Abstract

This study examines the compliance of multinational companies with the Regional Minimum Wage (UMR) regulations in Indonesia and the factors contributing to violations. Although UMR is designed to protect workers' welfare, many companies still pay below the established standards. A qualitative research method was employed to collect data through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that UMR violations occur across various industrial sectors, with violation rates ranging from 10% to 20%. Factors contributing to these violations include a lack of oversight, ineffective law enforcement, and legal uncertainties related to regulations that vary between regions. The research also identifies that UMR violations significantly impact workers' welfare, including difficulties in meeting basic needs and increased stress due to financial uncertainty. To enhance compliance, the study recommends improving oversight and law enforcement, harmonizing UMR standards across regions, and developing an anonymous complaint system for workers. These findings are expected to provide insights for policymakers, company management, and workers to improve the implementation of UMR regulations and enhance workers' welfare in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of social media on public opinion formation in the post-truth era, characterized by the spread of biased or inaccurate information. Social media platforms, while facilitating information dissemination, often contribute to the creation of echo chambers and filter bubbles, shaping political perceptions and influencing public discourse. Through a qualitative approach, this research investigates how misinformation and disinformation campaigns leverage social media to manipulate public opinion and the role of education and policy regulation in counteracting these effects. The findings provide insights into regulatory frameworks and digital literacy strategies needed to mitigate the adverse effects of social media on political opinion.

Abstract

Global dependence on fossil energy faces serious challenges in the era of energy transition, marked by geopolitical crises such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, oil price volatility and global decarbonization pressures. Indonesia, as a developing country with fossil energy reserves and ambitious targets for the transition to renewable energy, is in a strategic but complex position. Energy security is now a national issue as well as part of international geopolitical strategy. This research aims to analyze Indonesia's strategy in creating energy security amid global dynamics, as well as evaluate the geopolitical implications of the national energy transition policy. This research uses a qualitative approach with a policy study method and analysis of official documents such as Presidential Regulation No. 112 of 2022, the National Energy General Plan (RUEN), as well as IEA and IRENA reports. A geopolitical analysis framework approach was also used to assess Indonesia's position in the global energy supply chain. The results show that Indonesia is developing a dual-track strategy: strengthening domestic energy infrastructure based on renewable energy and expanding energy diplomacy with strategic partners such as China, Japan and the Gulf countries. However, major challenges still exist in the form of investment imbalances, coal dependence, and local political resistance to energy transition projects. Therefore, Indonesia's energy security strategy in the transition era requires synergy between national policies and global geopolitics in an adaptive and collaborative manner.

Abstract

The common factors determining Commercial banks’ lending to SMEs are internal and external. This study assessed the combined effect of these two factors that determine the commercial banks’ credit accessibility and SMEs’ growth in Nigeria. Data from 1990 to 2023 were used to evaluate the hypothesis. The outcome demonstrates that the internal factors of commercial banks factors on credit accessibility to SMEs were 0.039110 and statistically significant at the 5% level (p-value = 0.0254). The outcome suggests that internal factors of commercial bank determinants on the availability of credit to SMEs play a significant impact on the expansion of SMEs in Nigeria. At the 5 per cent level, the external influence of commercial banks on SMEs' access to credit was -0.014003 and statistically insignificant (p-value = 0.2757). The results will substantially aid in designing and implementing monetary policy about the cash reserve requirement. It also conveys to SMEs the significance of cash reserve requirements in improving loan accessibility in Nigeria. As a result, the paper recommends that monetary policy be continually improved to favour SMEs because doing so will facilitate their expansion.

Abstract

This research explores the dynamics of corporate performance and governance in the context of globalization and fierce business competition. With a focus on the Spanish tourism sector and evaluating corporate governance in Latin America, the study uses a mixed approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis. The study aimed to understand the relationship between corporate performance and corporate governance by exploring the differences between family and non-family businesses. The research provides insight into how ownership, management, and governance practices can affect corporate performance through literature studies, return on capital analysis, and corporate governance evaluations. The results show that family businesses have unique dynamics involving emotional involvement and creativity, while good corporate governance is concerned with consistency of return on capital. Implications include a better understanding for organizational leaders in making investment decisions and sustainable business strategies. This research makes theoretical and practical contributions to understanding performance dynamics and corporate governance in global and local business contexts.

Abstract

Rural communities have untapped economic potential that, if properly leveraged, could promote economic independence and sustainable development. This study aims to identify how village resources—such as agriculture, crafts, and services—can be optimized through local entrepreneurship and skill development to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews and observations of a selected rural community, focusing on resource mapping, local entrepreneurship, skill development, and financial access. Results indicate that while resources are available, their utilization is limited by restricted market access, financial constraints, and a lack of advanced skill training. The findings suggest that expanding training programs, introducing low-interest loans, and providing access to broader markets could significantly enhance local entrepreneurial success. These insights contribute to the understanding of rural economic empowerment and offer practical recommendations for policymakers to support village-based economic initiatives. Overall, this research emphasizes the role of resource management and entrepreneurship in fostering sustainable rural development.

Abstract

The integration of AI in agriculture is transforming rural agribusinesses, offering solutions for increased productivity and sustainability. However, these agribusinesses face significant challenges in recruiting and retaining AI talent due to geographical limitations, limited career growth opportunities, and perceptions of technological constraints. This study investigates the factors impacting AI talent acquisition and retention within rural agribusinesses and explores practical strategies to address these challenges. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected from HR professionals across rural agribusinesses, focusing on their experiences and strategies for managing AI-driven recruitment and retention. Findings indicate that limited candidate pools, infrastructural constraints, and perceptions of limited professional growth pose significant barriers to attracting tech-savvy talent. Effective retention strategies identified include flexible work arrangements, skill development programs, and digital engagement platforms, all of which contribute to higher job satisfaction among AI professionals in rural settings. The study concludes that rural agribusinesses can enhance their talent acquisition by emphasizing the impact of AI in sustainable agriculture and by adapting digital recruitment strategies to target tech-driven professionals seeking purpose-oriented careers. These findings provide valuable insights for HR practitioners and policymakers aiming to bridge the digital divide in agriculture through improved AI talent management.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of human resource (HR) strategies aimed at enhancing employee performance, talent retention, and development in the livestock sector. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected from interviews with HR managers, supervisors, and employees, supplemented by employee questionnaires and direct observations. Findings reveal that HR strategies focusing on professional development—such as structured training programs and career advancement opportunities—significantly improve employee performance and job satisfaction. Farms implementing these practices experienced a retention rate increase from 60% to 85%, leading to greater workforce stability and reduced recruitment costs. Additionally, employee productivity improved by 30%, as workers gained technical expertise and adaptability to technological advancements in livestock management. owever, financial constraints and limited access to modern HR technology pose challenges to broader implementation. Many farms struggle to allocate resources for sustained HR initiatives, and rural operations face difficulties in integrating digital HR tools for training and performance tracking. The impact of these findings is significant. Continuous investment in employee development is essential for maintaining productivity and competitiveness, particularly in industries undergoing rapid technological shifts. Policymakers and industry leaders should explore financial support mechanisms, technology-driven HR solutions, and incentives for employee upskilling. This study contributes to HR literature by providing sector-specific insights and practical recommendations for strengthening HR practices in agriculture and related industries.
