Abstract

The globalization era has had an impact on the existence of the Indonesian language. Responding to this issue, Indonesian language is important to learn through the education level in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the content, implementation, and challenges of the compulsory curriculum course Indonesian language learning policy in tertiary institutions. This research method used a literature review sourced by policy documents and scientific journal articles. The results showed that the Indonesian language learning policy was released by the government of the Republic of Indonesia in various regulations contained in Law Number 12 of 2012, Government Regulation Number 57 of 2021, and Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 84/E/KPT /2020. The existence of this policy provides an overview of the standard of learning Indonesian language in higher education. Generally, policies regarding learning Indonesian language in higher education have been implemented, although there are still various obstacles. The challenges of the implementation include advances in technological development, student language mastery, and digital-based learning components. The involvement of various parties is needed in order to achieve the expected policy objectives.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Bahasa merupakan wahana komunikasi bagi manusia, baik komunikasi lisan maupun komunikasi tulis. Setiap komunikasi, khususnya komunikasi tertulis, dibutuhkan kalimat-kalimat yang baik. Kalimat yang baik erat kaitannya dengan penggunaan kalimat efektif. Berdasarkan fenomena yang terjadi akhir- akhir ini ditemukan bahwa produktivitas guru masih rendah dalam menyampaikan ujaran menggunakan kalimat efektif. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan agar para guru di RA Bani Barun Majalengka dapat memahami dan menerapkan kalimat efektif pada Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris. Metode pelaksanaan pelatihan ini terdiri dari empat tahap diantaranya kegiatan sosialisasi, pengenalan kalimat efektif, pelatihan kalimat efektif, dan praktik penerapan kalimat efektif. Hasil kegiatan ini yaitu kompetensi guru mengenai penerapan kalimat efektif meningkat. Hal ini tergambar dari partisipasi aktif para guru dalam menyimak materi, diskusi, dan mengerjakan tugas yang diberikan oleh narasumber. Selain itu, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini juga tergolong berhasil karena sesuai dengan tahapan-tahapan pelaksanaan yang telah ditentukan. Adapun tindak lanjut dari kegiatan ini adalah pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat kembali dengan pola paragraf dan pengembangan paragraf pada bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris. ABSTRACT Language is a means of communication for humans, both oral communication and written communication. Every communication, especially written communication, requires good sentences. Good sentences are closely related to the use of effective sentences. Based on the phenomenon that has occurred recently, it was found that teacher productivity is still low in conveying utterances using effective sentences. This community service program aims to enable teachers of RA Bani Barun Majalengka to understand and apply effective sentences in both Indonesian and English. The method of implementing this training consists of four stages including socialization activities, introduction to effective sentences, training of effective sentences, and practice of applying effective sentences. The result of this activity shows that the teacher's competence regarding the application of effective sentences increases evidenced from the teachers’ active participation in listening to the material, discussion, and working on the assignments given by the presenters. In addition, this community service program is classified as successful since it meets the target proposed by the team. The follow-up theme for the next community service program will be paragraph patterns and paragraph development in Indonesian and English.

Abstract

News of the 2024 presidential election has begun to emerge through mass media, especially in digital media. With the digitization, the development of news has become so fast. Without realizing it, this progress can be eroded by the flow of information that is always dynamic. News must be of character and quality. Journalists must always have their own strategies, tactics, and moves in creating ideology to the audience through published news texts. This study principally aims to describe the ideology of the 2024 presidential bid on digital media in Indonesia: Teun A. van Dijk's perspective which focuses on digital media Kompas.com. The sample in this study is 5 news published in April-May with the theme "2024 election". The source of the news is digital media Kompas.com published from April to May 2023. This research is qualitative with a descriptive method. The validation technique is carried out with diligence in making direct observations of the news based on news snippets. The results explain the emergence of actors as positive subjects, implied messages based on special interests, and the powerful role of journalists' ideology published on Kompas.com. This can be seen through the macro aspect element; and, the last superstructure, namely the micro. Pemberitaan pencapresan tahun 2024 sudah mulai bermunculan melalui media massa terutama di media digital. Dengan adanya digitalisasi perkembangan pemberitaan menjadi begitu cepat. Tanpa disadari kemajuan ini bisa saja tergerus oleh arus informasi yang selalu dinamis. Pemberitaan harus berkarakter dan berkualitas. Wartawan harus selalu mempunyai strategi, taktik, dan jurus tersendiri dalam menciptakan ideologi ke khalayak lewat teks berita yang dipublikasikan. Penelitian ini pada prinsipnya bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan ideologi pencapresan tahun 2024 pada media digital di Indonesia: Perspektif Teun A. van Dijk yang difokuskan kepada media digital Kompas.com. Sampel dalam penelitian ini ialah 5 berita yang terbit pada bulan April--Mei bertemakan “pencapresan 2024”. Sumber berita ialah media digital Kompas.com yang terbit bulan April sampai dengan Mei 2023. Penelitian ini berjenis kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengabsahan dilakukan dengan ketekunan dalam melakukan pengamatan langsung dari pemberitaan berdasarkan cuplikan berita. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan adanya pemunculan aktor sebagai subjek yang positif, pesan tersirat atas dasar kepentingan khusus, dan peran kuasa dari ideologi wartawan yang dipublikasikan di Kompas.com. Hal itu terlihat melalui elemen aspek makro dan, superstruktur yang terakhir yaitu mikro.

