Abstract

Lokan shell Geloina erosa closely related to mangrove ecosystem in Enggano island. Mangrove is one supplier of organic materials required by Lokan shell. The research conducted in September 2015 - January 2016 at mangrove ecosystems in Kahyapu coastal area, aims to analyse lokan shells Geloina erosa conditions and its association with mangrove ecosystems. Sampling of mangrove vegetation was taken using line transect and lokan shell sampling using plot in mangrove ecosystem. The results show that mangrove condition of the Kahyapu coastal area was in healthy condition for the growth of lokan shell. Lokan shell are significantly assosiated with mangrove in Kahyapu coastal area of Enggano Island.

Abstract

Metode Penelitian yang dilakukan adalah dengan metode survei melalui observasi langsung di lapangan dan wawancara masyarakat. Data vegetasi mangrove diambil dari tiap transek menggunakan metode transek kuadrat berukuran 10 m x 10 m (kategori pohon), 5 m x 5 m (kategori anakan) dan 2 m x 2 m (kategori semai). Hasil penelitian ditemukan sebanyak 8 (delapan) spesies mangrove sejati dan 8 (delapan) spesies mangrove asosiasi. Kerapatan tingkat pohon keseluruhan tergolong jarang, sedangkan tingkat anakan dan semai tergolong rapat. Persen penutupan mangrove tergolong tinggi sehingga termasuk dalam kategori baik. Frekuensi jenis tertinggi untuk tingkat pohon, anakan dan semai yaitu Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Rhizopora apiculata dan Xylocarpus granatum. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan ketiga jenis ini hampir dapat ditemukan di setiap petak/plot pengamatan pada setiap stasiun penelitian. Indeks Nilai Penting (INP) Mangrove yang didapatkan tergolong sedang, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa mangrove di Desa Kahyapu memiliki peranan yang cukup penting bagi lingkungan pesisir. Nilai indeks dominansi tergolong rendah dan nilai indeks keanekaragaman yang didapatkan tergolong sedang. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat jenis yang mendominasi jenis lainnya pada ekosistem mangrove di Desa Kahyapu atau komunitas berada dalam kondisi stabil.

Abstract

Pembangunan kawasan permukiman di wilayah pesisir yang semakin meningkat memiliki konsekuensi terhadap penurunan kualitas dan kuantitas lingkungan hidup. Analisis daya dukung dan daya tampung lingkungan hidup perlu dilakukan untuk mendukung pengelolaan pembangunan kawasan permukiman wilayah pesisir yang berkelanjutan. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis daya dukung dan daya tampung lingkungan hidup pada kawasan permukiman pesisir di Kabupaten Tojo Una-Una. Metode penelitian menggunakan analisis spasial melalui sistem informasi geografis (SIG). Analisis daya dukung daya tampung lingkungan hidup berbasis jasa ekosistem menggunakan penjumlahan berbobot (simple additive weigthing) dengan 3 parameter utama yakni ekoregion bentanglahan, komunitas vegetasi alami, serta penggunaan lahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kawasan pesisir di Kabupaten Tojo Una-una memiliki daya dukung dan daya tampung yang cukup bervariasi untuk mendukung kawasan permukiman. Daya dukung dan daya tampung lingkungan hidup melingkupi jasa ekosistem fungsi penyediaan, jasa ekosistem fungsi pengaturan, jasa ekosistem fungsi budaya dan jasa ekosistem pendukung dengan klasifikasi kelas sangat tinggi hingga sangat rendah. Kawasan permukiman pesisir di Kabupaten Tojo Una-Una yang berada pada kelas jasa ekosistem sangat tinggi pada jasa ekosistem tertentu, mengindikasikan bahwa fungsi jasa ekosistem tersebut dapat berpotensi terganggu dan berkurang fungsinya sehingga memerlukan pengelolaan lingkungan dalam mempertahankan daya dukung lingkungannya. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah analisis daya dukung daya tampung lingkungan hidup berbasis jasa ekosistem dapat memberikan basis data baik secara spasial maupun non-spasial dalam mendukung pengelolaan kawasan permukiman pesisir di Kabupaten Tojo Una-Una yang berkelanjutan. Abstract

