Abstract

ABSTRACT Title: The Effectivennes of various feed variations in the fly trap as a control of fly density at the Andong street Yogyakarta. Background: Flies are one of the insects that have a high population in the community. Flies play a role in transmitting disease to humans such a dysentery, typoid, cholera, worm infection, conjungtivitis, leprosy trachoma, mycosis and cutaneus diphteria. Fly traps are used fpr the control of large and dense adult flies. The application on fly traps is carried out outside the house in the open air and is not spared from trees. The use of this tool is paired with the bait used the attract flies to get closer to the smell and content of the bait, this research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of bait varians in the fly trap in controlling flies at the temporary disposal site (TPS) at the Andong street Yogyakarta.Method: This research was a experimental study with a variety of bait fish, shrimp, jackfruit, shrimp paste, and mango. Measurements were made at radius of ± 1 meter from the garbage pile. The data obtained were analyzed using the One Way Anova tesy with an error degree of α=0,05 and continued with the Post hoc Tamhanne test.Result: The result showed that there were significant result on the average of flies trapped in the fly trap with the shrimp paste bait and shrimp bait obtained p value = 0.042 (p<α). That there was a significant difference between shrimp paste bait and shrimp bait. Conclusions: There was a difference in the average number of flies trapped in fly traps for fish, shrimp, jackfruit, shrimp paste, mango. There was a significant difference of flies trapped between shrimp paste bait and shrimp bait. Fly trap shrimp bait is the most preferred bait by flies shrimp paste bait is the least preferred bait by flies.

Abstract

Abstract

The farmers in Indonesia have not maximally taken advantage of the existence of rice husk; therefore the huge number of the husk becomes disturbing waste, which spoils environment. The waste of rice husk is potentially capable of improving the farmers’ economy amidst the people’s lack of knowledge about its potential to commercially produce charcoal briquettes from it, make it a plant growing medium, and change it into manure. This research aims at knowing if the training of recycling waste of rice husk can improve the farmers’ entrepreneurship motivation. The subjects of the research were farmers in groups at Bimomartani village, Ngemplak district, Sleman regency. They were 60 participants divided into experintal and control groups. The planned experiment used untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples. The paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test were used as the techniques of analysis in this research. The result of t-test on paired sample t-test for the experimental group resulted in the value of t = -6.659 with p = 0.000 (p<0.01), which means there was a significant difference of entrepreneurship motivation before and after the training of recycling rice husk. The analysis for Independent sample t-test resulted in the value of t = 7.411 with p = 0.000 (p<0.01), which means there was a significant difference of entrepreneurship motivation between experimental and control groups. It can be concluded that the training of recycling waste of rice husk was effective in improving the farmers’ entrepreneurship motivation.

Techniques of data retrieval is in-depth interviews with cleaning service, students, employees, canteen vendors, head of BIFAS, vice chancellor II, and the Head of Household. The problems that occurred include: unsorted garbage bins resulting in unpleasant odor, lowered aesthetics, comfort decrease in GARBAGE DUMP , improper behavior of UAD campus residents related to littering, and lack of specific policies related to waste management in campus. Problems of campus trash includes: absence of waste separation process which results in odor, lowered aesthetics, and comfort decrease in GARBAGE DUMP . Another problem is the improper behavior of residents of UAD campus associated with littering, and the lack of specific policies related to campus waste management.
