Abstract

Traditional medicine is defined as an herb that has been used for generations for treatment. Ignorance about the use of traditional medicine leads to public misunderstanding of traditional medicines that are supposed to cure but are actually potentially harmful. This study aims to determine the level of public knowledge about the use of traditional medicine in Gondosuli Village, Tawangmangu District. The research method used the Spearman Rank test to determine the relationship between variables and correlations using 357 samples by random sampling. The results obtained showed a significant relationship between knowledge and the use of traditional medicine in Gondosuli Village, Tawangmangu, Karanganyar with a p value of <0.05, which was 0.000. The conclusion of this study is that community knowledge is related to the use of traditional medicine in Gondosuli village.

Abstract

Horticultural commodity crops can be prioritized, apart from industrial needs, they can also be utilized by the community because they play a role in facilitating nutritional needs which include fiber, vitamins and protein. The biochemical composition contained in horticultural commodity plants are substances that are essential for the human body. Priorities for horticultural commodity crops to be cultivated by farmers include high economic value, high market opportunities, and high income benefits. Strawberry is a horticultural commodity crop that has quite high economic value. Controlling diseases that have the potential to attack plants is one of the main priorities for plant breeders because until now farmers still control them by using chemicals that are less economical, very excessive, not well maintained, pollute the environment as a negative effect, namely by using pesticides excessively. instant or chemical. The two types of fungal pathogens found in this research to attack strawberry plants include Botrytis cinerea, Colletotrichum acutatum. The solution to overcome the minimal use of synthetic and environmentally friendly pesticides is to use natural ingredients which can reduce the occurrence of quite high side effects in the long term. The natural material used in this research is kecombrang flowers extracted by 96% ethanol. The research carried out was laboratory experimental, namely by providing synthetic antibiotics as a positive control, CMC 1% as a negative control, ethanol extract of kecombrang flowers at 1%, 3% and 5%. The test method for testing this durability is disc diffusion. 96% ethanol extract at all concentrations correlated positively as an antifungal for horticultural commodity plant pathogens in strawberry species. A 5% concentration of 96% ethanol extract is the best treatment when compared to concentrations of 1% and 3%.

Abstract

One of the long-term losses in homeostatic balance for any organism is a sign of aging skin. The state of hyperpigmentation caused by the activity of the tyrosinase enzyme is an indicator of aging. The solution that can be recommended to prevent premature signs of aging is by caring for the skin using the most affordable pharmaceutical preparation, namely Hand Sanitizer Gel. Hand Sanitizer Gel which has anti-aging properties can be produced from bioactive compounds from horticultural commodity plants because it has been proven and is quite popular. Apart from being able to be used as an active ingredient in functional food, it can also be used as a pharmaceutical, namely the preparation of active cosmetic ingredients. This is due to the content of vitamins, antioxidants, essential oils, proteins, even phenolic compounds and other environmentally friendly active ingredients found in horticultural commodity plants, especially the fruit group used in this research. Red dragon fruit has been proven to contain organic compounds such as gallic acid, elagic acid and ferulic acid which can inhibit the melanogenesis process both in vitro and in vivo from the results of previous findings. Lemons contain saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins so they can be designed to inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme. This research aims to determine the inhibitory power of the tyrosinase enzyme from extracts of horticultural commodity plants, both red dragon fruit and lemon peels in the form of hand sanitizer gel formulations and preparations. The results of this research have proven that based on the IC50 value, horticultural commodity plant extracts from lemon peel have better inhibitory power for the tyrosinase enzyme compared to red dragon fruit, namely 3,509 µg/mL. The conclusion in this research is that horticultural commodity plants in the form of lemon peel extract are more recommended as an active substance in inhibiting the tyrosinase enzyme when compared with red dragon fruit extract based on the IC50 value even though the hand sanitizer gel dosage form has the potential to inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme.

Abstract

Radikal bebas adalah atom atau molekul dengan elektron tidak berpasangan, dan yang paling reaktif adalah radikal hidroksil (OH). Tanaman Andong Merah (Cordyline fruticosa L.) dikenal memiliki efek antioksidan, berkat kandungan saponin, tanin, flavonoid, polifenol, steroida, polisakarida, kalsium oksalat, dan zat besi. Flavonoid, salah satu senyawa dalam tanaman ini, efektif sebagai penangkap radikal bebas. Penelitian ini menilai efek kombinasi karbopol 940 dan HPMC sebagai agen pengental dalam gel ekstrak etanol daun andong merah terhadap sifat fisiknya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu maserasi menggunakan etanol 70%. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa gel stabil baik secara organoleptis maupun homogen sebelum dan setelah penyimpanan. Viskositas gel mengalami perubahan selama penyimpanan. Formula I dengan kombinasi karbopol 940 dan HPMC pada konsentrasi 1,50% dan 3,50% menunjukkan pH yang stabil dalam rentang fisiologis kulit (4,5-6,5). Daya sebar gel, baik pada Formula I, II, III, dan IV, juga stabil dengan diameter 3-5 cm. Kesimpulan analisis spektrofotometri UVVis FI menunjukkan absorbansi yang sesuai dengan hukum Lambert-Beer, dengan grafik linear dan nilai R² mendekati 1, menandakan hasil yang akurat.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage cell membranes, DNA, and proteins, thereby triggering premature aging. Preventive efforts can be carried out through skin care using cosmetic products containing natural antioxidants, which are considered safer and capable of providing long-term protection. One cosmetic product that functions as a moisturizer is face toner. Fragrant pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) are known to contain antioxidant compounds, making them potential active ingredients in face toner formulations. This study aimed to formulate a face toner containing fragrant pandan leaf extract in three concentration variations, namely 1%, 2%, and 3%. Antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH method to determine IC₅₀ values. Physical quality evaluations were also conducted, including organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, and viscosity. The results showed that formula 0 had an IC₅₀ value of 261.11 ppm (very weak), formula 1 had an IC₅₀ value of 51.95 ppm (strong), formula 2 had an IC₅₀ value of 40.32 ppm (very strong), and formula 3 had an IC₅₀ value of 32.91 ppm (very strong). Abstract