This research was carried out in September 2022 at Muara Jenggalu, Bengkulu City. The mangrove vegetation in Muara Jenggalu, Bengkulu City consists of 8 (eight) true mangrove species : Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza,Lumnitzera littorea, Rhizophora apiculata, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris and Xylocarpus granatum. Associated mangrove species consist of 3 (three) species, namely Nypa Fruticans, Hibiscus tiliaceus L, and Pandanus tectorius.The most common types of mangroves found in the Jenggalu Estuary, Bengkulu City, are Rhizophora apiculata and Sonneratia alba. The density of mangrove species in Muara Jenggalu, Bengkulu City, is categorized as rare, with a density value of mangrove species ≤ 1,000 ind/ha. Coverage of mangrove species in Muara Jenggalu is 69.59-86.27%. The lowest type of closure is 0.18-49.68%. The type of mangrove with the highest IVI in Muara Jenggalu, namely Sonneratia alba, plays an important role in the mangrove area of Muara Jenggalu with an IVI range of ≥ 121.55-163.28. The dominance index ranged from 0.45-0.78, and the diversity index (H') ranged from 0.34-0.93.

Abstract

Coral reef conservation can be conducted by creating artificial coral reefs as was done on Karya Island. Monitoring and evaluation afterwards is needed. This study aims to determine the benthic community structure in the concrete module area, Karya Island artificial reef after 15 years of coral transplantation. Data collection was carried out using the photo transect method on line transects (50 m) in 3 stations. The transect images taken were then processed using CPCe. The condition of the coral reefs at the study site was in the bad category with a percentage of live hard coral cover of 13.39 ± 4.62%. The highest to lowest percent cover respectively were DCA (51.67 ± 6.60%), SP (15.50 ± 7.93%), FS (14.72 ± 5.98%), HC ( 13.39 ± 4.62%), SC (4.05 ± 2.76%), and OT (0.67 ± 0.35%). Benthic community diversity in St. 1 (H'=1.59) and St. 3 (H'=1.52) is moderate, while St.2 has low diversity (H'=0.84). The benthic community at St.1 and St.3 is classified as stable with a uniformity value of 0.72 and 0.78 respectively. However, St.2 has an unstable community (E=0.40). Dominance appears in St. 2 (C=0.66) due to high abundance of Padina sp. is much higher than other species.

Abstract

Desa Banjarsari terletak di Pulau Enggano, salah satu pulau terluar pesisir barat Indonesia yang berada di Samudera Hindia. Posisi Pulau Enggano yang berada di Samudera Hindia mempengaruhi dinamika habitat pesisir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik habitat bentik pesisir Desa Banjarsari, Kabupaten Bengkulu Utara. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survei di Bulan Agustus 2022. Identifikasi awal habitat bentik pada citra Planetscope komposit true colour dilakukan untuk menentukan transek sampel. Sampel habitat bentik dikoleksi menggunakan metode foto transek berdasarkan transek sampel pada citra. Habitat bentik perairan dangkal di Desa Banjarsari terdiri dari padang lamun, makroalga, terumbu karang dan substrat. Padang lamun yang ditemukan antara lain jenis Halodule uninervis, Cimodocea rotundata, Thalassia hempricii. Terumbu karang di perairan dangkal ditemukan jenis karang bercabang. Substrat perairan dangkal berupa pasir bercampur rubble (pecahan karang). Karakteristik habitat bentik perairan dangkal didominasi oleh kelompok substrat dan padang lamun.

