Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of the announcement of debt write-off policy on the abnormal returns of state-owned banking stocks. A quantitative method with an event study approach is employed to analyze market reactions to the announcement. The research sample consists of four state-owned banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, with stock price data collected from December 29, 2023, to November 19, 2024. The findings indicate a negative impact of the debt write-off policy announcement on the cumulative average abnormal return (CAAR), suggesting that investors perceive the policy as unfavorable. This reaction is associated with potential moral hazard in its implementation. The study underscores the importance of transparency and government assurances regarding financial performance in the context of such policies. It also recommends that financial practitioners consider the implications of policy announcements on stock market reactions. This research contributes to the understanding of market efficiency theory in responding to new information and provides insights for policymakers and investors. Future studies are encouraged to explore long-term impacts and incorporate qualitative approaches or additional variables, such as global economic events, to offer a more comprehensive analysis.

Abstract

Zakat distribution in Indonesia has generally been limited to material measurements, which often results in an imbalanced impact on mustahik , especially in the context of productive zakat. To address this gap, the CIBEST (Center for Islamic Business and Economic Studies) model is recognized as an effective tool for measuring both material and spiritual dimensions of welfare. This study focuses on productive zakat recipients ( mustahik ) under the auspices of BAZNAS in the Ajatappareng region, specifically in Parepare City and Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and descriptive qualitative analysis, while using the CIBEST model to evaluate the impact of zakat distribution. Findings reveal that BAZNAS distributes both productive and consumptive zakat—including cash assistance, business equipment, and staple food—alongside training, mentoring, and empowerment programs. Based on the CIBEST quadrant analysis, significant shifts occurred in the material and spiritual poverty classifications of mustahik . Before receiving zakat, households were distributed as follows: Quadrant I (10 households), Quadrant II (22), Quadrant III (0), and Quadrant IV (3). After receiving productive zakat, the distribution changed markedly to: Quadrant I (29 households), Quadrant II (6), Quadrant III (0), and Quadrant IV (0). A paired-sample statistical test showed a significant difference in household income before and after zakat assistance, with a p-value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (< 0.05). These findings confirm that productive zakat distribution by BAZNAS has a positive and statistically significant impact on improving the economic welfare of mustahik in the Ajatappareng region.

Abstract

Zakat is not only an act of worship to Allah but also a vital instrument for enhancing social welfare when managed effectively. In Ajatappareng, the potential for zakat is substantial; however, actual collections have yet to meet targeted levels. This shortfall is largely attributed to limited understanding and awareness among potential payers. This study aims to examine the collaborative governance process in zakat management by BAZNAS Ajatappareng. The research adopts the collaborative process framework of Ansell and Gash, which includes four dimensions: initial conditions, leadership, institutional design, and collaborative process. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and supporting documents. Informants were selected via purposive sampling, and data analysis followed three stages: reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that while BAZNAS Ajatappareng has engaged in collaborative efforts with multiple stakeholders, certain aspects particularly human resource capacity and impact assessment remain suboptimal. The study recommends adopting best practices from other BAZNAS branches with proven success in zakat collection to strengthen future collaborative strategies.

Abstract

Zakat-based empowerment programs are an important instrument in supporting sustainable community development, yet studies assessing their effectiveness at the local level remain limited. In particular, empirical evidence on how zakat programs align with sharia economic principles while enhancing the welfare of beneficiaries is still underexplored. This study seeks to fill this gap by examining the impact of the BAZNAS Z-Auto Program on community economic empowerment in Barru Regency. The research employed a mixed-method case study approach that combined descriptive quantitative and qualitative analysis, allowing for an in-depth understanding of both program outcomes and implementation mechanisms. Data were collected from mustahik beneficiaries, program documentation, and institutional reports to capture the program’s effectiveness and challenges. The findings indicate that the Z-Auto Program has positively contributed to improving the economic welfare of mustahik through the provision of productive facilities and targeted assistance. Moreover, the integration of sharia principles is evident: siddiq (truthfulness) through transparent beneficiary selection and reporting, amanah (trustworthiness) in fund management, fathonah (professionalism) in planning and mentoring, and tabligh (transparency) in communication. While some challenges remain in disseminating information broadly, the overall synergy of these principles enhances program sustainability. These results enrich the literature on zakat-based empowerment and provide practical insights for policymakers and zakat institutions in designing more effective and sharia-compliant community development strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of accountability and transparency on the performance of Bawaslu Sidrap in managing the 2024 election budget. The research employs a quantitative descriptive approach with an associative design. The population includes all employees of Bawaslu Sidenreng Rappang Regency involved in the 2024 general election, and data were collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms. The results indicate that accountability achieved 77%, transparency 74%, and performance 74%, exceeding the expected value of 65%. Correlation analysis demonstrates that both accountability (X1) and transparency (X2) have a strong and significant relationship with Bawaslu performance (Y), with Pearson correlation coefficients of 0.679 and 0.722, respectively. The t-test shows that accountability significantly influences performance (p = 0.028 < 0.05), whereas transparency does not show a significant effect (p = 0.62 > 0.05). The F-test results confirm that accountability and transparency simultaneously have a significant effect on performance, suggesting that the variables complement each other when assessed together. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening accountability mechanisms to enhance Bawaslu’s effectiveness in managing election budgets. Although transparency supports good governance, its independent effect on performance is limited. Therefore, integrated strategies focusing on accountability improvement are essential to optimize institutional performance and ensure credible and efficient budget management.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of sharia-compliant digital marketing strategies to enhance the sales turnover of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Parepare City. Using a qualitative approach with a case study methodology, data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research focuses on understanding the effectiveness of digital marketing through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok while adhering to Islamic ethical principles. The findings reveal that before adopting digital marketing strategies, MSMEs in Parepare City experienced stagnant, declining, or inconsistent turnover due to reliance on traditional marketing methods. However, after utilizing social media for product promotion, most MSMEs reported turnover increases ranging from 20% to 80%. Facebook emerged as the most widely used platform, providing significant outreach and engagement opportunities. Additionally, TikTok and Instagram contributed to customer engagement through creative and interactive content. From an Islamic perspective, the study highlights that MSME actors operate their businesses in line with the principles of falah (worldly and spiritual prosperity), emphasizing transparency, fairness, and ethical practices in their marketing efforts. The adoption of sharia-compliant digital marketing strategies not only enhanced sales performance but also supported sustainable and ethical business operations. This study underscores the potential of digital marketing as a transformative tool for MSMEs, particularly when aligned with Islamic values. Future research could expand the scope by exploring additional sectors or regions to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the impact of digital marketing strategies on business growth.
