Abstract

Background: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a prevalent and debilitating complication of diabetes mellitus that significantly impacts quality of life and increases morbidity. Indonesia faces a rapidly growing diabetes burden; however, national-level estimates of DPN prevalence remain limited. Understanding the epidemiological patterns of DPN is critical to guide screening strategies, clinical management, and region-specific health interventions. Purpose: This study estimated, on a national basis, the prevalence of DPN among diabetic patients in Indonesia during the period 2010 to 2024. Methods: A meta-analysis was conducted using data sources and a comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL Plus, and Google Scholar for relevant articles up to January 2025. A generalized mixed model was employed to analyze the pooled prevalence under the assumption of random effects. The risk of bias was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS), and Heterogeneity was assessed through I² statistics and Cochran's Q tests. Results: The sample comprised 46 studies with 2808 participants. The prevalence of DPN was 76.65% (95% CI 64.82-85.40) based on the Random Effects Model. High prevalence was found in patients aged 40-60 with type 2 diabetes in institutional settings and moderate diabetes duration. Conclusion: The preponderance of DPN in Indonesia is tremendously high and differs across regions and demographics. Early detection and resources in situ are important for proper management. Abstract

Background: Chronic wounds are a persistent and costly health issue globally, with particularly high burdens in low- and middle-income countries. Despite increasing awareness, comprehensive regional estimates of chronic wound prevalence across Asia remain limited and inconsistent. Purpose: This study aimed to estimate the pooled prevalence of chronic wounds in Asian populations and identify key moderators associated with their distribution and burden, including comorbidities, wound types, and geographic or healthcare-related factors. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted according to PRISMA guidelines. Searches of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science identified 46 eligible observational studies published through 2024. Random-effects models were used to estimate pooled prevalence. Subgroup and meta-regression analyses explored the influence of demographic, clinical, and geographic moderators. Risk of bias was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). Results: A total of 46 studies comprising 6,425 chronic wound cases were included in the analysis. The pooled prevalence of chronic wounds was 32.1% (95% CI: 25.9–39.1), with substantial heterogeneity (I² = 98.8%). Diabetic foot ulcers were the most common wound type. Prevalence was significantly higher in developing countries (34.8%), in Southeast Asia (50.8%), and in hospital-based settings (32.6%). Smoking (β = 0.049; p = 0.019) and malnutrition (β = 0.047; p < 0.001)  were significantly associated with increased prevalence, while serum albumin was inversely associated (β = –4.308; p < 0.001). Conclusions: Chronic wounds are highly prevalent across Asian populations, particularly in resource-limited settings. Socioeconomic context, nutritional deficiencies, and modifiable lifestyle factors contribute substantially to this burden. These findings support the need for standardized wound surveillance, targeted prevention strategies, and improved nutritional and behavioral interventions, especially in developing health systems. Future studies should adopt prospective designs and harmonized definitions to strengthen regional and global wound epidemiology.

Abstract

Parking in dense urban areas is a big challenge because the increase in the number of vehicles causes a shortage of parking spaces, congestion and air pollution. As the number of vehicles increases, parking space is needed to accommodate many vehicles. Limited land often results in illegal parking which has a negative impact resulting in traffic jams. Rotary parking is one solution to maximize the use of limited parking space more efficiently. To move rotary parking, a DC motor is needed. In this rotary parking design, which has a capacity of 20 kg, a DC shunt wiper motor with a power capacity of 10-50 watts, 12VDC, and a current of 1-4 Ampere was chosen. This system is equipped with RFID technology to ensure safe vehicle access. The test was carried out eight times with gradual loads ranging from 16.5 kg to 20 kg. The results show that the tool can work well at each stage, with output power ranging from 14.46 watts at a load of 16.5 kg to 12.76 watts at a load of 20 kg. In conclusion, this rotary parking system can work as expected, efficiently handling the carload and a total load of 20 kg, as well as providing additional security using RFID and easy monitoring via IoT.

Abstract

Abstract

Patients undergoing cesarean sections (CS) under spinal anesthesia often experience pain, anxiety, and peripheral vasoconstriction. This study, a randomized, blinded, controlled trial, compared progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) and autogenic training (AOT) with standard treatment to alleviate the aforementioned symptoms. Sixty-six female patients who underwent CS aged 20-35 were randomized into three groups: PMR (n=22), AOT (n=24), or standard (n=20). Pain and anxiety were evaluated using standardized instruments: Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HARS) and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Both groups indicated a statistically significant decrease in pain and anxiety as compared to the control group (p = 0.001). Both the PMR (Mean difference; pain, 2.54) and anxiety (17.37) improved significantly more than the AOT (pain, 1.23; anxiety, 11.68) group, while the control group minimally improved (pain, 0.32; anxiety, 2.27) over their pre-intervention scores. Statistical tests, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis, showed statistically significant differences between the three groups, p <0.034; p <0.001, 95% CI. Thus, the PMR is more effective than AOT or standard care. Therefore, PMR should be included in the postoperative care of nurse anesthetists in their pragmatic collaborative effort to support non-pharmacological symptom self-management in cesarean patients.
