Abstract

This study aims to identify the job preferences of Generation Z in Samarinda and the factors that influence their interest in working for start-up companies. The research focuses on analyzing the influence of employer branding and corporate reputation on intention to apply, with innovative work behavior considered as a moderating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, using a questionnaire distributed to 105 Gen Z respondents in Samarinda. The results indicate that both employer branding and corporate reputation have a positive and significant effect on intention to apply. However, innovative work behavior does not moderate the relationship between employer branding and intention to apply. These findings highlight that a company's image and reputation play a crucial role in attracting Generation Z to job opportunities, particularly in the start-up sector. Therefore, companies are encouraged to develop appropriate strategies by understanding the work preferences of Generation Z, who are expected to dominate the labor market in the near future.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of social media engagement on trust and customer satisfaction, as well as how these factors affect repurchase intention among Spotify users from Generation Z and Generation Alpha. It also explores the moderating role of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) in those relationships. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 238 respondents through an online survey and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that social media engagement significantly increases both trust and customer satisfaction. In turn, both trust and satisfaction significantly influence users’ intention to continue using the platform. FOMO strengthens the relationship between social media engagement and trust but does not significantly moderate the relationship between engagement and satisfaction. These results suggest that emotional and social factors particularly personalized digital experiences and perceived social trends play a key role in shaping digital loyalty. The study highlights the importance for digital platforms like Spotify to focus on both social engagement and accurate personalization to maintain user satisfaction and loyalty.

Abstract

The main challenge in developing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the digital era is low digital literacy and limited use of promotional platforms such as Facebook Ads. This community service activity aims to enhance MSME actors’ capacity to optimize Facebook Ads as an effective and affordable digital marketing tool. The implementation method involves practical training and interactive workshops engaging 10 MSME participants in Samarinda, with direct guidance from university students. Evaluation was conducted using pretest and posttest assessments. The results show that participants’ average understanding scores increased from 8.1 to 14, indicating a 73% improvement, which reflects significant enhancement in digital marketing hard skills. Moreover, participants successfully created business accounts, designed ad campaigns, and interpreted ad performance independently. The program also positively influenced participants’ self-confidence and readiness to promote their products digitally. These findings suggest that targeted digital marketing training can significantly empower MSME actors in the adoption of online promotional strategies, fostering more competitive and digitally savvy business practices.

Abstract

This community service program was carried out in Tanjung Batu Village, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, with the aim of empowering local communities through the digitalization of education and the production of eco-enzyme as an innovation in organic waste management. The participants consisted of approximately 30 people, including housewives, youth groups, and students. The activity was implemented using a participatory and collaborative approach through several stages: program preparation, digital-based education, hands-on practice of eco-enzyme production, mentoring, and evaluation. The results show that eco-enzyme production can be conducted in a simple manner using household organic waste, although several technical challenges were encountered during the fermentation process. The program had a positive impact on the community, particularly in raising environmental awareness, reducing kitchen waste, and fostering active participation in waste management practices. In addition, the use of digital media proved effective in disseminating educational materials, even though direct assistance remained necessary to ensure successful implementation. The program also enhanced students’ capacity, particularly in communication skills, digital literacy, and environmental awareness. Overall, the findings confirm that the synergy between environmental innovation and digital education can serve as an effective strategy for sustainable community empowerment, while also contributing to global sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to understand how Strategic Human Resource Agility (SHRA) is manifested and differentiated across Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, particularly within the context of digital transformation. It explores the interplay between institutional readiness, digital HR practices, and cultural mindsets to map the current state of agile HR strategy among MSMEs in Southeast Asia. Novelty – The novelty of this research lies in its comparative framework that integrates secondary policy data, literature-based agility indicators, and qualitative thematic insights from recent studies between 2019 and 2024. Unlike prior works that often focus on large enterprises or single-country analysis, this study uniquely captures SHRA patterns across three ASEAN nations, offering a holistic macro–micro view. Method – This study adopts a qualitative-comparative method using secondary data sources such as ASEAN SME Index, World Bank, ILO, and national statistics agencies, supported by thematic synthesis from peer-reviewed literature. The analysis follows a case-based, cross-national approach supported by four structured data tables. Findings – The findings show that Vietnam leads in structured SHRA adoption due to stronger institutional coordination, while Indonesia lags despite a large MSME population. The Philippines displays moderate agility, with digital innovation concentrated in startup ecosystems. Across countries, digital HR tools remain underutilized. Limitations and Implications – This study is limited by its reliance on literature-based and secondary data, and its scope is restricted to three countries. However, it provides actionable insights for policymakers and MSME stakeholders to enhance HR agility as a pathway to inclusive digital development.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines how circular economy (CE) practices are developed through social innovation and community engagement in developing countries. It highlights CE not only as an environmental strategy but also as a pathway toward inclusive and sustainable development. Addressing the fragmented nature of CE literature, which often prioritizes technical efficiency while overlooking social participation, institutional support, and gender responsiveness, the study seeks to clarify how CE can be strengthened through grassroots entrepreneurship, community-led innovation, and multi-actor collaboration. Novelty – The originality of this research lies in integrating CE and social innovation literature with a specific focus on MSMEs in developing regions. By combining bibliometric and systematic review methods, the study moves beyond descriptive accounts and identifies theoretical mechanisms, key actors, and structural gaps that remain underexplored in mainstream CE scholarship. Method – A mixed-method approach was employed, integrating a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with bibliometric analysis. A total of 189 Scopus-indexed articles published between 2010 and 2025 were selected using the PRISMA protocol. The Bibliometrix R-package was applied to examine keyword co-occurrence, thematic clusters, citation inequality, and author collaboration patterns, with particular attention to Global North–South imbalances. Findings – Results demonstrate a gradual shift in CE discourse in developing regions from technical-environmental models toward socially embedded approaches. Social innovation through women-led enterprises, cooperative networks, and community-based entrepreneurship emerges as a critical driver of inclusivity. The review also identifies three conceptual gaps: (1) limited theorization of inclusivity mechanisms in CE, (2) a lack of longitudinal and comparative studies, and (3) weak South–South collaboration and knowledge exchange. Limitations and Implications – This study is limited to English-language, Scopus-indexed publications, which may exclude grey or local-language literature, and it acknowledges methodological biases related to citation inequality and the dominance of Global North perspectives. Nonetheless, the findings provide actionable implications: policymakers should integrate gender-responsive policies into CE programs, strengthen local institutional support for MSMEs, and foster South–South learning platforms. Practitioners are encouraged to co-create inclusive CE models through multi-actor partnerships that enhance resilience, legitimacy, and long-term sustainability.

Abstract

This study explores the role of digital communication strategies in strengthening the resilience and post-crisis recovery of coastal communities, with a specific focus on Bontang Kuala, a floating settlement in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach and a case study design, the research examines how localized digital practices support socio-economic adaptation in a vulnerable coastal setting. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and secondary sources, then analyzed thematically using NVivo. Findings reveal that digital platforms particularly WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram have become crucial tools for coordination, economic revitalization, and social solidarity during recovery periods. Community-led digital initiatives, such as online tourism campaigns and crowdfunding, demonstrated the potential of digital media to enhance collective action and restore livelihoods. However, digital inequality persists due to uneven access, literacy gaps, and connectivity limitations, particularly among older fishermen and women entrepreneurs. The study concludes that digital communication functions not merely as a technological solution but as a social mechanism fostering collaborative resilience and adaptive learning. The results offer theoretical contributions to digital resilience communication and practical implications for inclusive digital transformation policies in coastal regions.