Abstract

Mangroves, as one of the vegetation types that is a natural stronghold from coastal disasters, also function as a shelter and find food for various biota in coastal ecosystems. Therefore, protecting the mangrove ecosystem from degradation is very important. One effort that needs is ecosystem rehabilitation through mangrove planting in coastal environments. To support it, a design was devised using drones and remote-sensing vehicles to assist in making mangrove planting designs. This research was conducted in Jenggalu Estuary, Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City. This research aims to study the use of drones in mapping potential mangrove planting areas and designing a mangrove planting plan to rehabilitate coastal ecosystems. In mapping using drones, the height used was 80 meters with 80% overlap, and 2.87 hectares of potential mangrove planting area was obtained. Based on the research results, drones in mapping are very useful in calculating the area of potential mangrove planting areas and designing effective planting plans. There are four scenarios for planting mangroves with a spacing of 0.5 m, 1 m, 2 m, and 3 m, respectively. For a planting area of 2.87 ha, the number of seeds needed is 114,800 planting points for a distance of 0.5 m, 28,700 planting points for a distance of 1 m, 7,175 planting points for a distance of 2 m, and 3,189 planting points for a distance of 3 m

Abstract

Shark fishing activity is an economically important activity because sharks are the target fish for export purposes. Sharks are consumed by their fins dan flesh. The relatively high demand demand for shark exports with low reproduction characteristics makes sharks more vulnerable to population threats. In managing sharks fishery, biological aspect are supporting things as a reference for management actions. The study aims to describe the fishing characteristic of shark (Rhizoprionodon taylori), length to weight relationship, length distribution, and sex ratio. Sharks are more susceptible to population risks because of the relatively high demand for shark exports and their lack of reporting characteristics. Biology plays a supportive role in shark management by serving as a point of reference for management efforts. This study attempts to describe the length-to-weight relationship, length distribution, and sex ratio of the shark (Rhizoprionodon taylori) as they relate to fishing. The collection and capture of biological data took place between February and August of 2022. TPI Dermaga Barat Pelabuhan Perikanan Samedera Nizam Zachman (PPSNZ), Muara Baru, North Jakarta, is where the fish used for the fish samples were landed. Biology fish samples data were weighed,fork length and  sex. At sizes ranging from 38.6 cm to 43 cm and a negative allometric development trend, the long shark (Rhizopodon taylori) predominates. 94% of the sampled fish were female, showing that female fish predominate in the catch. It will decrease fish stocks that can reproduce, which will result in lower recruitment in the waters, if the capture is consistently dominated by female fish. Abstract

Desa Sumber Agung, yang terletak di Kecamatan Arma Jaya, Kabupaten Bengkulu Utara, Provinsi Bengkulu, merupakan wilayah dengan potensi sumber daya alam yang kaya, di mana mayoritas penduduknya adalah petani. UMKM Sutera 97, yang beroperasi di desa ini, memanfaatkan kekayaan alam lokal untuk memproduksi berbagai produk makanan dan minuman, termasuk keripik dan minuman herbal. Saat ini, produk-produk UMKM Sutera 97 dipasarkan dengan kemasan ziplock bertuliskan stiker sederhana, yang dinilai belum optimal dalam menarik minat konsumen dan membedakan produk dari pesaing. Optimalisasi desain kemasan diperlukan untuk meningkatkan daya tarik produk. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain kemasan yang baik dapat memperbaiki citra produk dan meningkatkan nilai di mata konsumen (Ari Widiati, 2019). Desain visual kemasan yang menarik juga berperan penting dalam menciptakan persepsi positif terhadap kualitas produk dan mempengaruhi keputusan pembelian (Hasanah & Setiyo Pambudi, 2023; Sosianika et al., 2022). Dengan mengadopsi desain kemasan yang lebih berkualitas dan khas, UMKM Sutera 97 berpotensi meningkatkan daya saing dan volume penjualannya di pasar lokal maupun nasional. Sumber Agung Village, located in Arma Jaya Subdistrict, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province, is a region with rich natural resources, where the majority of the population are farmers. The Sutera 97 MSME, operating in this village, leverages local natural wealth to produce a variety of food and beverage products, including chips and herbal drinks. Currently, Sutera 97 MSME products are marketed in ziplock packaging with simple stickers, which are considered less than optimal in attracting consumer interest and differentiating the products from competitors. Optimizing packaging design is necessary to enhance product appeal. Research indicates that good packaging design can improve product image and increase value in the eyes of consumers (Ari Widiati, 2019). Attractive visual packaging design also plays a crucial role in creating positive perceptions of product quality and influencing purchasing decisions (Hasanah & Setiyo Pambudi, 2023; Sosianika et al., 2022). By adopting a higher-quality and more distinctive packaging design, Sutera 97 MSME has the potential to increase its competitiveness and sales volume in both local and national markets.

