Abstract

Mastery of vocabulary (lexicon) is a fundamental aspect of learning the Arabic language, as it plays an important role in the development of language skills. However, conventional vocabulary learning still faces challenges in terms of effectiveness and student engagement. This study aims to analyze the effect of using Google Form media on improving the vocabulary learning outcomes of eleventh-grade students at MA Al-Irfan Nusantara. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The sample was selected using purposive sampling techniques, consisting of 18 students from the XI Natural Sciences (control) and 18 students from the XI Social Sciences (experiment). Data collection was conducted through tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The research results indicate that the use of Google Forms significantly improved student learning outcomes, with an average post-test score of 81.6 for the experimental class compared to 46.6 for the control class. The results of the paired sample test and independent sample test showed significance (2-tailed Sig.) of 0.000 < 0.05. The implications of this study indicate that Google Forms is an effective learning medium to enhance student engagement and cognitive achievement in vocabulary learning, and it can be used as an innovative alternative in digital-based learning evaluation.

Abstract

This study empirically examines the instructional effectiveness of the practicum method on the learning achievement of Grade 5 students in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS), with a focus on the topic of magnetism at MIS Muhammadiyah 3 Al-Furqan. Conventional IPAS instruction remains largely teacher-centered, limiting students' understanding of abstract scientific concepts. To address this issue, the study implemented a practicum-based learning approach. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group was employed, involving 52 fifth-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class. Learning outcomes were measured using pretest and posttest instruments and analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the experimental class achieved significantly higher posttest scores (M = 77.62) than the control class (M = 66.19) (p = 0.004). The effect size analysis revealed a significant practical effect of the practicum method on learning achievement (Cohen's d = 0.84), indicating strong pedagogical significance. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the integration of practicum-based learning to enhance elementary IPAS instruction within the madrasah ibtidaiyah context.

Abstract

Good character is an essential factor for a teacher in transferring knowledge to students, alongside mastery of methods and subject matter. The lack of a standardized instrument for assessing the Tazkiyatun Nafs dimension among Madrasah teachers constitutes the primary research problem addressed in this study. This study aimed to develop and validate the Tazkiyatun Nafs instrument for Madrasah teachers using Rasch model analysis. The study population consisted of 405 Madrasah teachers, including 230 female and 175 male teachers. The data collection method used a 1–5 Likert-scale survey. The results of the Rasch analysis, conducted with the Winsteps program, indicated that 13 of 16 items on the Tazkiyatun Nafs instrument met the item-fit criteria and were distributed across four dimensions. The unidimensionality results showed that the Tazkiyatun Nafs instrument measures only a single construct; empirical results indicate that the proportion of variance explained by the measurement exceeds 30%. Item-fit statistics confirm a high level of conformity with the Rasch Model, as reflected by mean-square (MNSQ) values within the acceptable interval of 0.5 < MNSQ < 1.5. Reliability indicators also exhibit strong internal consistency, with item reliability reaching 0.99 and Cronbach’s Alpha recorded at 0.81. The findings of this study indicate a substantive alignment between the theoretical framework and the empirical evidence. The developed measurement model demonstrates coherence with the underlying conceptual structure, thereby offering policymakers practical utility for evaluating teachers’ competencies in the affective domain. Likewise, its reliability value demonstrated a high consistency index. Overall, it can be concluded that the Tazkiyatun Nafs instrument for Madrasah teachers has good psychometric properties and can be used for research and assessment purposes, particularly for evaluating affective characteristics among Madrasah teachers.

Abstract

Introducing sex education to elementary school students is often considered taboo, even though during this period, children begin to experience physical and emotional changes that are important for them to understand. In addition to parents, teachers also play a crucial role in introducing sex education in schools. Furthermore, early introduction of sex education is expected to reduce the rate of sexual abuse among children. The purpose of this study was to determine teachers' perceptions of sex education for students at MIS Muhammadiyah 3 Al Furqan Banjarmasin. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative. The subjects were Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and Science (science) teachers, and homeroom teachers. The object of this study was teachers' perceptions of sex education for students at MIS Muhammadiyah 3 Al Furqan Banjarmasin. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Triangulation was used to verify the validity of the data. The results showed that teachers had positive perceptions because they encompassed all components of attitudes: cognitive, affective, and conative. The strategies teachers use to introduce sex education at the elementary school level include choosing polite language, using simple language to avoid overly stimulating students' curiosity, and linking sex education to classroom learning materials such as Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and science. Challenges teachers face in delivering sex education in schools include difficulty choosing words and delivering material that must be tailored to the child's level of understanding and age, a lack of support from parents who consider sex education at the elementary school level taboo, and the challenge of linking sex education material to lessons without diminishing moral and religious values. Thus, sex education can be delivered effectively as a form of student protection and character development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of learning motivation among students of the Faculty of Sharia at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University in Brunei Darussalam, in the context of communicative Arabic language learning. The study employed a quantitative descriptive-evaluative approach to measure motivational indicators and their behavioral, cognitive, and emotional manifestations, using a closed-ended questionnaire built on established theoretical foundations such as self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan, 1985), the expectancy-value model (Eccles & Wigfield, 2002), and the three-part engagement model (Fredricks et al., 2004). The sample size was 22 students, representing 63% of the total study population. They were selected using the partial enrollment method, as all were actively engaged in learning the course during the 2024 academic year. The data underwent rigorous statistical analysis using relative equality and relative weighting on a five-point Likert scale, with the results interpreted based on a modern theoretical framework. The results indicate that the majority of students are highly motivated to learn communicative Arabic (77.3%), and there is a strong correlation between this motivation and positive academic behaviors, such as class participation and assignment completion. The results also reveal a gap in emotional engagement (neutrality 54.5%), which necessitates a review of content delivery methods and educational incentives. The study concludes with key recommendations, particularly: redesigning the curriculum to consider the affective dimension, enabling interactive technologies, developing assessment methods, and training teachers in emotional and linguistic motivational strategies. The study also calls for longitudinal and qualitative studies, the development of explanatory models linking motivation and learning outcomes, and opening avenues for regional cooperation in the field of teaching Arabic as a second language. This study contributes to enriching the literature on motivation in language learning and offers an applied model that can be used in developing Arabic language teaching policies in multilingual Islamic environments, while drawing attention to the integration of psychological and pedagogical dimensions in the educational process.
