Abstract

Knowledge management has a crucial role in higher education institutions to achieve competitive advantages, spur innovation, and adapt to changes that occur in the industry. In the Applied Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering Program at a polytechnic, the application of good knowledge management significantly improves the professionalism and ability of the graduates. However, the program faces demographic challenges: more than half of its teachers are aged 50 and over, and the results of the Internal Quality Audit (AMI) show that its competitiveness is still low. This issue raises concerns about the loss of core knowledge as well as the sustainability of undocumented knowledge transfer. This study aims to find these obscure areas as well as design a knowledge management strategy by combining AMI methods and Knowledge Management Capability Assessment (KMCA) to assess the state of the organization. Actor analysis was carried out using Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM), and strategy priorities were prepared using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) Method, which involved 12 experts (from academia and practitioners). The results of the KMCA assessment indicate that the organization's current capabilities are 2.5 out of 5, confirming the high uncertainty arising from knowledge management systems that still depend on individuals. Based on the weighting of AHP, this study proposes four main strategies io mitigate these uncertainties: (1) the development of integrated digital platforms to support higher education management (51.3%), (2) increasing the integration of industrial knowledge (51.7%), (3) optimizing local knowledge (49.9%), and (4) implementing community-based knowledge management strategies (50.6%). As a follow-up, future research should focus on developing evaluation models to assess the effectiveness of digital platforms and on exploring the use of knowledge to align curriculum with industry needs.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the impact of knowledge management on team member performance, with a focus on the mediating role of team member creativity, within the context of higher education institutions as strategic contributors to sustainable economic development.Method: This research adopts a quantitative explanatory approach, utilizing a survey methodology that includes 100 respondents, comprising lecturers and educational staff from a university located in Central Java, Indonesia. Data were gathered through a closed-ended Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed employing the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method, facilitated by SmartPLS software.Result: The findings of the study reveal that knowledge management exerts a positive and significant influence on team member performance, both directly and indirectly through team member creativity as a mediating variable. Furthermore, team member creativity has been identified as a critical factor in enhancing the relationship between knowledge management and individual performance.Practical Implications for Economic Growth and Development: These results provide substantial practical implications, indicating that the implementation of effective knowledge management practices can cultivate a creative, innovative, and productive organizational culture, thereby contributing to knowledge-based economic growth within the higher education sector. This research contributes theoretically by deepening the understanding of creativity as a cognitive mechanism within the Knowledge-Based View framework, while also offering practical insights for institutional leaders to develop policies aimed at enhancing human resource capabilities.Originality/Value: This study presents an integrative model that explores the mediating role of psychological variables within a theoretical framework pertinent to the reinforcement of knowledge-based organizations in the higher education sector.

Abstract

Indonesia continues to face recurring challenges in ensuring the availability and affordability of cooking oil, one of its most essential household commodities. Fluctuating prices, supply chain inefficiencies, weak distribution monitoring, and limited stakeholder coordination often lead to market instability and public discontent. Existing mechanisms have not fully addressed issues of equity, transparency, and resilience, risking national food security, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic justice. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is widely recognized as a decision-support tool, yet it has faced criticism due to the inconsistency of its pairwise comparison scale and its inability to fully capture uncertainty and complexity. To address this issue in the context of cooking oil trade, a questionnaire was administered to 12 experts with substantial knowledge of Indonesia’s cooking oil sector. To strengthen the effectiveness and resilience of Indonesia’s cooking oil trading system, a strategic assessment using AHP compared four alternatives. The combined approach of targeted subsidies and digitalized distribution emerged as the most promising, offering a data-driven solution to ensure fair and efficient allocation. This strategy integrates economic equity with operational efficiency, requiring a shift toward digital infrastructure, multi-sectoral collaboration, and proactive, real-time decision-making.
