Abstract

Indonesia is a megabiodiversity country with the second-largest abundance of biodiversity in the world. Temu kunci (Boesenbergia rotunda (L.)) is a well-known traditional medicinal plant in Indonesia with many nutritional and therapeutic benefits. It is known to have good pharmacological activity, which is due to the content of secondary metabolites commonly known as pinostrobin. However, more scientific data is still needed to justify its increased use, especially regarding its pharmacokinetics and safety. The aim of the research was to predict the pharmacokinetic properties of pinostrobin compounds. The pinostrobin compound was obtained from PubChem, accessible at https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/, and then pharmacokinetic analysis was carried out using a web tool (https://biosig.lab.uq.edu.au/pkcsm/prediction). The research results show that the pinostrobin compound is a compound that has pharmacokinetic properties, showing that this compound has poor distribution and toxicity capabilities.

Abstract

This research assesses the efficacy and safety of employing antiviral drugs in individuals with COVID-19 and chronic kidney disease. The study results reveal a reduced effectiveness of the drug in enhancing oxygen saturation in patients, as indicated by a p-value of 0.026 for SpO2. Consequently, the administration of antiviral drugs to individuals with chronic kidney disease warrants careful consideration. Moreover, there is a need to pay attention to the safety aspects of antiviral drug utilization, particularly with a p-value of 0.026 for Clcr. It is advisable to refrain from using specific antiviral drugs, such as favipiravir, in COVID-19 patients with chronic kidney conditions. However, contemplating the use of remdesivir at an appropriate dosage may be viable if the patient's glomerular filtration rate (GFR) exceeds 30 ml/minute. The study's conclusion underscores the significance of meticulous and personalized management when employing antiviral drugs in COVID-19 patients with chronic kidney disease. A comprehensive consideration of factors such as effectiveness, safety, and the patient's renal health is imperative to ensure an optimal and tailored treatment approach.

Abstract

The growth and development of toddlers greatly influences the quality of human resources in the future so that the toddler years are an important period in human development. In nutritional development, food has an important role in growth. During the toddler years, apart from breast milk, babies also need additional food, namely MP-ASI. MP-ASI can be contaminated by chemical and biological contaminants, one of the biological contaminants in food is bacteria. The TPC (Total Plate Count) test is a test used to count the number of bacterial colonies in the media being tested. The stages carried out before testing are sample dilution and media formulation. This research aims to determine whether or not there are bacteria in samples of Home industry Baby Porridge sold in the city of Malang. The samples studied were 8 samples. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. Based on the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that of the 8 samples of home industry baby porridge sold in the city of Malang, 2 samples meet the requirements with the condition that the number of colonies is 2 x 10 2 colonies/g. The remaining 6 samples did not meet the requirements.

Abstract

Individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) face an elevated risk of severe COVID-19 infection. A comprehensive investigation into the effectiveness of antiviral medications in treating COVID-19 patients is imperative. The primary goal is to assess the severity of the illness and the efficacy of antiviral drugs in individuals with COVID-19 and CKD following antiviral treatment at Dr. Soedomo Trenggalek Hospital. This study adopts a cross-sectional approach, employing purposive sampling for sample selection. Retrospective data from 2022 medical records of COVID-19 patients diagnosed with CKD are analyzed. The research findings highlight the efficacy of antiviral drugs in diminishing inflammation levels in COVID-19 patients, as indicated by a significant p-value of 0.000. However, the leukocyte data proved inadequate in determining the reduction in inflammatory levels. Therefore, obtaining data on C-reactive protein (CVR) and lymphocytes is crucial for a more accurate measurement. The p-value for ClCr is 0.842.
