Abstract

Coffee (Coffea sp) is a significant plantation crop in Indonesia. Smallholder farmers grow it using environmentally friendly management systems that keep soil fertile and the biodiversity high. This research utilizes a quantitative descriptive methodology. We collected data by directly observing the field and using trapping methods. In three different places, they used pitfall traps, yellow pan traps, and light traps. Purposive sampling was used to choose the place where samples would be taken. There were four samples taken, each one a week apart. After identifying and analyzing the insect that had been collected, we used ANOVA with F tables of 1% and 5% to find their diversity, dominance, and evenness. The findings indicated that 6 orders and 21 families were recognized from the three sites. The diversity indices for locations I, II, and III were classified as medium (1.51), low (-0.11), and medium (1.99), respectively. The dominance indices for sites I, II, and III were classified as low (0.44), low (0.11), and low (0.21), respectively. The evenness index for locations I, II, and III was low (0.26), low (-0.02), and moderate (0.44), respectively. Keywords: Identification, Diversity, Insects, Coffee, Diversity, Pandeglang

Abstract

Pakchoy production in Indonesia has declined due to excessive use of inorganic fertilizers and suboptimal cultivation practices, necessitating the adoption of alternative fertilization methods, such as liquid organic fertilizer (LOF), which can improve soil structure, provide readily available nutrients, and enhance plant growth. This study aimed to determine the effects of varying concentrations of Infarm LOF on the growth and yield of three pakchoy (Brassica rapa L.) varieties to identify the most effective combination for cultivation. The Research was conducted from September to November 2025 in the home yard area of Kp. Cibuah, Cibuah Village, Warunggunung District, Lebak Regency, Banten, using a randomized block design with two factors: LOF concentration and pakchoy varieties. LOF concentration levels were P0 (no LOF), P1 (3 mL/L), P2 (6 mL/L), and P3 (9 mL/L), while varieties included (V1 = Nauli F1, V2 = Flamingo, and V3 = Green). The results showed that P1 (3 mL/L) produced the best growth performance, indicated by plant height and fresh shoot weight. The Nauli F1 variety showed the best growth response across most parameters. In addition, a significant interaction between Infarm LOF concentration and pakchoy varieties was observed for leaf number and leaf greenness. Keywords: Infarm, Pakchoy, Concentration level, Variety

Abstract

One strategy to increase shallot production is the utilization of microorganisms in the soil, such as arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), which is applied together with fertilizer. This research aimed to investigate the effects of different nutrient inputs and mycorrhizal association on the growth and yield of shallots. This study used a split-plot design with three replications as blocks. The main plot included four treatments: no nutrient inputs, NPK fertilizer, NK fertilizer, and humic acid, while the subplot involved the mycorrhiza application (with or without). The measured variables included growth (plant height and number of leaves) and yield (fresh weight and number of bulbs per plant). The results showed no interaction between treatments for any growth or yield parameters. Application of humic acid significantly improved shallot development and yield, producing the highest results compared to other fertilizer types. Mycorrhizal inoculation enhanced plant height and boosted bulb weight per plant. The application of humic substances has been proven to increase 27.82%, while AMF enhanced 12.9 % weight bulb of shallots. Hence, humic substances have the potential to enhance the shallot with or without AMF application.

Abstract

The study investigated the combined effects of fertilization and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculation on the growth and yield of shallot (Allium cepa var. aggregatum Group) under pot conditions. A randomized complete block design was employed with two factors: fertilizer type (NPK, NK, humic acid, and no treatment) and AMF dose (0, 5, and 10 g plant-1), each replicated three times. Growth traits, including plant height and leaf number, alongside yield components such as bulb number and bulb weight, were measured and statistically analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The result showed that fertilization had a significant effect on growth and yield parameters. NPK consistently promoted the greatest plant height and bulb weight, while humic acid alone resulted in lower values, indicating its better suitability as a supplementary amendment rather than a primary nutrient source. AMF inoculation demonstrated potential to increase yield traits, with 10 g per plant dose improving bulb weight and bulb number.

Abstract

Kale (Brassica oleracea var. Acephala) is a plant that has good adaptability to various environmental conditions, and can be cultivated throughout the year with relatively simple cultivation. This study investigated the effects of LED light exposure duration (9, 12, and 15 hours/day) and various growing media (cocopeat, rice husk charcoal, and rockwool) on the growth of kale microgreens (Brassica oleracea var. Acephala) in a controlled indoor environment. Using a split-plot design, key parameters including plant height, leaf number, leaf greenness index, and fresh weight were evaluated over 14 days after planting (DAP). Results indicated that cocopeat significantly enhanced plant height (up to 10.76 cm) and fresh weight (0.55 g), while rockwool promoted superior leaf greenness (22.10 units) and leaf count (2.22 leaves). Longer light exposure (15 hours) improved leaf number, greenness, and fresh weight, with significant interactions observed in leaf count. These findings highlight optimal conditions for urban farming, supporting efficient nutrient-rich microgreen production amid declining agricultural land.

Abstract

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a plant that has various advantages, one of which is a relatively short harvest period. This study was conducted to determine the most effective dose of NPK Phonska fertilizer and the optimal concentration of gibberellin growth regulator (GA3) to increase the growth and productivity of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) plants. This study was conducted from May to August 2025 at the Puri Serang Hijau, Serang City, Banten. The experiment was designed as a randomized block design with two treatment factors: the dose of NPK Phonska fertilizer (0, 350, 400, and 450 kg/ha) and the concentration of GA3 (0, 150, 175, and 200 ppm). The results showed that a single application of NPK Phonska fertilizer at a dose of 400 kg/ha gave the best effect on the growth and productivity of cucumber. This was reflected in greater plant height and more leaves, compared to other doses. The application of a single GA3 at a concentration of 200 ppm improved plant reproductive characteristics, such as accelerated flowering time. This study highlights the age of flower emergence and harvest age according to the varieties used as research objects.
