also transform towards a Green Industry by leveraging renewable energy and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Traditional management strategies such as SWOT, TOWS, and QSPM remain relevant, but their effectiveness increases significantly when combined with modern approaches such as Blue Ocean Strategy and supported by the use of real-time data from the IoT. The study showed that IoT implementation can improve operational efficiency, reduce machine downtime, strengthen supply chain management, and optimize renewable energy utilization, resulting in reduced carbon emissions and energy cost savings of up to 20%. Quantitative findings demonstrate a significant contribution of the integration of management strategies, IoT, and renewable energy to company performance with an R² value of 0.67, while qualitative interviews confirmed IoT's role as a catalyst for digital-green transformation. However, challenges such as initial investment costs, data security risks, and limited technical skills remain inhibiting factors. This study concludes that the integration of IoT with renewable energy and management strategies is a strategic foundation for increasing competitiveness while strengthening the legitimacy of corporate sustainability in the green industry era.
