Abstract

Most scalp problems in the community are dandruff. The most widely known microorganism that contributes to dandruff is Malassezia spp. The currently available treatment options for anti-dandruff are mostly synthetic substances. Unfortunately, these synthetic substances can cause various problems, such as side effects and drug resistance, especially the compliance of the patient. Herbal remedies that can be used to reduce the risks are essential oils. There are several essential oils that have been researched on anti-dandruff potential are Tea Tree, Lemongrass, Lavender, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Coleus amboinicus, etc. The potential of essential oils as anti-dandruff ingredients in scalp remedies will be discussed in this article review. This article review was conducted using a comparative research method from a variety of sources, including online research journals and other sources. The outcome of this review article revealed that the previously mentioned essential oils have positive results in inhibiting the growth of the Malassezia sp., in its pure form, a combination of pure essential oils, or when in product form.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia, due to relative and absolute insulin deficiency of the body. Acarbose is a drug that can be used to treat diabetes mellitus, especially type II diabetes mellitus. Type II diabetes mellitus is an endocrine disease that causes 95 % of deaths worldwide. Gude bean extract (Cajanus cajan) is one alternative to the use of natural anti-diabetic medicine, containing saponins, flavonoids, phenolics, and tannins. Flavonoids are antioxidant compounds that have a hypoglycemia effect in people with diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to test the inhibitory activity of alpha-glucosidase enzyme from gude bean extract. The enzyme α-glucosidase activity was quantified by measuring the quantity of para-nitrophenol generated at a wavelength of 405 nm. The inhibitory power of the α-glucosidase enzyme was seen from the IC50 value. Gude Bean Extract has the ability to inhibit the enzyme α-glucosidase resulting in an IC50 value of 69.67 ppm strong level activity. Abstract

Abstract

The conventional agricultural system that is applied tends to use chemicals such as pesticides, on the one hand, providing various positive impacts, including increasing productivity quickly, meeting food needs efficiently, and helping food insecurity as often occurs in India. Sustainable agricultural systems are aimed at reducing environmental damage, maintaining agricultural productivity, increasing farmers' income and improving the stability and quality of life of rural communities. Three big indicators that can be seen are that the environment is sustainable, the economy is improving (prosperous), and it is socially accepted by the farming community. Other negative impacts on conventional agricultural systems include decreasing soil quality, giving rise to new pests and diseases, environmentally friendly microorganisms becoming extinct, toxic chemicals threatening the condition of the biosphere in the food chain. The concept of organic farming that is applied ideally is based on optimal, balanced, efficient management of land, water and land, so that existing biodiversity is one of the external efforts to provide a positive impact. In writing this literature review, the sections that will be discussed include the application of conventional agricultural systems that occur in India, suggestions and improvements that can be implemented based on potential such as modeling greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, GHG (Greenhouse Gas) mitigation from agriculture, absorption of element C in agricultural soil, conservation agriculture, reducing nitrous oxide emissions, economic implications of greenhouse gas mitigation, and the use of butterfly pea flower kombucha in agricultural aspects
