Abstract

The purpose of this service activity is to increase the knowledge regarding white snapper cultivation using modular technology to the aquaculture farmer group in West Lancang Village, North Aceh District. This service activity used a survey, educative, participatory, and persuasive methods. This community service activity consists of several stages, namely: 1) counseling on white snapper cultivation techniques carried out in a modular manner starting from nursery to harvest 2) counseling on business analysis of white snapper, and 3) training on pond water quality measurement methods. The level of success and satisfaction of service participants was carried out using a questionnaire. Based on the analysis of the level of satisfaction and success, 80-90% of pond farmers are satisfied with this service activity. This service activity provides positive knowledge and motivation for pond farmers. In conclusion, this empowerment activity has a positive impact and increases the knowledge of pond farmers in cultivating white snappers with modular technology.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to increase the knowledge of women in the village of Ulee Pulo, North Aceh Regency, Indonesia about processing techniques of pond cultivation products, namely milkfish onion crackers. This community service activity used a survey method and direct outreach. The survey consisted of determining the location and the group, while the outreach consisted of preparing materials and tools, processing, and organoleptic testing (scoring test). The components of the organoleptic test consisted of taste, odor, shape, color, and savory. Panelists who gave organoleptic test assessments included village apparatus, lecturers, and the community with a total of 25 panelists. Questionnaires were used to see the level of success of the activity. The observation results of the activity, it is known that this activity can improve the knowledge of women in family welfare empowerment group(Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga/PKK)in processing milkfish into onion crackers. Also, the added value of milkfish can increase especially when the harvest is abundant. Organoleptic test results showed that color score 5(Yellow-brown), odor 4,3 (the scent of milkfish), texture 5 (crunchy), salty taste 5 (salty ideal), savory taste 4,6 (tasty).

Abstract

Priacanthus tayenus fish, often referred to as Swanggi, were found during fishing activities in the Cituis area, Banten. This indicates that the potential population of this fish remains substantial and has high economic value. A total of 30 fish were obtained, consisting of 11 female fish and 19 male fish. This study used the purposive sampling method. Analysis of the relationship between the length and weight of Swanggi fish from the waters of Cituis showed a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9305. This figure indicates that the growth of the Swanggi fish is isometric. The length of the Swanggi fish (PB) increases with increasing morphological size. Food availability is thought to influence these correlation results. The availability of food plays a crucial role in the growth process. These correlation results indicate that food availability in the waters is still sufficient to support the life of the Swanggi fish.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Oodev and Turmeric flour on feed to accelerate the rematuration of female broodstock catfish for increasing seed production. Oodev hormone is believed to accelerate the maturation process of broodstock, while turmeric flour with its active ingredients can improve liver performance in the vitellogenesis process. The method was a non-factorial completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments are Control, (A) Oodev 0.3 ml/kg of feed, (B) Turmeric flour 5 gr/kg of feed, and (C) Combination of Oodev + Turmeric flour. The results showed that C treatment was the best treatment which produced a GSI value of 14.57 2.53%, period of rematuration was 32.33 4.16 days, egg diameter was 1.27 0.12 mm, fecundity was 22,939.97 880.38 eggs/kg of broodstock weight, fertilization rate was 80.18 9.75%, hatching rate was 79.80 2.88%, and larval survival reached 83.17 9.69%. Meanwhile, the specific growth of seed length in all treatments had no significant effect between treatments. The results of this study will certainly provide useful information for increasing catfish seed production both in Aceh and on a Nationally. This acceleration of maturation also has a positive impact in maximizing the available broodstock without having to increase the number of catfish broodstock to produce seeds of superior quality and benefit the cultivators. Keywords:EnrichmentFemale BroodstockPerformanceRematurationReproduction

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the efficiency of fish silage mixed in compounded diets on growth and survival rate of grouper (Epinephelus coioides). Grouper (2,340,24 cm, and 4,171,82 g) were divided into four groups and cultivated in 1x1x1,5 m floating net cages. Each group fed with compounded diets containing 0, 1, 3 and 5 g/kg fish silage diet twice daily. Fish were sampled for growth performances and feed efficiency at 14 days interval for 10 weeks. Results indicated that compounded diets at 1 and 3 g/kg silage affected the growth rate. Total length, specific growth rate and weight gain significantly increased in fish received 1 and 3 g/kg silage diets. The feed intake seen to be highest in groups administered 3 g/kg silage, whereas the best feed conversion ratio was found in fish fed 1 g/kg silage. Thus, this study indicated that using fish silage in compounded diets may affect feed efficiency and growth performances of grouper juveniles. Keywords:Artificial dietFeedingFish silageGrouperNet cages

Abstract

The mortality of tinfoil barb during transportation is relatively high due to the oxygen consumption rate and excretion of these fishes. Therefore, the use of an appropriate anesthetic drug becomes one of the solutions for solving this transportation problem of tinfoil barb. One of the natural anesthetic drugs with potential to be studied is Chromolaena odorata leaves. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of anesthetic compounds from Chromolaena odorata leaves in the closed transportation of tinfoil barb. The experimental design used was a non-factorial completely randomized design that consisted of four treatments and three replications, then followed by a Tukey test to see if there was a significant difference. The experimental treatments were A (0 ml/L of leaves filtrate), B (80 ml/L of leaves filtrate), C (90 ml/L of leaves filtrate), and D (100 ml/L of leaves filtrate). The observed parameters were fish behavior towards unconscious condition, onset time, immotilization time, survival rate, and water quality. The results showed that the shortest onset time was obtained from treatment D (100 ml/L leaves filtrate), namely 58 minutes towards unconscious condition, then the longest immotilization time was also shown by treatment D, which was 371 minutes. The highest survival rates were also shown by treatment D which were 94,33% during transportation and 76,33% during culture. The water quality parameters during the experiment were in an optimum condition of tinfoil barb. Keywords:AnestheticChromolaenaodorataTransportationTinfoil barb
