Abstract

The study of sports injuries is a crucial and captivating topic that requires thorough exploration. Understanding and effectively managing sports injuries is essential for coaches, instructors, and athletes. However, there is limited awareness among sports practitioners, particularly regarding flat foot conditions. Therefore, this research aims to identify common injuries among athletes with flat feet through a comprehensive survey. Employing a quantitative descriptive method with a survey-based approach. This study included a sample of 89 male athletes who sought treatment for sports-related injuries at massage clinics. Data collection techniques encompassed observations, interviews, questionnaires, and measurement tests. Purposive sampling was utilised for participant selection. Wet footprint tests, stature metres, weight scales, and questionnaires were employed for data collection. Data analysis employed the percentage formula and was supported by Excel software. The findings indicated that athletes with flat feet were more susceptible to knee injuries (69%), ankle injuries (31%), external causes of injury (22%), internal causes of injury (52%), and overuse injuries (26%). These results imply that athletes with flat feet who seek treatment at massage clinics commonly experience knee and ankle injuries, with internal trauma being the leading cause. This study contributes to a better understanding of injury identification among individuals with flat feet, aiding in the selection of appropriate sports activities. Limitations of this study include a single research site, an uneven distribution of sports disciplines, and a male-only sample. Future research should employ more comprehensive methods and ensure representative samples across various sports to facilitate proper generalisation of the data.

Abstract

Background: Physical performance in Sepak Takraw is very important, including speed, agility, and strength. One of the important factors in supporting sepak takraw achievement is physical performance. Physical performance is important to evaluate, but the fact that empirically evaluating the physical performance of Sepak Takraw has not shown a comprehensive evaluation means that a more in-depth evaluation is needed. Research Objectives: This study seeks to assess the physical condition of Indonesian Sepak Takraw athletes throughout the general preparation stage. Methods: Participants in Sepak Takraw were 12 people aged 19-31 years, weighing ± 60-75 kg and ± 164-179 cm tall. The aspects evaluated consist of speed, endurance, agility, power, and muscle endurance. This study's instruments include a 20-meter sprint, a multistage fitness test, sit-ups, a 60-second backup, a shuttle run, and a vertical jump. The data was analysed using quantitative descriptive analysis and the nonparametric Wilcoxon test. Findings and Results: The results of mean speed values obtained in each test are 1 (3.03) and 2 (3.15), endurance test 1 (49.87) and 2 (53.63), situp test 1 (72) and 2 (84), back up test 1 (111) and 2 (119), agility test 1 (5.14) and 2 (5.01), power test 1 (62.83) and 2 (64.17). Regarding the Asymp.sig (2-tailed) value, speed obtained a value of 0.004, endurance 0.004, sit-up 0.010, and agility 0.018 with p < 0.05. Several aspects have seen substantial changes; however, the specific focus should be devoted to the speed aspect, which requires improvement. Conclusion: This evaluation provides information to improve physical performance. Further evaluation is needed to collect more comprehensive data. Future research can build on the findings of the current study, provide deeper insights and more comprehensive strategies to improve the physical performance of Sepak Takraw athletes.

Abstract

Archery requires good physical and mental abilities in order for athletes to produce accurate shots. This study aimed to determine the relationship between arm muscle strength and concentration on archery accuracy in Vijas Archery Club athletes. This study employed a quantitative method with a multiple correlational approach. The research sample consisted of 20 Vijas Archery Club athletes selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through an arm muscle strength test using an Expanding Dynamometer, a concentration test using the Grid Concentration Test, and a shooting accuracy test at a distance of 30 meters. The data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation test and multiple linear regression. Result: The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between concentration and shooting accuracy, with a correlation value of 0.616 and a significance value of 0.004. In addition, there was a very strong relationship between arm muscle strength and shooting accuracy, with a correlation value of 0.927 and a significance value of 0.000. The results of multiple linear regression indicated that arm muscle strength had the most dominant influence on shooting accuracy compared to concentration. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that arm muscle strength and concentration are related to archery accuracy. However, arm muscle strength is the most influential factor in improving the shooting performance of archery athletes
