Abstract

Abstract

The growing complexity of anxiety disorders, a common mental health problem, significantly affects individuals' quality of life. In an effort to address this disorder, mindfulness therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) have become an increasing focus of research. However, the comparative effectiveness between these two therapeutic approaches is still a matter of debate in the scientific literature. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of mindfulness therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy in overcoming anxiety disorders. The research method used was a systematic review of relevant empirical studies that have been conducted in this field. Data from these studies were comprehensively analyzed to evaluate the relative effectiveness of the two therapeutic approaches. The results showed that both mindfulness therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy have significant benefits in reducing anxiety disorder symptoms. However, there are differences in the approach and focus of each therapy. Mindfulness therapy emphasizes on self-awareness of thoughts and feelings without judging them, while cognitive-behavioral therapy focuses on changing negative thought patterns and harmful behaviors. In addition, some studies have shown that cognitive-behavioral therapy can provide faster results especially in addressing acute anxiety symptoms, while mindfulness therapy tends to be more effective in the long run. The conclusion of this study is that both mindfulness therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy can be effective options in treating anxiety disorders, depending on individual needs and preferences. The selection of the appropriate therapy should take into account individual characteristics, the severity of the anxiety disorder, and the treatment context. A combination or integration between the two types of therapy may also be a promising approach in improving treatment outcomes for individuals with anxiety disorders.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of social support in reducing stress among pre-adolescent children, focusing on the contributions of family, peers, and schools. Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires administered to 200 pre-adolescent children aged 9 to 12 years. The findings reveal that social support from family significantly correlates with lower stress levels, emphasizing the importance of emotional backing from parents. Additionally, peer support was found to be crucial, as children with strong friendships demonstrated better-coping mechanisms in stressful situations. School support, characterized by teachers’ attentiveness and a positive school environment, also played a vital role in mitigating stress among children. Moreover, demographic factors such as socioeconomic status and gender influenced the extent of social support received, with children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds reporting less access to support networks. The study highlights the critical need for parents, educators, and policymakers to foster supportive environments that can enhance children's emotional resilience and well-being. These findings contribute to the existing literature on child development and stress management, offering practical recommendations for improving the mental health of pre-adolescent children.

Abstract

This study investigates the stigma surrounding mental disorders in Indonesian society and its impact on individuals’ willingness to seek psychological help. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 80 respondents through a structured questionnaire employing a 5-point Likert scale. The results, analyzed using SPSS version 25, revealed a significant negative correlation between stigma and help-seeking behavior, with stigma accounting for 29% of the variance in help-seeking attitudes. The findings emphasize stigma as a critical barrier to accessing mental health services in Indonesia, influenced by cultural and social norms. Strategies to reduce stigma through public education and culturally sensitive interventions are recommended to encourage help-seeking behavior and improve mental health outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze parental communication patterns and their impact on the social development of early childhood. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Research informants consisted of parents of early childhood children and teachers as data support. Data were analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that parental communication patterns have a significant influence on children's social development. Democratic communication patterns have been shown to support children in becoming self-confident, sociable, cooperative, and empathetic. Conversely, authoritarian communication patterns make children tend to be obedient but passive, while permissive patterns result in children who lack discipline and have difficulty sharing. Mixed communication patterns indicate inconsistent social development. In addition, nonverbal forms of communication (such as hugs, facial expressions, eye contact) play an important role in building a child's sense of security. This study emphasizes the importance of quality communication within the family to support the social development of early childhood in the digital era.

Abstract

Bullying behavior in schools remains a significant challenge, impacting students' well-being, social relationships, and academic success. This study explores the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral counseling (CBC) approach in reducing bullying behavior through qualitative analysis involving five informants, including school counselors and students. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews and analyzed using NVIVO software to identify key themes. The findings indicate that CBC effectively reduces bullying behavior by improving emotional regulation, fostering empathy, and enhancing conflict resolution skills. However, practical challenges such as time constraints, limited resources, and stigma surrounding counseling were identified. These findings provide valuable insights for educators and policymakers to develop evidence-based strategies for addressing bullying behavior and promoting a safer school environment.