Abstract

The study starts from the particularities owned the collection of poems Perempuan Wali Kota Suryatati A Manan. The specificity contained in the repetition of words in poetry. The repetition of a word or phrase in the poem expressed as reps. Repetition in a poem creates the aesthetic value of the poem. It is contained in a collection of poems Perempuan Wali Kota Suryatati A Manan. Through this study, the author examines the message delivered in a collection of poetry Women authors mayor expressed through repetition idiomatic meaning. Therefore, the assessment focused on the meaning of idiomatic repetition contained in a collection of poems Perempuan Wali Kota Suryatati A Manan. This is formulated problem is how the idiomatic meaning reps on a collection of poems Perempuan Wali Kota Suryatati A Manan. The purpose of this study is to explain and describe the meaning of idiomatic repetitions on a collection of poems Perempuan Wali KotaSuryatati A Manan. This research data is a letter, word, or phrase containing repetition. Source of research data derived from a collection of poems Perempuan Wali Kota Suryatati A Manan. The data collection was done by using the documentation. Data analysis was performed using the idiomatic meaning of the word at the role of repetition in the collection of poems Perempuan Wali Kota Suryatati A Manan works in construction. The results showed no repetition idiomatic meaning that the writer used to convey a message to the reader.

Abstract

Gurindam Dua Belas is an old poem derived from an old manuscript by Raja Ali Haji, which is important to study based on the syntactic aspect. This current study examines the origins of phrases, clauses, and sentences in Gurindam Dua Belas written by Raja Ali Haji. This study analyses Gurindam Dua Belas written by Raja Ali Haji, in terms of syntactic aspects. The qualitative approach was used in this research with a descriptive analysis method. The data source is a written source, namely the text of Gurindam Dua Belas by Raja Ali Haji, which consists of 12 articles. The data collection technique used a documentation study. The research instrument was the researcher himself as the main instrument assisted by recording card of data. Data analysis was carried out through the reduction stage, the data presentation stage, and then drawing conclusions and verification stages. Based on a review of 3 aspects of syntactic studies, namely function, category, and role, the results show that in the functional aspect, the predicate function of Gurindam Dua Belas text is predominantly used in the structure of syntactic analysis compared to other functions. In the category aspect, the dominant array of Gurindam Dua Belas used is the nominal phrase category. The largest use of the syntactic role used in Gurindam Dua Belas by Raja Ali Haji is the role as a verb or action. Based on an analysis of the syntactic form, it is identified that each article has a different sentence structure. The dominant sentences in the 83 stanzas of Gurindam Dua Belas by Raja Ali Haji are compound.

Abstract

Writing effective sentences is an important skill to be mastered. However, obstacles still are found among university students. This study aims to analyze and describe the student’s ability to compose sentences effectively while writing at Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya. This research used qualitative research. The research conducted was at Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya, Bekasi City. The subjects of this study consisted of 34 undergraduate students who studied the general introductory course of the Indonesian language. The data was collected through an effective sentence writing ability test, observation, and interviews. The data analysis technique used Miles and Huberman analysis, which consisted of four stages: data collection, data reduction, data display, and verification or data conclusion. The results show that the achievement of students' ability of effective sentence writing was generally in a good category. in another side, several students still had not mastered all indicators of effective sentence writing. The aspect of diction is the most mastered by students, while the aspect of reasoning (logical) is the most challenging aspect for students. Student's difficulties in writing effective sentences were found in 4 indicators, including 32% in the grammatical aspect, 41% in the reasoning aspect, 24% in the economic aspect, and 35% in the parallelism aspect. The results of this study imply that learning effective sentence writing still needs to be improved in higher education, so the proper learning of Indonesian language courses is needed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: 1) RPP yang berisi aspek indikator keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik bagi siswa kelas 5, kegiatan belajar-mengajar keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik menggunakan teknik tes pilihan ganda opsi unik, dan tes keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik bentuk pilihan ganda 4 opsi; 2) hasil belajar keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas 5 SDS Muhammadiyah 2 Jakarta; berlangsung pada awal semester genap 2023/2024. Populasi berjumlah 19 siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan belajar keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik menggunakan teknik tes pilihan ganda opsi unik. Sampel ditetapkan sebanyak 18 siswa yang dipilih secara random tanpa pengembalian. Untuk pedoman pembelajaran digunakan RPP yang berisi aspek: 1) indikator keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik bagi siswa kelas 5; 2) kegiatan belajar-mengajar keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik menggunakan teknik tes pilihan ganda opsi unik; 3) tes keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik bentuk pilihan ganda 4 opsi. Instrumen tes disusun mengikuti spesifikasi tes sehingga syarat validitas terpenuhi. Data memntah hasil tes diolah dengan cara memberi skor 1 untuk setiap jawaban benar, tetapi skor 0 untuk jawaban salah. Data mentah dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif yakni prinsip mean, persen, dan simpangan baku. Hasil penelitian: 1) RPP berisi 10 indikator tersurat dan tersirat, 17 jenis kegiatan belajar-mengajar keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik menggunakan teknik tes pilihan ganda opsi unik, dan seperangkat tes keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik bentuk pilihan ganda 4 opsi berjumlah 10 soal; 2) hasil belajar keterampilan membaca teks cerpen profetik termasuk dalam kategori tinggi.

