Abstract

Bagan perahu merupakan salah satu alat tangkap yang digunakan oleh nelayan di Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara (PPN) Sibolga, Sumatera Utara. Namun, tingkat keramahan lingkungannya perlu dikaji karena alat tangkap ini sering menangkap berbagai spesies yang bukan merupakan target utama (by catch) dan memiliki ukuran mata jaring yang relatif kecil, yaitu 0,5 inci. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat keramahan lingkungan alat tangkap bagan perahu (boat lift nets) berdasarkan Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF) di PPN Sibolga. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Tangkahan Murni, salah satu tangkahan yang berada di wilayah kerja PPN Sibolga, pada tanggal 30 April hingga 28 Mei 2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui survei dan wawancara menggunakan kuesioner. Pemilihan responden dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 10 unit kapal bagan perahu dari total 52 unit yang ada di PPN Sibolga. Responden terdiri atas anak buah kapal (ABK), nahkoda, pengurus kapal, petugas penyortir ikan, konsumen, dan masyarakat setempat. Peubah yang diamati mengacu pada sembilan kriteria CCRF. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alat tangkap bagan perahu di PPN Sibolga memperoleh skor 28, yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat ramah lingkungan. Berdasarkan pedoman FAO (1995), skor 28–36 diklasifikasikan sebagai alat tangkap yang sangat ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Kawasan Ekowisata Mangrove Pangkal Babu berpotensi sebagai kawasan wisata bahari sekaligus penahan abrasi pantai. Namun, meningkatnya dampak abrasi serta rendahnya tingkat keberhasilan rehabilitasi mangrove menunjukkan perlunya peningkatan kapasitas masyarakat dalam mitigasi bencana pesisir. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat pesisir dalam mengenali dinamika pantai, menentukan lokasi potensial penanaman mangrove, serta menggunakan teknologi Geographical Information System (GIS) untuk pemetaan perubahan garis pantai dan daerah rawan abrasi. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif melalui kegiatan sosialisasi, diskusi kelompok terarah. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui wawancara dan observasi langsung terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan masyarakat terkait fungsi dan manfaat ekosistem mangrove, proses oseanografi penyebab abrasi dan akresi, serta teknik pemilihan lokasi penanaman mangrove. Program ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap keberlanjutan pengelolaan ekowisata mangrove sekaligus mendukung strategi pemerintah dalam percepatan rehabilitasi ekosistem pesisir berbasis masyarakat.

Abstract

Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) is a promising aquaculture commodity at the UPTD Marine and Brackish Water Aquaculture Center (BPBALP) Teluk Buo, Padang City, due to its fast growth and high environmental adaptability. This study aimed to describe the growth techniques of Asian seabass cultured at BPBALP Teluk Buo and was conducted from July to September 2025 using a quantitative descriptive survey method. Growth performance was assessed through direct observation and measurement. The results showed an absolute weight gain of 123.6 g, length gain of 10.19 cm, a specific growth rate of 3.69%, feed efficiency of 68.5%, an FCR of 1.46, and a survival rate of 100%. Water quality remained within optimal ranges, with temperatures of 31–32 °C, pH 7, and salinity of 30–31 ppt.

Abstract

Natural feed plays a crucial role as a primary nutrient source that is easily digested and suitable for the physiological needs of larvae during early life stages. Nannochloropsis sp. is widely used as a main natural feed for larvae of various aquaculture commodities, making its stable and high-quality availability essential for hatchery success. This study aimed to evaluate Nannochloropsis sp. culture techniques at semi-mass and mass scales and to determine cell density as an indicator of feed quality. The study employed direct observation during the culture period and descriptive analysis of cell density and water quality. Culture procedures at both scales included tank preparation, seawater filling, inoculation, cell density measurement, and harvesting, with differences only in tank size and inoculum volume. Results showed that peak cell density on day five reached 42,326,000 cells/mL in the semi-mass scale and 39,400,000 cells/mL in the mass scale, followed by a decline on day six. The study concludes that the Nannochloropsis sp. culture technique applied at UPTD BPBALP Teluk Buo is effective in supporting phytoplankton supply for hatchery operations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the spawning techniques of Leptobarbus hoevenii fish at the Sungai Gelam Freshwater Aquaculture Center (BPBAT). Activities include maintaining prospective broodstock, selecting mature broodstock, injecting ovulation hormones, and the spawning process, stripping, egg handling, water quality monitoring to highlight its importance, and embryo development. Ovaprim hormone injections were administered to the female broodstock four times and once to the male broodstock to stimulate ovulation. The stripping process was carried out after ovulation and was followed by dry mixing of eggs and sperm before being spread into the hatching tank. The results showed a fertilization rate of 63,08% and a hatching rate of 9,73%, which were influenced by gamete quality and the physiological condition of the broodstock. Observations of embryogenesis showed developmental stages ranging from morula, blastula, gastrula, to organogenesis before the eggs hatch into larvae. Water quality parameters during the study were in the optimal range for spawning, namely pH 7,24–7,77, temperature 27–30,5°C, and DO 3,53–5,58 mg/L. The results of this study explain that the success of Hoven’s carp fish seeding is highly dependent on the readiness of the broodstock, the application of artificial spawning techniques, and good water quality management.
