Abstract

Abstract. Quail is a small but fat land fowl. One of the most popular types of quail is the quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Quail is a diversified source of meat and egg products. In raising quail, the cost of feed is very high, reaching 70% of the total cost of quail production. Rice bran is an industrial waste that still has a high enough nutritional value but has the disadvantage that it contains high fiber, to overcome this, it needs to be fermented to improve the quality of the feed ingredients. The protein content of rice bran ranges from 8 -12%, rice bran is very taken into account in the preparation of poultry rations. This study used a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 3 replications. Each replication consisted of 3 quail so the number of quail used was 45. The treatments were as follows: P0 = Treatment of 100% artificial ration, P1 = Treatment of 95% ration + 5% fermented rice bran, P2 = Treatment of 90% ration + 10% fermented rice bran, P3 = Treatment of 85% ration + 15 % fermented rice bran, P4 = treatment 80% ration + 10% fermented rice bran. The data obtained will be analyzed using variance and if between treatments shows a significant effect, then proceed with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT).. The results showed that the provision of rations containing fermented rice bran had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the variables of Protein Content, Cooking Loss, and Water Holding Capacity, while the water content variable showed significant results (P<0.05). At the level of administration, 20% fermented rice bran produced the optimal chemical quality of male quail meat.

Abstract

The problem being faced by farmer groups in the rainy season is the increased growth of fungi that cause plant diseases, such as Rigdiforus lignosus fungi, Fusarium oxysporum, Rizoctonia solani, Fusarium monilifome, Sclerotium rolfsii, and Sclerotium rilfisil fungi. With the concept of controlling plant-disrupting organisms (OPT) naturally, to get healthy plant cultivation free from disease (especially plant diseases caused by pathogenic fungi), Trichoderma compost (TrichoCompost Fertilizer) is applied. Interviews, face-to-face, counseling, and direct practice methods will do the method to implement this training. This activity aims to train participants to understand how to make Trichoderma compost as organic fertilizer to get healthy organic vegetables. The output target to be achieved is using appropriate technology in cow manure processing technology into compost plus Trichoderma sp. Based on the results of activities, Trichoderma compost can suppress pathogenic fungi by 98.53% so that farmer groups produce healthy plants free of pathogenic diseases.

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a type of aquaculture commodity that has high economic value as a freshwater consumption fish in the world. Efforts to increase the quantity and quality of commercial feed have an impact on the operational costs of intensive fish farming, namely more than (60-70%) of the total production costs. One effort to overcome dependence on imported feed raw materials is the use of local raw materials. The local raw materials used must have high nutritional value, be non-toxic, relatively cheap, very abundant and not compete with human needs, including Japanese papaya leaves. The use of Japanese papaya leaf flour as a source of carbohydrates and protein in fish feed cannot be done optimally because it contains high levels of fiber and tannin which can bind the minerals needed by fish.

Abstract

Quail meat is a valuable source of animal protein, but its perishable nature requires proper storage methods to prevent spoilage. This study examined the effects of storage time and packaging type on quail carcass quality. A completely randomized design with a factorial pattern was used, focusing on two factors: storage time and packaging type, including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and plastic wrap. Variables observed were color, pH, water holding capacity, protein content, and total microbial count. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by the Duncan test for significant results (P < 0.05). The results showed that quail carcasses packed with PP plastic had the best quality after 9 days of cold storage, with a pH of 6.22, water holding capacity of 51.45%, protein content of 20.59%, and microbial count of 1.2 x 10⁶ cfu/gram. PP plastic, with a thickness of 0.8 mm, proved more effective than PE plastic (0.3 mm) and plastic wrap (0.2 mm) in preventing contamination, as thicker packaging provides a tighter seal, reducing air gaps that could allow bacteria to enter. Thus, PP plastic packaging is more effective in preserving quail carcass quality during storage, offering better protection against spoilage.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of mangosteen peel extract immersion on the quality of broiler chicken eggs during storage. Mangosteen peel (Garcinia mangostana L) contains bioactive compounds, such as xanthones, with antioxidant properties that can protect cells from oxidative damage, including egg cells. The research employed a completely randomized design with two factors: different concentrations of mangosteen peel extract (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) and storage durations (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks). Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by the Duncan test for significant results (P < 0.05). The findings revealed a highly significant effect (P < 0.01) of mangosteen peel extract on egg quality, measured through pH, egg white index, egg yolk index, and Haugh unit. Notably, eggs soaked in 10% mangosteen peel extract for 24 hours showed the highest Haugh unit value after 4 weeks of storage. The study suggests that tannins in the extract prevent egg white dilution, effectively preserving egg quality during storage.

Abstract

Brachiaria decumbens grass is a high-quality forage that can grow well in tropical regions and has great potential in improving the efficiency of ruminant livestock production. This research aims to determine the effect of rabbit manure fertilizer on the physical quality and Total Digestible Nutrients (TDN) content of Brachiaria decumbens grass, as well as to determine the best dosage for its application. The research was conducted using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five treatments: P0 (without fertilizer), P1 (10 tons/ha), P2 (20 tons/ha), P3 (30 tons/ha), and P4 (40 tons/ha), each with three replications. The observed variables included bulk density, water solubility, water absorption, TDN, and gross energy. The analysis results showed that the application of rabbit manure fertilizer had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on water solubility and water absorption, and a significant effect (P<0.05) on bulk density. Treatment P4 produced the best values with the lowest bulk density (231.28 g/cm³), highest water absorption (10.47%), and lowest water solubility (25.51%). Although the TDN and gross energy values were not significantly different (P>0.05), both showed an increasing trend, reaching 24.34% and 3.61 kcal/g respectively in treatment P4. These results indicate that the application of rabbit manure fertilizer can improve the physical quality and tends to increase the nutritional value of the grass. A dosage of 40 tons/ha is recommended as the optimal treatment for sustainable cultivation of Brachiaria decumbens grass

Abstract

Bede grass (Brachiaria decumbens) is a plant that has good quality for green fodder. This can be seen from the growth rate, production and nutritional content contained therein. This study aims to determine the effect of providing solid organic fertilizer on the growth of Bede grass (Brachiaria decumbens) and to determine the effect of providing solid organic fertilizer with different doses on the growth of Bede grass (Brachiaria decumbens). The design used in this study was a randomized block design (RAK) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments used were P0 = Grass without providing solid organic fertilizer, P1 = Grass with providing 10 tons/ha of solid organic fertilizer, P2 = Grass with providing 20 tons/ha of solid organic fertilizer, P3 = Grass with providing 30 tons/ha of solid organic fertilizer, P4 = Grass with providing 40 tons/ha of solid organic fertilizer. From the results of the study, the provision of solid organic fertilizer had no significant effect (P>0.05) on all growth and production parameters of Bede grass (Brachiaria decum bens), except for the production of fresh leaf weight, which showed a significantly different effect (P<0.05). This shows that the application of solid organic fertilizer with various doses has not provided a significant effect on the vegetative growth of plants. The provision of solid organic fertilizer with different doses did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on the growth of Brachiaria decumbens. However, the provision of solid organic fertilizer with a dose of 30 tons/ha has the potential to provide the best growth and production results compared to other doses. The researcher suggests that further research is needed to take into account environmental factors such as light intensity and soil conditions to better understand the effect of solid organic fertilizer on Bede grass (Brachiaria decumbens) and the use of a dose of solid organic fertilizer of 30 tons/ha can be considered because it shows a tendency for the best results even though it has no significant effect.
