Abstract

ABSTRAKMelon merupakan tanaman semusim yang memiliki tingkat permintaan tinggi. Ketersediaan benih melon di indonesia masih didatangkan dari luar negeri untuk memenuhinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keunggulan antara calon varietas melon minion dan tiga varietas tanaman melon pembanding. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan Benih Sumber Andalan Research Center Dramaga Bogor, pada bulan Desember sd maret 2023. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) terdiri dari 4 perlakuan yaitu 1 calon varietas minion dan 3 varietas pembanding yaitu Merlion, Kinanti dan Alisha. Berdasarkan hasil rekapitulasi sidik ragam calon varietas Minion memiliki keunggulan pada parameter kadar gula 12,7 0 brix dan umur panen 65 HST. Penampilan memiliki keunikan berupa bentuk buah Ovate dengan ukuran kecil namun memiliki rasa yang sangat manis, calon varietas Minion memiliki nilai koefisien keragaman < 25% pada seluruh parameter yang diamati. Calon varietas Minion memiliki ketahanan penyakit begomovirus lebih baik dari pada varietas merlion.

Abstract

Kebutuhan jagung manis nasional mengalami peningkatan setiap tahunnya. Varietas hibrida jagung manis dapat menjadi solusi untuk meningkatkan produksi jagung. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menduga parameter genetik dan menyeleksi jagung hibrida rakitan Benih Sumber Andalan Research Center berdasarkan karakter hasil dan komponen hasil. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan Benih Sumber Andalan Research Center yang terletak di Kampung Carang Pulang, Kabupaten Bogor, Jawa Barat pada bulan Desember 2022 - Februari 2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan augmented design dengan 20 genotipe uji dan empat pembanding (checks). Berdasarkan hasil seleksi yang diperoleh terhadap karakter pengamatan, diperoleh 15 genotipe terpilih hasil seleksi. Untuk uji keseragaman, 20 genotipe uji telah seragam hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya keseragaman dengan tiga varietas pembanding, hal ini dibuktikan hasil analisis rekapitulasi sidik ragam memiliki nilai koefisien keragaman < 25% pada seluruh karakter yang diamati.

Abstract

Kecenderungan masyarakat dalam meningkatkan taraf hidup yang sehat untuk memanfaatkan bahan herbal sebagai bahan aktif sediaan pangan fungsional, bahan aktif sediaan obat maupun kosmetik cenderung mengalami peningkatan yang berkolerasi secara positif dengan peningkatan jumlah penduduk. Fakta dilapangan yang sering terjadi dan membuat cemas para petani yaitu terjadinya penurunan suatu kualitas bahkan kuantitas dari setiap aktivitas budidaya, sehingga pemenuhan bahan pangan fungsional, bahan aktif obat maupun kosmetik menjadi semakin terhambat. Tantangan dan tanggung jawab seorang pemuliaan tanaman yang memiliki kemampuan pada bidang rekayasa genetika tanaman atau yang dikenal sebagai bioteknologi modern (teknologi DNA rekombinan) menjadi semakin meningkat untuk mengembangkan nya yaitu dengan metode rekayasa partenokarpi (buah tanpa biji), biofisika (radiasi), yang perlu dilakukan pengujian pada fasilitas uji lapangan terbatas, sehingga menjadi tanaman transgenik yang tahan simpan setelah diverivikasi melalui PCR dan divisualisasi gen (DNA) pemabawa partenokarpi hasil PCR melalui gel agarosa. Salah satu tanaman komoditas hortikultura yang dapat dikembangkan sebagai bahan sediaan pangan fungsional, obat, dan kosmetik yaitu tomat. Hasil penelitian terkini telah membuktikan bahwa kandungan tomat berupa likopen sebagai salah satu senyawa metabolit sekunder golongan flavonoid dapat dikembangkan sebagai obat kumur, hipertensi, sebagai sediaan kosmetik berupa formulasi dan sediaan lip balm, dan sabun mandi cair yang bersifat antioksidan. Likopen yang terkandung pada buah tomat berperan penting sebagai sumber antioksidan dalam menangkal radikal bebas, sehingga dapat dikembangkan sebagai bahan pangan fungsional, obat, dan kosmetik melalui jalur rekayasa metabolic (biokimia). jalur biosintesis flavonoid yang terdiri dari dua jalur yaitu jalur siklamat dan asam malonat.

