Abstract

School-age children are one of the at risk groups for fat-soluble vitamin deficiencies. The consequence that could be experienced is the unoptimal growth of bones and teeth. In addition, it can affect the child's growth and development. One of the things that can cause this condition is a child's lack of knowledge about fat-soluble vitamins. The efforts that can be made to increase knowledge about fat-soluble vitamins is by using interactive media such as Lift The Flap Book as a learning medium. The purpose of this research was to the measure the influence of Lift The Flap Book on the knowledge and attitudes of school-age children about the importance of fat-soluble vitamins in food. This research was a quasi-experimental study with a sample of 33 children aged 10-12 years with a one group pre-test and post-test design. The results of this study are the average knowledge score of fat-soluble vitamins with media interventions Lift The Flap Book during the pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test 2 was 62.00; 81.99; and 78.14. Then, the attitude of fat-soluble vitamins was 64.83; 77.4; and 76.95. This result showed that the Lift The Flap Book media can increase the knowledge and attitudes about fat-soluble vitamins (p=0.000) among school-age children 10-12 years.

Abstract

Background: Hydration results from body fluids balance, while dehydration results from body fluids imbalance. Dehydration can result from losing too much water, not drinking enough or both of these things. There are certain job who has  special needs for fluids especially who works in hot environments. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge, fluid intake and nutritional status with hydration status in expedition couriers. Methods: A cross-sectional design with 44 expedition couriers as the research subject. Knowledge of fluids were obtained using a questionnaire, fluid intake were obtained by interview using repeated 24-h food recall, nutritional status were obtained by using BMI and the hydration status were obtained by urine specific gravity using urinalysis reagent strips. The data was processed and analyzed using Pearson correlation test. Results: Most of the respondents had sufficient knowledge (59.1%). The average fluid intake of the respondents were 2562 mL. Most of the respondents had normal nutritional status (45.4%). Almost half of respondents has pre-dehydration (45.5%). There  were arelationship between knowledge of fluids and hydration status (p=0,0001, r=-0,514), also between fluid intake and hydration status (p=0,0001, r=-0,685). There is no relationship between nutritional status and hydration status (p=0,337, r=0,148).Conclusion: Fluid intake and hydration status on expedition couriers are still not as expected, even though expedition couriers have sufficient knowledge.

Background: The growth and development experienced by school-age children need to be supported by optimal nutritional intake, which can be obtained from vegetables and fruit. In order for these conditions to be achieved, it is necessary to provide interesting nutrition education so that children can understand well. In addition, it will form good nutritional behavior as well. Objective: To determine the effect of Nutrition-Run Game media on children's knowledge and attitudes towards the importance of consuming vegetables and fruits. Methods: This research design is Quasi-Experimental with One Group Pretest and Posttest Design. The research subjects were 37 children aged 9-12 years in the Sitanala Multipurpose Complex RT.004. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The number of questionnaires used for knowledge is 13 questions, and attitudes are 14 questions Subjects were given a pre-test questionnaire and then given an intervention using the Nutrition-Run Game media. After that, the subject was given a post-test 1 questionnaire. Then, seven days later, the subject was again given the same questionnaire (post-test 2). Analysis of the data used is the Paired Sample T-Test.Results: The results showed that most of the subjects had a low level of knowledge (81,1%), and there were still subjects who had poor attitudes (24,3%). After being given education, there was an increase in scores for both variables. The bivariate analysis results showed a significant difference between knowledge and attitude scores before and after giving intervention media regarding the importance of consuming vegetables and fruit (p≤0,05).Conclusion: There is an effect of using the Nutrition-Run Game media on children's knowledge and attitudes regarding vegetable and fruit consumption.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit various parts of the world, including Indonesia, has had an impact on society. One of the layers of society that has experienced this impact is students. With the large-scale social restrictions, Indonesian students do a lot of activities at home. Many students become concerned with themselves, but there are also students who feel bored because of low social interaction which in turn causes high food consumption and sedentary behaviour at home. The objective of this study to determine changes in body weight, food consumption and lifestyle in Indonesian students. The design of this study was cross sectional, with descriptive analysis conducted on 1185 students in Indonesia. The results of the study stated that the pandemic had an impact on Indonesian students. During the pandemic as many as 67.1% of students experienced changes in the size of their BB. Most of the students experienced moderate stress (77.1%), and bad sedentary behaviour by 63.4%. However, diet and exercise habits have changed for the better as much as 52.6% and 63.7%, respectively. Indonesian students need to pay more attention to changes in body weight and lifestyle during the pandemic so as not to have a negative impact on health and nutritional status.

Abstract

Background: One of the community groups affected by the Covid-19 pandemic is college students. The pandemic has changed the learning system that requires college students to study from home. In addition, it changes college student life habits, including physical activity, diet, body composition, stress, changes in body weight, and others. Objective: Aim to model the impact of the pandemic on weight changes in college students in Indonesia. Method: this study was conducted on 1185 college students for 35 days with a cross-sectional design. The research design used a cross-sectional study design. Analysis of the data used is SEM with LISREL. Result: The results showed a causal relationship between the latent variables of significant lifestyle factors on consumption factors and important consumption factors on changes in body weight in a positive direction. Structural model of the determinants of weight change = 0.05 consumption + 1.03 lifestyle. Conclusion: Lifestyle and consumption factors affect changes in body weight during the Covid 19 Pandemic in college students. Recommendation: There needs to be more attention to public health after the Covid-19 Pandemic hit, especially regarding consumption patterns and stress. People must be able to adjust to new normal conditions so as not to vent their stress by consuming lots of snacks or foods high in fat and sugar

Abstract

Excessive consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs), which are typically high in fat content, and insufficient physical activity may adversely influence adolescents’ nutritional status and lead to abdominal obesity. This condition can occur due to individual’s lack of knowledge and eating preferences, which in turn influence adolescents’ consumption behavior. This research aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge, eating preferences, UPF consumption behavior, and nutritional status among students at Citra Kasih Junior High School, Tangerang. This research was cross-sectional with a sample of 102 students carried out in January 2024. The inclusion criteria were students who were physically healthy, willing to participate, not on a specific diet, and not taking diuretic drugs. Data were analyzed using Pearson and Spearman correlation tests. The results showed most respondents had normal nutritional status (58.8%) and low levels of knowledge about UPFs (53.9%). No significant correlations were found between knowledge, UPF eating preferences, and BMI-for-age, nor between knowledge, UPF eating preferences, UPF consumption behavior, and WHR (p > 0.05). However, a significant correlation was observed between UPF consumption behavior and BMI-for-age (p < 0.05). In conclusion, UPF consumption behavior was significantly correlated with adolescents’ nutritional status based on BMI-for-age.

Data analysis using the Chi-Square test. Results: The majority of participants experienced psychosocial stress (61.8%), food preferences low in sugar, salt, and fat (63.6%), and most of them were in the high screen time category (52.7%). The results showed that there was no relationship between psychosocial stress and food preferences with nutritional status (p > 0.05), but there was a relationship between screen time and nutritional status (p = 0.011).Conclusion: In this study, food preferences and psychosocial stress were not factors that affected the nutritional status.