Paparan sinar ultraviolet (UV) dapat menyebabkan radikal bebas yang merusak jaringan kulit, termasuk bibir. Daun miana (Coleus atropurpureus L. Benth) mengandung senyawa seperti flavonoid, tanin, alkaloid dan steroid yang berfungsi sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini merancang lip balm menggunakan ekstrak daun miana dengan variasi konsentrasi beeswax: F1 (5%), F2 (10%), dan F3 (20%), serta mengevaluasi stabilitas fisik selama 28 hari, keamanan, dan efektivitas antioksidan. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol 96%. Evaluasi meliputi pengujian organoleptis, homogenitas, titik lebur, pH, dan aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH. Hasil menunjukkan semua formula memenuhi kriteria mutu fisik. Lip balm F3 (20%) memperoleh nilai IC₅₀ sebesar 11,2427 ppm, menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat, sedangkan stabilitas fisik terbaik pada F2 (10%). Uji iritasi dan hedonik menunjukkan semua formula aman dan diterima panelis. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah lip balm F2 memiliki stabilitas fisik terbaik, F3 menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat, dan semua formula aman digunakan.

Abstract

The selection menu in some racing games usually uses a random system for vehicle selection. However, this random feature generally randomizes the selection of the index without considering factors that support the player's abilities. Therefore, this study aims to develop a racing game that can suggest vehicles that have been adjusted to the player's performance. Vehicle recommendations are made using the multi-objective optimization on the basis of ratio analysis (MOORA) method as its method. The MOORA calculation ranks vehicles based on criteria such as mileage, fuel efficiency, speed, agility, and others collected in previous games. The results of this study show the effectiveness of using the MOORA method in recommending vehicles that match the player's skills, thereby improving the overall player experience. In addition, the usability test produced a system usability scale (SUS) score of 82.4, so it is included in the very good category.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that requires long-term treatment. The concomitant use of multiple medications in hospitalized patients may increase the risk of potential drug interactions, which can affect treatment effectiveness and patient safety. This study aimed to evaluate potential antihypertensive drug interactions in hospitalized patients based on medical record data. A descriptive study with a retrospective design was conducted by reviewing the medical records of patients with hypertension at a regional public hospital in Central Java. The samples were selected using purposive sampling according to the predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Potential drug interactions were analyzed based on the combinations of medications prescribed during hospitalization. The results showed that 85 patients (70.83%) had potential drug interactions, with a total of 208 interaction events, of which 155 (74.52%) involved antihypertensive drugs. The most frequent potential interaction occurred between amlodipine and Santagesik, accounting for 20 events (9.62%). Most interactions were classified as significant (77.40%) and were predominantly pharmacokinetic in mechanism (79.81%). Potential antihypertensive drug interactions remain common among hospitalized patients, highlighting the importance of regular therapy evaluation and medication monitoring to improve treatment safety and effectiveness.

Abstract

Indonesia’s tropical climate with high sun exposure increases the risk of oxidative stress on the skin due to free radicals. Synthetic antioxidants in skincare products are proven effective but may cause long-term side effects. Natural ingredients offer a safer and more promising alternative. This study aimed to formulate an antioxidant lotion using ethanol extracts of black soybean and pigeon pea. Extraction was carried out by maceration using 70% ethanol as solvent. The extracts were formulated into five lotion formulas, consisting of three extract combinations, one positive control, and one negative control. Evaluation included antioxidant activity using the DPPH method and physical stability tests. Formula 3, containing 11,31% black soybean extract and 3,75% pigeon pea extract, shows the highest antioxidant activity with a strong category (IC₅₀ = 73,5 µg/mL). All formulas show good physical stability during 21 days of storage and form oil-in-water emulsions. The combination of black soybean and pigeon pea extracts demonstrates strong antioxidant potential with good formulation stability and is suitable for development in natural cosmetic products.

Abstract

Excessive exposure to UV rays can cause various skin damage so that sunscreen preparations are needed. Kepok banana flowers (Musa acuminata x M. balbisiana) contain flavonoid compounds that have the potential as active ingredients in natural sunscreens, especially in the form of spray gel preparations. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in carbopol concentration on the physical characteristics and SPF value of spray gel preparations using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and to determine the most optimal formula. Ethanol extract of kepok banana flowers was obtained by maceration method using 96% ethanol. Sunscreen spray gel from ethanol extract of kepok banana flowers was formulated with variations in carbopol concentrations of 0,5% (F1), 0,75% (F2), and 1% (F3). The resulting spray gel was tested including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, adhesion, spray pattern, and SPF value. The results showed that variations in carbopol concentration significantly affected the physical characteristics of the preparation, especially the organoleptic texture, pH, viscosity, and spray pattern, but did not significantly affect the SPF value of the spray gel preparation of ethanol extract of kepok banana flowers (Musa acuminata x M. balbisiana). Formula 2 with a carbopol concentration of 0,75% was determined as the most optimal formula with the most balanced physical characteristics and an SPF value of 15.616 with an ultra protection category.