Abstract

National insight is an important concept that should be internalized by the younger generation. The understanding of national insight among students, as the younger generation, is still categorized as insufficient, so efforts are needed to strengthen national insight through the Compulsory Curriculum Subjects of Indonesian Language. This research aims to reveal the ideology of national insight within the teaching materials of Compulsory Curriculum Subjects of Indonesian Language from Norman Fairclough's perspective in 2013 with the theory of critical discourse analysis. This research used a qualitative approach. The research data were obtained from texts in the teaching materials of Compulsory Curriculum Subjects of Indonesian Language. Texts containing the concept of national insight were analyzed using Norman Fairclough's 2013 model of critical discourse analysis. The research data obtained were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation and verification. The data validation in this research was conducted using triangulation techniques. The results showed that in terms of the text aspect, both texts represent the ideology of love for the nation and homeland, as well as the aspiration for a just and prosperous society, through a text theme focusing on the obligation to pay taxes. In terms of discourse practice, the role of language in both texts serves as a tool for promoting an ideology by the involved groups. Furthermore, in terms of social-cultural practice, both texts emphasize socio-economic aspects. In conclusion, the teaching materials of Compulsory Curriculum Subjects of Indonesian Language represent several ideologies of national insight through texts that are presented as a means of spreading ideology by considering social and economic aspects. The results of this research have implications for national insight education for students in higher education through texts containing national insight contained in teaching material of Compulsory Curriculum Subjects of Indonesian Language.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki populasi yang besar, mencapai 278,7 juta jiwa pada tahun 2023, yang menimbulkan tantangan dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Pertumbuhan penduduk yang cepat dapat menghambat pencapaian tujuan pembangunan, termasuk pengurangan kemiskinan dan peningkatan Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengelompokkan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi IPM di Kabupaten/Kota di Jawa Tengah, serta memahami perbedaan dalam pembangunan ekonomi dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis kluster dengan pendekatan single linkage dan K-Means. Data yang digunakan merupakan data sekunder dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) tahun 2022, yang mencakup variabel harapan hidup, garis kemiskinan, jumlah penduduk, rata-rata lama sekolah, dan tingkat pengangguran terbuka. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa metode K-Means dengan tiga kluster optimal berhasil mengelompokkan provinsi berdasarkan karakteristik yang berbeda. Kluster 1 memiliki jumlah penduduk tertinggi, kluster 2 memiliki garis kemiskinan tertinggi, dan kluster 3 menunjukkan angka harapan hidup tertinggi. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi adanya perbedaan yang signifikan dalam faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi IPM di Kabupaten atau Kota di Jawa Tengah. Hasil ini dapat menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan kebijakan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat dan mencapai tujuan pembangunan yang lebih efektif.

Abstract

Several studies have found that learning English outside of school through Extramural English (EE) activities such as online gaming can enhance students' English language ability. However, not many information exists on whether this so-called extramural English gaming activity has implications on students' pragmatic competence. To answer that, this study aims to explore the effect of extramural gaming activity toward students’ pragmatic competence. The research was done by employing a task called the Multiple-Choice Discourse Completion Task (MCDCT) on 60 second-grade students interested in extramural gaming activity (male = 26, female = 34) in Luwuk, Indonesia. Students were divided into two groups, 30 gamer students and 30 non-gamer students. The students were instructed to answer several real-world communicative situations given in the MCDCT task. The data analyzed using statistical descriptive methods. The results of the study revealed that students who frequently played online games (M=3.523) were slightly better at doing the MCDCT than non-gamer students (M=3.220). Thus, it concluded that extramural gaming activity positively affected students' pragmatic competence.
