Abstract

Color is one of design elements which plays a significant role and influences people’s daily cultural and personal experiences. It is a subject that should be studied from multidisciplinary perspectives; not only art and design perspective, but also chemistry, physics, psychological, sociological and cultural perspectives. Color: The Professional’s Guide is a book dedicated to discussing different color topics by providing strong foundation in a holistic approach. Author is a designer and educator in color design and visual merchandising at Rhode Island School of Design Certificate Programs. She has written for many design magazine and newspaper on color and design topic. The book contains 19 chapters and organized into six parts. Color: The Professional’s Guide is, therefore, a complete guide to understand, appreciate and master color in art and design.

Abstract

Rumah sakit merupakan kawasan kompleks yang sering terjadi kepanikan. Sebagai rujukan nasional, RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin belum memiliki signage yang dapat mengurangi kepanikan terutama dalam mencari ruangan, sebab informasi yang ditampilkan terlalu banyak dan belum memiliki kesatuan satu sama lain sehingga belum efektif. Untuk menambah efektivitas dalam mencari ruangan, fitur navigasi ditambah pada aplikasi RSHS Mobile yang telah dimiliki RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin. Tulisan ini merupakan suatu kasus studi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi pustaka, observasi, kuesioner dan wawancara. Adapun analisis data dengan menggunakan matriks perbandingan, analisis konten serta tabulasi silang untuk hasil kuesioner. Perancangan signage dan tampilan antarmuka fitur navigasi dibuat dengan menggunakan kalimat yang padat, jelas dan ditambah piktogram. Konsep perancangan mengambil tema sederhana, bersih, dan  mengacu pada  identitas visual logo yang dimiliki RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin berupa transformasi bentuk plus/ tambah. Diharapkan perancangan ini dapat memudahkan pengunjung untuk lebih cepat menemukan ruangan di RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin dengan bantuan signage yang terintegrasi dengan fitur navigasi pada aplikasi smartphone yang informatif, efektif dan menarik.Kata Kunci: aplikasi, navigasi, petunjuk arah, rumah sakit, signage

Abstract

Home industry food packaging displayed on shelves in stores will compete with products from other brands that are placed close together. In order to attract consumers’ attention and assist them in the purchasing decision-making process, packaging that has a competitive advantage is needed. This research is limited to the Primary Display Panel (PDP) packaging of home industry banana chips. In previous studies, the research used was quantitative, but this does not reveal the whole story. The data recording process can support “what” the participant looks at but does not reveal “why” they look at it. For this reason, this research is aimed to establish a broader understanding of what participants perceive of the packaging design seen using eye tracking methods and why it happened. This study uses qualitative approach. The study consists of three phases: literature study, eye tracking data recording, and data processing and interviews analyzed using content analysis. The result is colors and images are perceived to be the same by teenagers and young adults. There is no connection between likes and dislikes for colors/images with colors preference in choosing snack products. The results can be used by producers and packaging designers to create packages that generate consumer purchase interest.

Abstract

Hospitalization has a psychological impact on pediatric patients. A hospital is a complex environment, so wayfinding information needs to be provided by environmental graphics inside the building. It is necessary to design informative, communicative and educative environmental graphic design media that use color coding to support child development. The research problem was to create an environmental graphic design (EGD) for a children's hospital that is communicative, attractive and educative and to investigate the role of color coding in the design. A case study was conducted at Hermina Hospital Depok, which consisted of literature study, observation, interviews and questionnaires. Color coding was used as a strategy to differentiate areas and to provide an understanding of the layout of the hospital complex. The purpose of this study was to design an effective EGD for a hospital as a means of information and communication to the visitors, especially children. Another aim was to apply color coding to a complex area.

