Abstract

Education is an educator's effort to convey knowledge or messages to communities, groups or individuals, from not knowing to knowing. Ethylene glycol and Diethylene glycol are alcohols that have toxic properties that can increase mortality and morbidity when their use exceeds the provisions or limits that have been set. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge and attitudes of parents in Kronjo Village and Bakung Village about the case of fever-reducing syrup preparations as the main factor causing atypical progressive acute renal failure in children after being given education. Cross sectional research design with pretest and posttest data collection techniques on parents in Kronjo Village and Bakung Village. The data were then analyzed using an application called SPSS (Kolmogorov-smirnov two sample test and Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test). The results showed that the level of knowledge and attitude of parents in Kronjo Village and Bakung Village had increased after being given education. This is evidenced by the results of data that has been analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test with a p value of 0.000 ≤ 0.05, which means there is a significant difference.

Abstract

Antioxidants are chemical compounds that donate one or more electrons to free radicals to inhibit free radical reactions. One of the potential antioxidant sources is gandaria fruit (Bouea Macrophylla Griff). This research aims to determine the antioxidant activity and vitamin C content of the gandaria fruit extract. Gandaria fruit was macerated with ethanol as a solvent. Furthermore, the rotated extract was carried out for the phytochemical screening. The results of the phytochemical screening of the gandaria fruit extract showed a positive of flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, saponins, and phenolics. The gandaria fruit extract was tested for antioxidants and quantitative analysis of vitamin C levels to obtain IC50 values and vitamin C levels using spectrophotometry UV-Vis at a wavelength of 517nm with vitamin C as a positive control. The results of spectrophotometric measurements revealed that the gandaria fruit extract had an IC50 value of 5.72 g/ml, and vitamin C had an IC50 value of 2.260 g/ml, indicating that the gandaria fruit extract and vitamin C had very strong antioxidants. The value of vitamin C levels was 0.526 mg.

Abstract

Pollution in the environment can increase the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can reduce the amount of antioxidants in the skin. Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit oxidation reactions by binding to free radicals and reactive molecules. Herbaceous plant jotang (Acmella paniculata) has secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins, which can protect the internal and external organs of the body's cells from damage caused by free radicals on the skin. One of the treatment preparations used for the skin is a cream mask, as the use or application at the final level of skin care can improve cleanliness and health and stimulate and repair skin cells. This study aims to determine a formula that has a good antioxidant value using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-pikrilhidrazyl). In this study, preparations were made with 3 formulas, namely Formula I (1% w/w), Formula II (10%w/w), and Formula 0 (Control). Evaluation of physical properties included organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, spreadability tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, cream-type tests, and antioxidant tests. The result showed that the organoleptic test had a cream mask dosage in the form of semi-solid, distinctive jotang odor, light and dark green, had a homogeneous dosage form, spreadability around 5.1-5.7 with an average pH value of 6, had a good viscosity value and had a type of cream M/A and a high antioxidant value in formula II (10% w/w ) with an IC50 value of 21.959 μg/ml. Based on statistical tests, significant results were obtained of 0.000<p (0.05) so that it can be interpreted that there was a significant difference in each concentration of jotang herb extract to the resulting IC50 value.
