Abstract

Corn farmers in Karandu Village, Konawe Regency, repeatedly experience crop failures caused by pest outbreaks, drought, flooding, and unpredictable climate conditions, which undermine household economic stability. This study aims to explain how social capital supports farmers’ resilience in facing crop failure, focusing on bonding, bridging, and linking social capital. A descriptive qualitative design was employed involving 12 purposively selected informants, consisting of eight corn farmers, two collectors, the village head, and one agricultural extension worker. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis, and were analysed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings show that crop failure reduces farmers’ incomes, increases dependence on informal loans, and forces households to reduce essential expenditures. However, farmers continue corn cultivation by mobilising bonding social capital through cooperation, seed sharing, and labour exchange; bridging social capital through flexible credit and market relations with collectors; and linking social capital through support from village government, extension workers, and agricultural institutions. These findings indicate that strengthening social capital is essential for enhancing the resilience of smallholder corn farmers in areas prone to recurrent crop failure.

Abstract

This study examines how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) functions as a social investment chain to develop digital capabilities and enhance employability through institutional practices within secondary schools. Building on the evolving perspective of CSR-from a moral obligation to a strategy for creating shared value-this research employs a qualitative case study approach at SMK Forward Nusantara Depok, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving company representatives, school leaders, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that CSR extends beyond merely providing resources; it operates as a multi-tiered process encompassing investment in digital access, institutional capacity building, and the cultivation of student employability. Digital facilities are transformed into sustainable learning practices through teacher training, curriculum integration, and school governance, enabling students to produce digital projects, build portfolios, and foster independent learning. These practices exemplify social investment mechanisms at the micro level that cultivate future-oriented capabilities. This study contributes to the CSR and welfare literature by conceptualizing CSR as a social investment chain grounded in institutional practices and offers practical implications for designing CSR programs focused on educational capacity building. Keywords: Corporate Social Responsibility, Vocational Education Quality, Industry-Education Collaboration   Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) berfungsi sebagai rantai investasi sosial dalam pengembangan kapabilitas digital dan peningkatan daya kerja (employability) melalui praktik-praktik institusional di tingkat sekolah menengah kejuruan.

Abstract

The rapid increase in internet use among elementary students has not been matched by adequate digital literacy, exposing them to risks such as cyberbullying, disinformation, and misuse of personal data. This study examined the effectiveness of the Safe Internet Education Program in enhancing students’ digital literacy in Palarahi Village, Southeast Sulawesi. Using a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design, the program was implemented through eight interactive sessions involving 85 students from two public elementary schools. The results showed a significant improvement in digital literacy scores, increasing from a mean of 52.3 to 78.6 (p < 0.001) with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.31). The proportion of students in the high literacy category rose from 4.7% to 85.9%, while those in the low category dropped to 0%. The greatest improvement occurred in personal data security, followed by information evaluation and digital communication. The study concludes that structured and participatory digital education can effectively strengthen children’s competence and online safety. This model offers a measurable framework to support the implementation of the National Digital Literacy Movement (#Siberkreasi) in rural and non-metropolitan areas.

Abstract

The psychological impact of cyberbullying on new students in the Social Welfare Study Program at Universitas Halu Oleo is the main focus of this study. The purpose of this research is to understand how the experience of cyberbullying affects the mental well-being of students who are adapting to campus life. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was used, where data were collected through in-depth interviews with students who had been victims of cyberbullying. The findings of the study indicate that cyberbullying significantly impacts three key psychological aspects: anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. The majority of the students interviewed reported ongoing anxiety, worrying about further dissemination of personal information. Depression was also found to be a common impact, with students feeling a loss of motivation and isolation from their peers. Additionally, nearly all participants reported a significant decline in self-esteem after experiencing online bullying. Based on these findings, the study recommends developing cyberbullying prevention programs on campus and providing more accessible psychological support services. It is hoped that these efforts will help new students overcome the psychological effects of cyberbullying and enable them to navigate their transition to university life in a healthier social and academic environment.

Abstract

This study examines the role of social media in the digital advocacy practices of social workers at the Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) of Kendari City in handling domestic violence (DV) cases. Employing a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the study integrated content analysis and engagement metrics of the DP3A's official social media accounts on Instagram, Threads, and Facebook (Quantitative Phase) with semi-structured in-depth interviews with social workers, social media administrators, and DV survivors (Qualitative Phase). A total of 73 posts were analyzed. Findings reveal that institutional activity content dominates (42.5%), while service-oriented content, including reporting procedures, contact information, and confidentiality assurances, remains markedly limited. Advocacy and campaign content generated the highest average engagement (10.0 per post), indicating audience responsiveness to social messaging. Qualitative findings indicate that survivors prefer private communication channels due to fear and stigma, suggesting that low public engagement does not equate to content ineffectiveness. A digital advocacy process model encompassing four phases, digital information exposure, initial contact, preliminary assessment, and formal service referral, is proposed. The study recommends strengthening survivor-centered content strategies, developing digital response protocols, and fostering cross-sector collaboration to optimize social media as an advocacy instrument for domestic violence services.
