Abstract

This research intends to dig out the Senior High School students' needs in English reading materials development based on climate change material revised by students', and teachers' views. The data were obtained by applying a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The data are described both quantitatively and qualitatively. The outcomes of the need analysis represent that: 1) English is important to students' future careers, (2) students’ English proficiency is at the beginner level, 3) students still get some hardship in writing skills, 4) the type of text needed is an exposition text, 5) it has connected between English reading materials and the content subject materials, 6) students still run short of awareness about climate change material, 7) There is still the limitation of climate change as the English reading materials, 8) two major causes for connecting climate change material into educational materials are to increase the awareness of students. As a consequence of the needs, it is important to develop supplementary exposition reading materials by connecting climate change which fit the students’ English proficiency and can help out their study program.

Abstract

The research aims to review (1) the impact of the Pair Checks type cooperative learning model on students' thinking ability compared to conventional lessons in thematic lessons of fourth-grade elementary school, (2) the impact of the Pair Checks model on student achievement compared to conventional lessons in fourth-grade thematic lessons of elementary school, (3) the thinking ability of students who are taught based on the cooperative model of the Pair Checks type are high compared to the thinking ability of the students who are taught based on conventional learning, and (4) the relationship between learning achievement and thinking ability seen from the cooperative model of the type of Pair Checks. The critical thinking ability studied is critical thinking ability taught in an integrated manner. The place of research is SDN 08 Mandeh. The research method used was quasi-experimental with design research in One group pre-test and post-test design. The sample applied was class IVA, with 23 students. The information was collected by using a written exam. The data obtained are as follows (1) the thinking ability of students who apply the cooperative model are significantly higher than the thinking ability of students in learning using conventional methods because there is T_count = 1.78 T_table = 1.68 until H_0 is rejected and H_1 is accepted, (2) student achievement in learning that applies the cooperative model is significantly higher than student learning outcomes in learning using conventional methods because there are T_count = 2.02 T_table = 1.68 until H_0 is rejected and H_1 is accepted, (3) critical thinking ability of students are being taught based on the Pair Checks model, it is higher than the thinking ability of students in conventional lessons because based on low initial knowledge at a level of 0.05, it is found that T count T table with 0.178 1.68 until H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, and (4) there is a relationship between learning achievement and students' thinking ability on the pair checks model because there is a significant effective contribution between learning achievement and thinking ability with a percentage of 87.6% and the remaining 12.4 is influenced by other factors.

Therefore, after the pandemic disappeared as today, all parties must hand-in-hand make efforts to recover this field. This literature review aims to document the efforts of the Indonesian government in making the tourism industry recover as well as the challenges they faced. Five articles that represent the situation were taken from the national journals. These articles were analyzed using three steps of qualitative analysis, namely data classification, verification, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study reported that the Indonesian government made some programs to develop human resources in this industry, such as giving suitable training and workshops to the agencies they sent. On the other hand, the challenges are also faced by the government and entrepreneurs, especially when giving directions to the policy they made. This study is expected to give an overview about the efforts made in order to redevelop human resource as a way of reconstructing the tourism industry in Indonesia after the pandemic situation in the era of society 5.0.

Abstract

Learning during the COVID-19 period is a concern in the world of education. This is because the learning system has changed from the previous one and it has not been used by both students and teachers. In response to this, it is necessary to conduct action research using the Kemmis and McTaggart models on online-onsite mathematics learning, namely boldly through online platforms and the request of students. The subjects of this study were seventh-grade junior high school students who found 27 people. In contrast, the object of this research is to increase students’ creative problem-solving skills and increase teacher activity and student behaviour. Through the instruments used in online-onsite based learning, the results show that there is an increase in the percentage of classical learning completeness in creative problem-solving abilities of students who pass the minimum KKM in the 1st cycle from the percentage of initial ability results but have not shown achievement. While the results of observations of student behaviour and teacher activities meet the criteria achieved. Therefore, it is continued to cycle II by correcting the weakness in cycle I. The implementation of cycle II shows that all performance indicators have been achieved. Through these results, of course, it is a consideration that in improving problem-solving skills, it is recommended to do online-onsite based learning, especially in mathematics.

Abstract

Science literacy is very important to be mastered by students. In the literacy process, students need learning media that are in accordance with the characteristics of students and materials. Media design is based on a game design framework, namely empathic or analytical (emphatic), defining (define), developing ideas (ideate), making prototypes (prototyping), and testing (playtest). The stages of the game design framework are in line with the steps for selecting learning media, namely ASSURE. The design of Apollo and Comet media that is in accordance with these stages can produce media games that are not only able to entertain children, but also facilitate students to train their literacy skills. This research used a nonequivalent pretest posttest control group research design used for Quasi Experimental Design. Data on increasing scientific literacy was obtained by giving a pretest and posttest using a scientific literacy test sheet by adapting the PISA test.. Students' scientific literacy increased by 74.8562 with a high category based on the results of the N-Gain.

Brand reputation is important when choosing an education. Universities that already have a brand reputation can more easily attract prospective new students. There is a phenomenon where Private Universities are using extended brand reputation to compete. The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of brand extension reputation on the intention in choosing private universities. The quantitative research method of Structural Equation Modeling uses a structured questionnaire. The questionnaires have been distributed to the students, and have been completed by email. It is a self-administrated method. The survey was conducted on students at  one of Aperti (Aliansi Perguruan Tinggi) BUMN (Badan Usaha Milik Negara) with a total sample of 400 respondents using quota sampling. The results showed that the parent brand of BUMN had a significant influence on the extended brand of  Aperti BUMN, which impacted student intention  when choosing the university. Brand extension reputation has an indirect effect on intention  through output expectation

Abstract

Humanist literacy is an awareness of reading and understanding human phenomena that can be created through critical reading activities. Critical reading activities aim to reflect on the reading results so that they can make wise decisions on how to think and behave humanely. Decision-making skills need to be improved through critical reading learning with a humanist literacy approach. The problem so far is the unavailability of future learning designs by integrating humanist literacy through critical reading activities. Therefore, this study focuses on how to integrate humanist literacy in critical reading activities as an alternative direction for future language learning. The purpose of this study was to describe the grand design of integrating humanist literacy in critical reading activities as an alternative direction for future language learning. This research is a development research of one part of the development research procedure. The data for this study were sourced from the comments of lecturers and students from questionnaires distributed online. This research instrument was developed based on the concept of language learning, characteristics of humanist literacy, and characteristics of critical reading that have been validated. Data analysis was carried out critically reflectively by using tagCrow and AntCont applications. The results of the study prove that the grand design of integrating humanist literacy in critical reading activities can be carried out through communicating humanist literacy, collaborating humanist literacy, and humanist critical thinking with sub-skills of analyzing, interpreting, inferring, evaluating, explaining, and regulating oneself in a humanistic manner to make decisions. wisely according to the principles of humanistic life.
