Abstract

Cholelithiasis patients experience gallstone obstruction which causes the patient to feel pain in the abdomen, the pain makes the patient feel anxious to do activities or mobilization. Anxiety and pain can be overcome with non-pharmacological measures, one of which is guided imagery therapy. Guided imagery relaxation techniques can be used to restore hormonal balance in the body after experiencing disorders, making the body feel more relaxed overall. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of guided imagery on anxiety levels and pain scales in cholelithiasis patients at Sari Asih Hospital. Method: A quasi-experimental study with a pre-experiment one group pre-post test design involving 35 cholelithiasis patients at Sari Asih Hospital was taken using consecutive sampling techniques. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi square test. Results: The results of the univariate analysis showed that before the intervention the majority of anxiety was severe (71.4%) and pain was moderate (62.9%), while, after the intervention the majority of anxiety was mild (51.4%) and pain was mild (62.9%). Bivariate analysis results showed an effect of guided imagery on anxiety (p=0.000) and pain (p=0.000) in cholelithiasis patients. Conclusion: Guided imagery has an effect on anxiety and pain in cholelithiasis patients at Sari Asih Hospital.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the health sector has given birth to various health learning applications, one of which is a special education application for hypertension. This study aims to determine the effect of hypertension learning on anxiety levels in hypertension patients at Sari Asih Hospital, Serang. Method: This study uses a quantitative approach with a pretest & posttest design, using a total sampling technique. Hypothesis testing uses a marginal homogeneity test. The questionnaire uses the Zung Self Anxiety Scale. Results: The P Value is: 0.157 which is greater than 0.05 (>0.05), which means there is no significant difference between anxiety levels before and after the intervention. The correlation coefficient (r) cannot be calculated because all anxiety values in the post-test are in one category, namely all mild (there is no data variation). The direction of the relationship is positive, because it is towards improvement in all (towards mild), the density of the relationship is clinically strong, because 100% of the post-test results are in the best category (mild). Conclusion: Although no statistically significant differences were found, the Hypertension Learning application was clinically effective in maintaining and improving anxiety levels in hypertensive patients. These findings support the theory that digital education increases self-efficacy, reduces perceived threat of illness, and improves psychological responses in chronic patients. Therefore, Hypertension Learning continues to have important practical and clinical value as part of technology-based nursing interventions in the era of digital transformation in healthcare.

Abstract

Background: Postoperative orthopedic pain resulting from surgical trauma and inflammatory response is a major problem commonly experienced by patients. Despite pharmacological therapy, many patients continue to experience moderate to severe pain, necessitating complementary non-pharmacological interventions. Purpose: To determine the effect of the deep breathing relaxation technique in reducing pain intensity among postoperative orthopedic patients. Method: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. A total of 40 postoperative orthopedic patients participated, selected using total sampling. Pain was assessed using the Verbal Descriptor Scale (VDS). Univariate analysis was used to describe respondents' demographic characteristics, while bivariate analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: Following the intervention, 80% of the intervention group (n=16) experienced decreased pain intensity, while the control group showed no change. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a statistically significant difference in pain levels between pre-intervention and post-intervention measurements (p = 0.000). Conclusion: Deep breathing relaxation technique effectively reduces pain intensity in postoperative orthopedic patients. Implementation of this non-pharmacological intervention in routine postoperative care protocols is recommended to enhance multimodal pain management.

Abstract

Nurses are healthcare workers who have a high workload because they are in direct contact with patients 24 hours a day. Complex tasks, limited manpower, and high service demands often cause work stress. Unresolved stress can affect nurses' health, reduce performance, and even impact patient safety. This study aims to investigate the relationship between stress levels and workloads among nurses at Semarang General Hospital. The study design employs a cross-sectional approach with a quantitative methodology. The study population consists of all nurses in the inpatient ward of Semarang General Hospital, with a sample size of 80 respondents selected using proportional random sampling. The research instruments used the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire to measure stress and the NASA-TLX questionnaire to measure workload. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. The results of the study show that most nurses are in the moderate stress category (65%), while the highest workload is in the high category (58.8%). Bivariate analysis yielded a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.412, indicating a significant positive relationship between stress levels and nurses' workload. The higher the workload of nurses, the higher the stress levels they experience. Hospitals are encouraged to implement effective workload management, including proportional task distribution, additional staff, and stress management programs for nurses.

Abstract

Preoperative anxiety in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy is an important issue because it can affect the psychological and physiological condition, as well as the postoperative recovery process. This study aims to describe the level of anxiety in preoperative laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital (RSI) Semarang. This research used a quantitative descriptive design with a population of all preoperative laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients and a total sample of 91 respondents, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was performed using a questionnaire, which was then analyzed univariately to obtain the frequency distribution of anxiety levels. The results showed that most respondents were in the elderly group (41.8%), male (79.1%), employed (75.8%), and had no medical history (72.5%). The majority of respondents experienced moderate anxiety (73.6%), followed by mild anxiety (23.1%) and severe anxiety (3.3%). These findings indicate that most patients experience moderate anxiety before the surgical procedure. These results can serve as a basis for healthcare providers to deliver psychological interventions to reduce preoperative anxiety, such as providing adequate information, emotional support, and relaxation techniques to improve patient comfort and readiness for the medical procedure.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability, resulting in a decline in the quality of life of its sufferers. In addition to physical impairments, stroke patients often experience anxiety, which can hinder the recovery process and lower overall quality of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between anxiety levels and the quality of life of stroke patients. The research design used a correlational descriptive approach with a cross-sectional method. The study population consisted of stroke patients receiving care or rehabilitation in healthcare facilities, with a total sampling technique for sampling. The research instruments included an anxiety questionnaire and a quality of life questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using Somers’ d statistical test. The results showed that most stroke patients experienced moderate anxiety and had low quality of life. The Somers’ d test indicated a significant relationship between anxiety and the quality of life of stroke patients (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the higher the anxiety level, the lower the quality of life perceived by the patients. Therefore, healthcare providers are expected to not only focus on physical therapy but also provide psychological interventions to reduce anxiety, thus improving the quality of life of stroke patients.