Abstract

This research was aimed to know the effect of Physical Scarification and Soaking Time of Coconut Water to Viability of Soursop Seed (Annona muricata L.). This research was carried out from March until April 2022 at the Greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors. The first factor was the physical scarification, which consists of 3 levels namely S0 (Without scarification), S1 (Sanding one side of the seed), and S2 (Sanding two sides seed). The second factor was soaking time of coconut water, which consists of 3 levels namely L0 (Without soaking), L1 (Soaking time 12 hours), and L2 (Soaking time 24 hours). The combination of the two factors was repeated three times, so that 27 experimental units are obtained. The result showed that the scarification treatment with sanding one side of the seed (S1) gave the best effect on the parameters of germination age (18.22 days), maximum growth potential (58.89%), power of germination (55.56%), normal sprout (51.11%), growth rate (1.70%/day), and seeds that did not grow (44.44%). The soaking time of coconut water 24 hours (L2) gave the best effect on the parameters of germination age (17 days), maximum growth potential (61.11%), power of germination (63.33%), normal sprout (54.44%), growth rate (1.81%/day), and seeds that did not grow (38.89%). There was no interaction between the physical scarification  and the soaking time of coconut water for all parameters of observed.

Abstract

Avocado is one of the plants that can produce crops in tropical countries and is one of the preferred fruit types by Indonesian people. The avocado type grown in Indonesia is the YM Avocado, which is endemic to Lebak. The YM avocado plant is still unknown to the Indonesian public or at least not very popular among them. This is because there is limited access to avocado seedlings and poor avocado growing practices. In the end, there is a need to develop better ways of avocado farming that include proper nutrition. This research bears the following objectives: To analyze the growth performances of avocado seedlings (Persea americana Mill) and the role of different types and concentrations of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF). The study was done from February to April 2024 at the Experimental Field, Faculty of Agriculture Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University Kp. Cikuya Karang Kitri, Sindangsari Village Pabuaran District Serang Regency, Banten. The experimental design used in the study was a factorial Randomized Block Design, RBD, with two factors and three replications. The first factor was the type of LOF, which was further divided into two groups: banana peel LOF and banana stem LOF. The second factor was LOF. It had five levels, and there were five treatments: 0 mL/L water, 80 mL/L water, 160 mL/L water, 240 mL/L water, and 320 mL/L water. Treatment had three groups of plants, and each was given different treatments. There were 30 plants, and they were used as samples. The observation parameters constituted height increase in seedlings, number of leaves, length of leaves, size of the leaf area, and diameter of stem, respectively. The effect was highly significant at p < 0.05, and the result revealed that the banana stem LOF treatment positively impacted the stem diameter parameter, and from the result obtained above, banana stem LOF recorded the best average of 1.09 cm. The potential existed for an interaction between the type of banana peel LOF and the concentration of 320 mL/L water on the seedling height increase parameter.

Abstract

The use of herbal cosmetics is one of the lifestyles that need to be improved in order to implement back to nature. One of the pharmaceutical biotechnology products that can be developed as an antibacterial for Shigella dysentriae and Vibrio cholera made from butterfly pea flower kombucha is bath soap. The use of natural cosmetics is influenced by several factors of the cultivation location used as a sample in the scope of this study. The locations for taking samples of butterfly pea flowers in this study were Pekuncen, Ciwedus, and Cigeblak villages in Cilegon City, Banten. The three locations for cultivating the plant were used to provide information on its potential as an antibacterial in inhibiting the growth of both test bacteria. The study showed that bath soap containing the active ingredient of butterfly pea flower kombucha in each formula and three cultivation locations showed a positive correlation as a pharmaceutical biotechnology product and antibacterial against Shigella dysentriae and Vibrio cholera organisms. The optimal formula to inhibit the growth of both test microorganisms, especially those from butterfly pea flowers cultivated in Pekuncen Village, was a concentration of 40%. This is due to differences in plant cultivation locations, especially the altitude of the place producing different metabolite compound content, especially in this study as antibacterial in inhibiting the growth of both test bacteria.

