Abstract

The research was conducted with the aim of finding out the implementation of Maghrib Koran recitation in Kwala Mencirim village. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative using interview, documentation and observation techniques. This activity is one of the activities designed by Mathematics-2 Education students and students with the aim of increasing the religious beliefs of children in Kwala village to characterize and revive the children's enthusiasm for reciting the Koran after Maghrib. Because this activity has almost never been carried out at the Ainul Yaqin mosque (Kwala Mencirim Emplasm).

Abstract

Since the time of Prophet Muhammad saw. mosques have served multiple functions beyond worship, acting as centers of learning, social interaction, and community empowerment. In the modern era, however, their roles are often reduced to ritual activities alone. This study seeks to reframe the function of mosques in accordance with contemporary needs, taking Baiturrahim Mosque in Nogorejo Village, Galang District, Deli Serdang, as a case study. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach through observation and interviews, the research reveals that while Baiturrahim Mosque contributes significantly to the spiritual and social life of the community, its broader role remains limited. Key challenges include fostering children’s moral development and maintaining cleanliness within the mosque environment. The findings highlight the necessity of professional mosque management, child-friendly programs, and greater community involvement to revitalize its educational, social, and religious roles. By adopting an inclusive and adaptive reconstruction, mosques can once again function as transformative centers for both spiritual growth and social development in contemporary society.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an iSpring-based PowerPoint that is valid, practical, and effective in improving the mathematical problem-solving abilities of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Medan during the 2025/2026 academic year. The research employs the Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects consisted of 26 students from class VII-T1 at SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Medan. The validation results indicate a high validity index with scores of 77.5% from the material expert, 90% from the media expert, and 95% from the language expert, resulting in an average validation score of 85.03%, which falls under the “Highly Valid” category. The teacher’s response to the PowerPoint was 98.07%, while the students’ response was 89%, with an average score of 93.535%, categorized as “Highly Practical.” The effectiveness of the media is demonstrated by a classical learning mastery level of 87.5%, which is categorized as “Highly Effective.” The average N-gain score was 0.64, indicating a moderate category. Therefore, the iSpring-based PowerPoint developed in this study can serve as an innovative and effective alternative learning medium to enhance students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with a STEM approach on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in SPLDV material. This study used a quasi-experimental approach with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects were eighth-grade students at MTs Swasta Lab IKIP Al-Wasliyah Medan, divided into two classes: an experimental class and a control class, each consisting of 26 students. The experimental class was taught using the PBL model with a STEM approach, while the control class used a conventional learning model. The instrument used was a mathematical problem-solving ability test. The results showed that the average posttest score for the experimental class was 73.08, while the control class was 59.62. The results of the Independent Sample t-Test show that the value of ????ℎ???????????????????? = 3.341 is greater than ???????????????????????? = 2.009 with a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05, so that H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the application of the Problem Based Learning model with the STEM approach on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan GeoGebra terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Medang Deras. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis kuasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 96 siswa, dengan sampel sebanyak 64 siswa yang terdiri dari 32 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 32 siswa kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes uraian (pretest dan posttest) serta lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL berbantuan GeoGebra berada pada kategori baik dengan persentase 81,7%. Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol, dengan nilai rata-rata N-Gain masing-masing sebesar 0,515 dan 0,309. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai t_hitung > t_tabel (3,9737 > 2,0000), sehingga terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penerapan model PBL berbantuan GeoGebra terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran PBL berbantuan GeoGebra efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. ABSTRACT This study aimed to analyze the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by GeoGebra on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Medang Deras. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The population consisted of 96 students, with a sample of 64 students divided into an experimental class (32 students) and a control class (32 students). The instruments used were essay tests (pretest and posttest) and an observation sheet. The results showed that the implementation of the PBL model assisted by GeoGebra was categorized as good, with a percentage of 81.7%. The improvement in students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities in the experimental class was higher than in the control class, with average N-Gain scores of 0.515 and 0.309, respectively. The hypothesis test indicated that t_count > t_table (3.9737 > 2.0000), demonstrating a significant effect of the PBL model assisted by GeoGebra on students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. In conclusion, the implementation of the PBL model assisted by GeoGebra is effective in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect and improvement of students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model on integer material. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving two groups, namely an experimental class receiving Discovery Learning and a control class receiving conventional instruction. Data were collected through problem-solving tests administered before and after the treatment. The data analysis focused on identifying differences in abilities and the level of improvement between the two groups. The results indicate that the Discovery Learning model has a significant effect on students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities compared to conventional learning. Furthermore, the improvement in the experimental class is categorized at a higher level than that of the control class. These findings suggest that Discovery Learning is effective in enhancing students’ problem-solving abilities and can be used as an alternative instructional model to promote active learning and deeper conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been developing at a fast pace and is increasingly embedded in everyday human activities. In the realm of education AI serves as a transformative force, reshaping both teaching practices and learning processes. A key contribution of AI in this context lies in its capacity to deliver individualized and adaptive learning experiences. This study aims to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based English learning assessment system in the English Education program at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra, Medan. The study also seeks to measure the extent to which the AI-based assessment curriculum has effectively achieved the program's vision, mission, objectives, and graduate profile. A qualitative case study within purposive sampling approach was employed to select participants who had relevant experience and knowledge in English teaching and learning. The data collection methods included Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) with 20 lecturers and 100 students, as well as in-depth interviews with lecturers. The data from questionnaire were analyzed to identify patterns, trends, and differences in the responses of the respondents. The findings of this study indicate that the use of AI in assessing English proficiency among students has proven to be effective and efficient, not only in individual assessment but also in supporting the evaluation of academic program curricula. However, the findings also highlight the need for adequate technological readiness and training for both lecturer and student to optimize AI utilization.