Abstract

Walau letaknya strategis, namun Kabupaten Tasikmalaya merupakan kabupaten yang paling sedikit dikunjungi dibandingkan seluruh kabupaten yang ada di Jawa Barat. Tempat perlu dibedakan melalui identitas brand yang unik. Untuk itu diperlukan suatu destination branding melalui video karena dapat mempengaruhi emosi yang kuat. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, kuesioner dan studi pustaka. Selanjutnya data dianalisis dengan membandingkan video-video pariwisata. Pembuatan video menggunakan Emotional Approach. Daya tarik emosional yang ditampilkan yaitu sesuai dengan kebutuhan target audiens yaitu wisatawan. Dipilihnya video sebagai salah satu upaya destination branding karena audiovisual akan menampilkan keadaan yang sebenarnya yang sulit dijelaskan dengan media lain. Kata kunci: destination branding, promosi, video

Abstract

The power of visual and audio messages on television commercial (TVC) is critical to create the advertised brand awareness. The use of popular songs as an advertisement attraction is often used in television commercials. This paper is a case study of Mizone TVC in 2012. The popular song should be able to help the visual appeal used in helping audiences remember brands and advertisements. This study aims to determine the role and impact of visual appeal on TVC that use popular song as the appeal of music to brand reminders. The method used in this study is based on marketing approach and advertisement evaluation research through advertising stimulus recall test method. The first stage is an audio stimulus test by playing a popular song from the case study. The second stage is a visual stimulus test by showing some advertising frames as a visual stimulus. The third stage is to show the ads as a whole to know the response about the attractiveness of the ad to brand recall. This method is tested on the respondent which is the target audiences of Mizone. The analysis of the visual stimulus visual recall shows the use of visual appeal not only from TVC talents but also through advertising messages packaged with unique, distinct visual approaches and identity that can help audiences to better remember the brand.

Abstract

Setu Babakan Betawi Culture Village is one of the tourist attractions in the capital area. Locating in the middle of the capital, this tourist attraction can be used as a place for relaxation. Problems begin as it is currently happening in wayfinding and a sign system that does not get the attention of the management, which is less informative and inappropriate placement. The thing to concern is by creating a website that provides various information and directions for tourist objects and existing facilities. Data collection is done through interviews, questionnaires, and observations to find out more about the object of research. The process of analysis is done by comparing similar objects. This study produces a sign system that integrates a website using the QR Code as an information media in the Setu Babakan Betawi Village area. It is expected to help informing the location and facilities there for visitors.

Abstract

The Heritage Palace is located in Surakarta City of Central Java which formerly was the sugar factory that is currently used as a tourist attraction. However, this place has the problem of lacking its informative and interactive signage, less by the branding of the tourist spots, and less proper in material selection. The data collection used were the literature study, observation, interviews and questionnaires, using comparison matrix as data analysis method. The concept of the design takes the modern and old heritage concept using a font that matches the clear language and adds pictogram. The purpose of this design is to provide informative and interactive information using signage ang interactive media that is useful to help visitors get information when they visit the tourist site

Abstract

Indonesia has a great and priceless culinary potential of the archipelago. The culinary industry sector in Indonesia currently has a vast and increasing market, because this culinary sector is quite promising because it has economic value but still has advantages. Talamak Bowl is a small and medium enterprise (SME) in Bandung that is engaged in culinary specialties of West Sumatra. This business is still not well known by the public and there has been no increase in sales. Seeing the increasing number of culinary industry SMEs in the city of Bandung, it is necessary to have strong and effective promotional activities in offering products to many audiences in order to be superior than the others. Overcoming the problems above, then the design of promotional media is carried out by using data collection methods through observation, interviews, questionnaires and literature and the analytical method used is a comparison matrix to form the design concept. After getting conclusions from the method, the promotional media that created are applied to the name card, ambient media, brochures, e-posters and other supporting media. This design was made by combining two concept which is illustration and product photography. This design is expected that the problems faced will be resolved

Abstract

Sign system applied to the nature tourism object of Situ Gunung is still lacked in its placement, with conditions that are weathered, not maintained, not unity, and a less informative gate. In terms of design, the existing sign system in Situ Gunung nature tourism object is less in accordance with the theory of proper sign system.  Therefore, the authors are interested to redesign the sign system in Situ Gunung natural tourism object in Sukabumi Regency as an effort to build the image of the place by showing the identity of the place in the natural tourism object. The study used a qualitative approach by conducting various data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and literature review.  The concept of the design is to bring out the tree of resin and fauna of the monkey Lutung as a characteristic element of the place of this natural tourism object.  The design of this signage is willing to make visitors easy to get information about the location and other information about the area of the tourist attraction