Abstract

Penggunaan lahan secara intensif dapat menurunkan kesuburan pada tanah sehingga produksi kedelai di Banten menurun. Pemberian pupuk NPK dan pupuk organik cair (POC) buah maja dapat meningkatkan produktivitas hasil tanaman kedelai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh respons pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kedelai (Glycine max (L.) Merril) terhadap pemberian NPK dan pupuk cair organik buah maja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dua faktor. Terdiri atas pupuk NPK (0 g (kontrol), 0,9 g/polybag, 1,8 g/polybag, dan 2,7 g/polybag) dan POC buah maja (10 ml/l, 20 ml/l, 30 ml/l, dan 40 ml/l). Apabila hasil analisis menunjukkan pengaruh nyata atau sangat nyata dilakukan uji lanjut Duncan multiple range test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pupuk NPK memiliki pengaruh nyata pada parameter tinggi tanaman dan umur berbunga. Hasil analisis sidik ragam POC buah maja menunjukkan pengaruh nyata dan sangat nyata pada diameter batang umur 4 dan 5 MST. Terdapat interaksi beda nyata antar pupuk NPK dan POC pada parameter diameter batang hanya umur 2 MST. Aplikasi pupuk NPK dan POC buah maja memberikan pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kedelai.

Abstract

The conventional agricultural system that is applied tends to use chemicals such as pesticides, on the one hand, providing various positive impacts, including increasing productivity quickly, meeting food needs efficiently, and helping food insecurity as often occurs in India. Sustainable agricultural systems are aimed at reducing environmental damage, maintaining agricultural productivity, increasing farmers' income and improving the stability and quality of life of rural communities. Three big indicators that can be seen are that the environment is sustainable, the economy is improving (prosperous), and it is socially accepted by the farming community. Other negative impacts on conventional agricultural systems include decreasing soil quality, giving rise to new pests and diseases, environmentally friendly microorganisms becoming extinct, toxic chemicals threatening the condition of the biosphere in the food chain. The concept of organic farming that is applied ideally is based on optimal, balanced, efficient management of land, water and land, so that existing biodiversity is one of the external efforts to provide a positive impact. In writing this literature review, the sections that will be discussed include the application of conventional agricultural systems that occur in India, suggestions and improvements that can be implemented based on potential such as modeling greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, GHG (Greenhouse Gas) mitigation from agriculture, absorption of element C in agricultural soil, conservation agriculture, reducing nitrous oxide emissions, economic implications of greenhouse gas mitigation, and the use of butterfly pea flower kombucha in agricultural aspects

Abstract

Genetic diversity of Robusta coffee plants (Coffea canephora) can be known by identifying morphological characters. Local Robusta coffee is found in the Karang Mountain area. This study aims to determine the diversity of morphological characters and characteristics that distinguish between plant samples in the Karang Mountain area. This research is an exploratory and descriptive survey with a purposive sampling technique. The variables observed were vegetative and generative morphological characters of plants. The results showed that there was a diversity of plant morphological characters and there were characteristics that distinguished between Robusta coffee plant samples in the Gunung Karang area. Vegetative characters include plant stature, plant height, plant shape, stem stature, stem branching shape, stipule shape, young leaf color, leaf shape, leaf tip shape, leaf edge shape, leaf length, and leaf width. Generative characters include fruit color, fruit shape, fruit width, fruit thickness, seed width, seed thickness, seed color, and seed shape.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effects of organic material concentrations and soaking durations on the growth of var. Citra water apple (Syzygium aqueum) stem cuttings. The experiment was conducted using a factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors: organic material concentration Z1 (100% coconut water), Z2 (10% aloe vera extract), and Z3 (100% coconut water + 10% aloe vera extract), as well as soaking durations P1 (8 hours), P2 (10 hours), and P3 (12 hours). These factors produced 9 treatment combinations, each repeated 3 times, resulting in 27 experimental units. Observed parameters included sprout emergence time, number of sprouts, sprout height, number of leaves, number of roots, root length, and survival rate. The research indicate that the combination of young coconut water and aloe vera extract (Z3) significantly influenced the number of leaves at 4 Weeks After Planting (WAP), with an average of 11,44 leaves. The soaking duration had a significant effect on sprouting time, with the 8-hour soaking treatment (P1) resulting in the earliest sprouting at an average of 7,16 days. Additionally, the number of shoots at 3, 4, and 5 WAP in the P1 treatment had average heights of 9,94 cm, 10 cm, and 8,33 cm, respectively. The number of leaves at 4 WAP in the P1 treatment averaged 11,55, while the number of roots at the end of the study averaged 10,83 in the P1 treatment. Keywords: Stem cuttings, Var.
