Abstract

The prevalence of mental disorders in Tasikmalaya City continues to increase, based on the results of a preliminary study that the number of patients with mental disorders registered at the Tamansari Health Center is 60 people, while data on risk disorders and mentally healthy communities is not yet available. Therefore, the community service team will train mentally healthy cadres to be able to identify through early detection of mental health problems, provide mental health counseling and be able to apply SEFT therapy so that the community can maintain their health. This community service activity is a training activity for 30 mentally healthy cadres, with the material provided being early detection of mental health problems and mental health counseling activities as well as training cadres with SEFT therapy as an independent disaster response effort. with lecture methods, questions and answers, and role play. The activity was carried out in a series of community service programs for the IPTEKS for the community (IbM) Tasikmalaya Health Polytechnic. The activity was carried out in June-November 2024. The results of the training showed that the cadre's knowledge score about early detection and community mental health counseling techniques increased by 12.2 points compared to before. Statistically, using the Wilcoxon test, the results showed a difference in the average knowledge score before and after training, with a significance level of ρ = 0.0001 (ρ <0.05). It is expected that after being given training, the posyandu cadres will contribute to increasing community knowledge about mental health through counseling activities, providing guidance and monitoring to families who have family members with mental disorders and can apply SEFT therapy to people who experience psychosocial disorders. The conclusion is that there is an increase in the knowledge of mental health cadres after being given training

Abstract

This article explores the multifaceted challenges facing English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education in Indonesia, focusing on the interplay between national policy, curriculum implementation, and classroom practices. Employing a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, this study synthesizes findings from academic publications, government reports, and international research from 2004 to 2024. The analysis reveals persistent issues, including policy-practice gaps, limited teacher training, resource disparities, and insufficient attention to local contexts in curriculum development. Additionally, classroom-level obstacles such as mixed-ability learners, low motivation, and lack of authentic materials hinder effective language instruction. The study emphasizes the need for adaptive pedagogical approaches, continuous professional development, and a more localized curriculum design. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of EFL complexities in Indonesia and offer insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers committed to enhancing English education across diverse regions.

Abstract

Di era digital yang semakin kompleks, mahasiswa pekerja menghadapi tantangan ganda dalam menyeimbangkan tanggung jawab akademik dan pekerjaan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan sosialisasi literasi digital kepada mahasiswa pekerja, serta mengidentifikasi tantangan akademik yang mereka hadapi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahap, dimulai dengan tahap persiapan, sosialisasi, latihan penggunaan aplikasi AI, dan diskusi. Sepuluh mahasiswa aktif dari Universitas Musamus Merauke yang bekerja penuh waktu menjadi peserta dalam kegiatan ini yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 20 Maret 2025. Hasil sosialisasi menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa belum familiar dengan pemanfaatan aplikasi kecerdasan buatan (AI) untuk keperluan akademik, meskipun mereka menunjukkan kemampuan adaptasi yang cepat dalam penggunaannya. Temuan FGD mengungkapkan bahwa tatangan utama yang mereka hadapi meliputi manajemen waktu, beban tugas akademik, dan keterbatasan akses terhadap sumber referensi. Temuan ini menegaskan perlunya intervensi strategis berupa pelatihan literasi digital yang aplikatif dan berkelanjutan untuk memberdayakan mahasiswa pekerja.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kemasan, harga dan kualitas produk terhadap minat beli Evangeline Eau de parfume, Variabel independen dalam penelitian ini Adalah kemasan (X1) harga (X2) dan kualitas produk (X3), sedangkan variabel dependen Adalah minat beli (Y). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan regresi linear berganda. Data dikumpulkan melalui koesioner dan analisis data dilakukan menggunakan SPSS. Ada beberapa Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, diantaranya dengan menggunakan analisis regresi liniear berganda, koefisien determinasi, dan uji hipotesis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemasan (X1), harga (X2) dan kualitas produk (X3) berpengaruh positif terhadap minat beli (Y). Dengan analisis regresi berganda didapatkan persamaan Y =  6,115  +  0,598 (X1)  + 0,566  (X2) + 0,462 (X3) seta koefisien determinasi (R^2)  sebesar 0,525 atau 52,5%. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis yaitu nilai t (parsial) dan uji f (simultan) dengan nilai F-Hitung (31.687) > F-tabel (2,71) dengan nilai signifikan ( 0,001) < 0,05 maka secara bersama-sama variabel tersebut berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap minat beli. Kata Kunci: Kemasan, Harga, Kualitas Produk, Minat Beli.