Abstract

Analisis multivariat seperti cluster dan nMDS sering digunakan untuk membantu interpretasi data lingkungan, sedangkan struktur komunitas vegetasi tumbuhan sangat berguna dalam mendeskripsikan ekologi suatu ekosistem, sehingga kajian penilaian analisis cluster dan nMDS terhadap struktur komunitas mangrove Desa Bagan Serdang dilakukan pada bulan September 2021. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur komunitas mangrovenya berdasarkan analisis cluster dan nMDS. Vegetasi mangrove dikumpulkan dengan menarik transek kuadran yang tegak lurus garis pantai, kemudian data vegetasi mangrove dievaluasi menggunakan cluster dan nMDS. Keanekaragaman mangrove Desa Bagan Serdang teridentifikasi sebanyak 5 spesies dengan 4 famili, dimana penyebaran mangrovnya tergolong sesekali ditemukan (rata-rata frekuensi relatifnya 20,00%). Zona paling depan didominasi oleh Avicennia lanata, zona tengah didominasi oleh Rhizophora apiculata dan zona belakang didominansi oleh Rhizophora mucronata. Kerapatan mangrovenya berkisar antara 22,22 – 1222,22 ind/ha dan INP berkisar antara 9,64 – 231,78% dengan kerapatan vegetasi zona depan maupun tengah membentuk satu kelompok yang mengindikasikan kondisi kerapatannya hampir sama. Selanjutnya untuk INP, vegetasi zona depan dan tengah membentuk satu kelompok dengan spesies yang berperan penting adalah A. lanata serta R. apiculata, sedangkan di zona belakang, spesies yang berperan pentingnya adalah R. mucronata, E. agallocha dan X. granatum. Selain itu, basal area vegetasi mangrove Desa Bagan Serdang berkisar antara 278,22 – 654,35 m2/ha dengan basal area vegetasi zona depan maupun belakang memiliki tingkat kedewasaan yang hampir sama, sehingga membentuk satu kelompok. Kajian ini mengungkapkan adanya komposisi spesies mangrove campuran dengan perkembangan kedewasaan mangrovenya berbeda-beda. Data yang diinfokan dalam kajian ini akan menjadi baseline pengelolaan mangrove di Desa Bagan Serdang dan upaya konservasi di Provinsi Sumatera Utara maupun Indonesia.  Multivariate analyses such as clusters and nMDS are frequently used to facilitate in the interpretation of environmental data. In contrast, the community structure of plant vegetation is immensely useful in describing the ecology of an ecosystem. In September 2021, studies on the mangrove community structure of Bagan Serdang Village were conducted using cluster analysis and nMDS. It proposes to use cluster analysis and nMDS to determine the structure of the mangrove community. Mangrove vegetation was collected by pulling quadrant transects perpendicular to the shoreline, and the data was analyzed using clusters and nMDS. The diversity of mangroves in Bagan Serdang Village was identified as 5 species with 4 families, with mangrove distribution classified as occasional (average relative frequency of 20,00%). Avicennia lanata dominates the front zone, Rhizophora apiculata dominates the middle zone, and R. mucronata dominates the back zone. The mangrove density ranges from 22,22 to 1222,22 ind/ha, and the INP ranges from 9,64 to 231,78%, with the vegetation density in the front and middle zones forming one group that shows nearly the same density conditions. Furthermore, for the INP, the front and middle zone vegetation formed a group with species that played an important role which were A. lanata and R. apiculata, while species that played an important role in the rear zone were R. mucronata, E. agallocha, and X. granatum. Furthermore, the basal area of the mangrove vegetation in Bagan Serdang Village ranges from 278,22 to 654,35 m2/ha, with the basal area of the vegetation zones front and back having nearly the same maturity level, forming a single group. This study reveals the presence of a mixed mangrove species composition with different mangrove maturity developments. The data presented in this study will be the baseline for mangrove management in Bagan Serdang Village and conservation efforts in North Sumatra Province and Indonesia.
