Abstract

This study examines the implementation of inclusive education at Sekolah Alam Bandung in the practice of communication and interpretation of meaning that shapes an adaptive learning environment for neurodivergent students. The theory used in this analysis is symbolic interactionism, which is used to understand the development of awareness and acceptance of student neurodiversity in an inclusive education model. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, non-participatory observation, and literature review involving 12 informants comprising teachers, staff, parents, and neurodivergent students. The research data was then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive analysis model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that consistent symbolic interaction, positive interpretations of neurodivergent behavior, and the collective use of inclusive language collectively reconstruct the social reality of neurodiversity from a deficit to a valued natural variation. This study concludes that the success of inclusion at Sekolah Alam Bandung is rooted in the community's ability to create and maintain shared meanings that support diversity, offering important implications for the development of broader inclusive education models and efforts to address stigma and promote more inclusive policies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the function of the Sahabat Perempuan dan Anak (SAPA) 129 service in addressing violence against women in Aceh. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection involved focus group discussions (FGD) with the Aceh Womens Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DPPA) and in-depth interviews with female victims of violence. The FGDs and interviews were conducted over two weeks, from June 10, 2024, to June 23, 2024. Data analysis was performed using Robert K. Mertons Structural Functional Theory. The results indicate that the SAPA 129 service has not yet functioned optimally in addressing violence against women in Aceh. The identified barriers include low digital literacy, strong patriarchal culture, limited understanding of womens rights, environmental influences, and biased interpretations of religious provisions. According to Mertons theory, the function of this service should be to address social problems and maintain societal stability. However, there is dysfunction due to the stigma and discrimination against female victims of violence, and the services inability to address the root causes of violence related to cultural, normative, and patriarchal social structures.

Abstract

This study examines the closure of the Fish Auction Place (TPI) in Muarareja, which was caused by debt agreements between fishermen and fish traders for boat purchases. The closure of the TPI has led to fishermen losing access to a competitive sales platform and becoming dependent on the traders' markets. The research method used was qualitative with a case study approach, through semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The research participants included 6 skippers or fishermen who own ships, 5 crew members (ABK), 6 collectors or traders, and 3 mothers who make salted fish around the TPI. Data collection was carried out from June 1 to August 28, 2023. The purpose of the study was to analyze changes in the dynamics of patron-client relationships among fishermen in Muarareja and to examine the economic and social impacts of the closure of the TPI. The results showed that the closure of the TPI changed the mechanism of buying and selling fish to be more closed to patrons (traders), which significantly affected the social and economic dynamics of urban fishermen. Based on these findings, it is recommended to examine the effectiveness of alternative programs such as fishermen's cooperatives or micro-loans, and further research is needed on the revitalization of the TPI to improve the overall welfare of fishermen. In the context of public policy, it is also necessary to consider strategies that strengthen the capacity of fishermen in facing increasingly complex global economic challenges. This research is expected to provide significant theoretical and practical contributions to the field of sociology, especially economic sociology.

Abstract

The issue of stunting remains a significant health concern, particularly in East Lombok, which has one of the highest stunting rates in West Nusa Tenggara. This study explores the role of Family Development Session (FDS) activities in preventing and addressing stunting in Lenek Pesiraman Village. FDS, an integral part of the Family Hope Program (PKH), provides structured learning sessions to beneficiary families (KPM) to increase their knowledge and foster behavioral changes related to health, education, and nutrition management. Using Giddens' structuration theory as an analytical tool, this research investigates the interaction between agents (beneficiary families and FDS facilitators) and structures (the PKH program) in implementing FDS activities. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation from 2019 to 2024. The findings indicate that FDS activities have significantly influenced behavioral changes in the community, particularly in improving nutrition awareness, pregnancy care, and environmental health. Additionally, FDS has facilitated a deeper understanding of stunting prevention among beneficiaries and contributed to reducing stunting rates in Lenek Pesiraman Village. The study highlights the importance of collaboration between facilitators and beneficiaries in achieving the program’s objectives and provides insights into enhancing the implementation of FDS activities for better community health outcomes

Abstract

Abstract: This study delves into the intricate dynamics of adolescent juvenile delinquency by examining the Lens of the Differential Association Theory. Focused on the unique context of adolescents at SMAN 21 Bandung, the study employs qualitative research methods to explore the multifaced relationships between differential association Dynamics and juvenile delinquency. Through in-depth analysis, including comprehensive interviews, observations, and literature reviews, the research sheds light on how adolescents learn and internalize deviant behaviours within their deviant subculture. The findings indicate that deviant behaviour develops a learning process where deviance is perceived as something. Additionally, deviant behaviour is the behaviour of fellow perpetrators in deviant subcultures, establishing an environment in which they feel secure engaging in delinquent activities since there is no one to interfere or report them. The existence of negative interactions serves as a trigger for teenagers to engage in delinquency, highlighting the need for increased supervision from parents and teachers. Furthermore, it is necessary to implement tactics to tackle teenage delinquency within educational institutions, aiming to deter their engagement in deviant behaviours.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the stages of women's empowerment in waste management through waste banks analyzed from the concept of empowerment stages. The research uses a qualitative method. The results show that the stages of women's empowerment consisted of: (1) raising awareness about waste problems; (2) providing training and skills on waste processing and the formation and development of Bank Sampah Unit (BSU); and (3) increasing women's participation in running the Bank Sampah Unit (BSU) independently. However, the field findings show that in the capacity stage, women already can develop the organization (BSU). It is concluded that the stages of women's empowerment in waste management through waste banks have made women empowered in managing waste in their households.

Abstract

The land occupation fine policy imposed by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) is formally presented as part of asset regulation and optimization. Yet its implementation has generated significant tension among long-established residents living in informal settlements on PT KAI–owned land. The lack of public participation, procedural transparency, and sensitivity to local socio-economic realities has intensified uncertainty and vulnerability within the community. This study examines the impact of the fine policy on residents of Wadukan Hamlet in Sugihwaras Village, Saradan District, Madiun Regency, using a descriptive qualitative approach supported by literature review and field interviews. Drawing on Antonio Gramsci’s concept of hegemony, the study explores how administrative instruments function as mechanisms of symbolic power and spatial control. The findings show that residents recognize PT KAI’s legal ownership and have long contributed through informal dues; however, the sudden escalation of fines and the marking of homes without adequate socialization have produced economic burdens, psychological distress, and a heightened sense of insecurity. What began as an administrative procedure has evolved into a form of structural marginalization. The study underscores the need for policy reform grounded in social justice, transparent implementation, and meaningful community engagement so that state spatial governance does not operate as a vehicle of exclusion.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of government policies in facilitating the digital transformation of traditional SMEs in Kampung Rendang and Kampung Tenun, Indonesia. It explores how digitalization impacts business sustainability, MSMEs' challenges, and the opportunities enabled through government interventions. Employing a comparative case study approach, this research analyzes SMEs' adoption of e-commerce platforms, digital marketing, and financial technologies. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and policy analysis, focusing on government-led digitalization programs and SME adaptation strategies. The study finds that government initiatives—such as branding programs, digital training, and financial assistance—play a critical role in enabling SMEs to adopt digital tools. However, challenges persist, including low digital literacy, inadequate infrastructure, and regulatory inconsistencies. Despite these obstacles, digital platforms like Tokopedia, Shopee, and social media have facilitated access to broader markets and new business opportunities. This research offers a novel perspective by integrating digital transformation frameworks with social capital theory to understand how government policies shape the digital resilience of heritage-based S,MEs. It contributes fresh insights into the intersection of digitalization, cultural heritage, and SME empowerment in rural settings.