Abstract

English for Specific Purposes means learning English based on students’ needs. This research focuses on developmental research that aims to develop English for Specific Purposes book for Chemistry Education Department students of Musamus University and also to know the effectiveness of the book on the student's ability in English. The ADDIE Research and Development (R&D) model was used in this research. This ESP book was developed based on the problem and the need of the students in Chemistry Education at Musamus University. This developmental research consisted of five stages including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The first was an analysis which means the researcher found out the need of the students before developing the book. The second was designed that prepared the content of the book. The third is a developmental stage that developed the content of the book which consisted of 12 chapters and doing the validation. The fourth is the implementation of the book in the teaching and learning process. The last was doing a trial of the book to know its effectiveness. The students of chemistry education were given the pre-test and post-test based on the content of the book. The pre-test was given before implementing the book while the post-test was given after implementing the book. The results of the ESP book that has been made indicate the following points: 1) the book based on the student's need, 2.) the content of the book was based on learning objectives and the experts gave good comments on the book content, 3.) The mean score for the pretest was 75.77, while the mean score for the post-test was 80.54. The result of this research can be concluded that English for Chemistry Students book was worthy and could improve the English ability of Chemistry Education Department students at Musamus University. Thus, this book can be a reference in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study investigates the motivations and attitudes towards learning English among law students in Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach, 54 law students from a prominent Indonesian university were surveyed. Descriptive statistics and correlation analyses were employed to examine relationships between motivational factors, attitudes, and self-assessed proficiency. The findings reveal strong instrumental motivation driven by career prospects and academic advancement. While students value English proficiency, a notable gap exists between perceived importance and self-assessed language skills, mainly speaking and listening. Challenges in legal vocabulary acquisition and oral communication were identified as key areas for improvement. The study also found a preference for multimedia and interactive learning methods. These insights provide valuable direction for enhancing legal English education in Indonesia, suggesting a more tailored, interactive, and technology-enhanced approach that addresses law students' specific needs and preferences.

Abstract

Syntax is the study about the pattern of the language and mastery of syntax plays a crucial role in understanding grammatically correct English. This research aims to investigate the common errors made by students when constructing tree diagrams for phrases and sentences. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method. There were eight students involved in this research who took the syntax class from the English Education Department at Musamus University. Data were collected through written tests in which students were asked to construct tree diagrams for noun phrases, verb phrases, prepositional phrases, and sentences. The result showed that students got difficulty in constructing tree diagram for sentence level and prepositional phrase level. The findings show varying levels of student performance. For phrase level analysis, 100% of students correctly constructed the tree diagram for a noun phrase, and 87.5% succeeded with the verb phrase. However, only 37.5% accurately analyzed the prepositional phrase, indicating significant difficulty with this type. At the sentence level, accuracy dropped further: 75% of students made errors in constructing tree diagrams for more complex sentences such as "The beautiful girl cares of her cat" and "The smart students in the library are smiling gaily", while 87.5% made errors on a simpler sentence, "I have one sister". These results suggest that while students generally grasp phrase structures, they struggle with full sentence constructions and hierarchical syntactic patterns. The study highlights the need for more focused instruction and practice in sentence-level syntax and tree diagram construction to improve students’ analytical skills and grammatical proficiency.

Abstract

Efektivitas pembelajaran dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya kesiapan belajar di awal pembelajaran. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah sebagai bentuk upaya meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran mahasiswa jurusan pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Papua Selatan dalam hal pemahaman dasar-dasar Bahasa Inggris, selain itu untuk melihat faktor penyebab minimnya pemahaman Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa tahun pertama Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Papua Selatan. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 3 dosen berlatar belakang pendidikan Bahasa Inggris dan 40 mahasiswa tahun pertama jurusan pendidikan Bahasa Inggris pada salah satu Universitas di Papua Selatan. Tahapan dalam kegiatan ini adalah tes diagnosa, pengajaran Bahasa Inggris intensif, post-test, dan wawancara. Dari hasil ditemukan bahwa terdapat terdapat peningkatan pemahaman Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa tahun pertama dan beberapa penyebab minimnya pemamahan Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa: tingkat kehadiran guru dan siswa, metodde pengajaran,  faktor motivasi dan lingkungan belajar.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman dan pelatihan penulisan abstrak artikel ilmiah kepada mahasiswa Universitas Musamus. Artikel ilmiah adalah salah satu jenis karya tulis yang harus dihasilkan oleh mahasiswa dan abstrak sebagai salah satu komponen penting adalah wajah artikel yang memberikan kesan awal bagi pembaca. Sayangnya sebagian besar dari mahasiswa belum paham akan struktur penulisannya. Peserta pelatihan adalah 27 mahasiswa Universitas Musamus dengan 3 orang dosen sebagai narasumber dan pelatih. Tahapan pelaksanaan pelatihan meliputi observasi, persiapan, pelatihan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan pelatihan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa mengenai aspek vital dari sebuah artikel dan juga mampu menulis abstrak dari artikel ilmiah. Dengan demikian kegiatan ini berhasil memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan bagi mahasiswa yang dapat memfasilitasi kebutuhan mereka dalam penulisan abstrak di kemudian hari.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji implementasi program pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui lagu untuk siswa sekolah dasar di Kampung Koa, Distrik Animha, Papua Selatan. Lokasi yang terpencil dengan keterbatasan fasilitas pendidikan menjadi tantangan utama dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan bahasa Inggris. Program ini melibatkan 30 siswa dari kelas 4-6 SD YPPK Koa selama tiga bulan. Menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis lagu dan Total Physical Response (TPR), program ini berhasil meningkatkan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris siswa sebesar 65%, dari rata-rata nilai 45,3 menjadi 74,8. Evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam berbagai kategori kosa kata, dengan peningkatan tertinggi pada pembelajaran anggota tubuh (85%) dan terendah pada nama-nama hari (75%). Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa keterbatasan fasilitas dapat diatasi melalui metode pembelajaran kreatif dan pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal. Program ini memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap pengembangan model pembelajaran bahasa Inggris adaptif untuk daerah terpencil.
