Abstract

This study investigates students’ responses and learning outcomes in STEM education through a Project Based Learning (PjBL) approach focused on natural disaster simulations in fifth-grade elementary students. Although a digital STEM based disaster learning model has been shown to significantly improve elementary students’ disaster adaption abilities through quasi experimental research, existing studies generally emphasize digital simulations rather than real context thematic project experiences in primary schools. Therefore, the novelty of this research lies in the integration of STEM and PjBL within thematic learning for disaster context education, addressing a gap in studies at the elementary level, particulary in Indonesia. This descriptive quantitative study involved 15 students and employed learning outcome assessments and student response questionnaires. Results revealed that all students achieved mastery learning with an average score of 94.73. Student responses were highly positive, with an average questionnaire score of 3.80 out of 4, indicating strong engagement and improved conceptual understanding during the disaster simulation project. The integrated STEM-based PjBL approach fostered active student involvement, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of this model in enhancing elementary science learning quality and provide a promising approach for thematic, student centered instruction in disaster education contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a learning medium based on the visual programming language Scratch in enhancing tenth-grade students' understanding and learning outcomes of algorithmic concepts at SMAN 32 Jakarta. The study is motivated by the low level of student engagement during the learning process, primarily attributed to monotonous conventional teaching methods, limited student autonomy in learning, and the lack of interactive and engaging instructional media. Notably, supporting infrastructure, such as laboratories and technological devices, is already in place. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, with experimental testing through a Pre-test Post-test, Control Group design. Research instruments included questionnaires and learning outcome tests, with data analyzed using mean difference tests. Based on validation from experts and student feedback, the Scratch-based media was deemed highly feasible. Experimental results revealed a significant improvement in the learning outcomes of the experimental group compared to the control group, with a gain score reaching 72.4% by the second session. These findings indicate that Scratch-based instructional media is both feasible and effective in improving students' comprehension and achievement in algorithmic material. Therefore, it is recommended as a strategic alternative for teaching informatics.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of educational management in Islamic boarding schools (Islamic Boarding School ) from historical and digital perspectives, using Buntet Islamic Boarding School in Cirebon as a case study. Employing a qualitative-descriptive design with a historical approach, the research integrates literature review, field observation, and semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal three significant transformation dimensions: (1) the digitalization of management systems through applications such as Simapel and SIMATREN, which enhance accountability, transparency, and institutional efficiency; (2) curriculum transformation that integrates classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) with modern digital pedagogy, improving students' religious and technological literacy; and (3) the strengthening of Islamic Boarding School -based academic culture through research development, publication, and digital literacy training. The study concludes that the managerial transformation of Islamic Boarding School is not merely a response to modernization but an adaptive effort to harmonize spirituality and digital innovation in a hybrid management model. Recommendations include expanding digital literacy programs, training educators in educational technology, and fostering collaboration with external institutions to sustain innovation. This research contributes to the global discourse on Islamic educational management by demonstrating how faith-based schools can balance tradition and technological progress within a culturally grounded framework.

Abstract

The rapid development of globalization has influenced educational systems, requiring schools to strengthen character education. One effective approach to this effort is the implementation of religious culture through mentoring. This study aims to analyze how religious culture is implemented through mentoring at SD Negeri 05 Bojongbata. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that mentoring plays a pivotal role in enhancing students’ religious character and discipline. The implementation of religious culture through mentoring at SD Negeri 05 Bojongbata includes five main activities: (1) Smile, regards, greet; (2) Reading the Qur’an; (3) Congregational prayer; (4) Commemoration of Islamic holidays; and (5) Collective prayer. The analysis indicates that structured mentoring significantly strengthens character education by internalizing religious values into students’ daily school life. This study provides a new model for integrating mentoring into religious culture programs to strengthen character education in public elementary schools, offering theoretical and practical implications for religious and moral education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore teachers' creativity in the learning process through providing reinforcement to students and the impact resulting from the use of reinforcement. This is carried out because low motivation and initiative in student learning were found, thus requiring teacher creativity to address it. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that teachers have applied reinforcement creatively through storytelling methods, verbal and symbolic reinforcement, as well as assigning responsibilities oriented towards Islamic moral values. Teachers do not merely deliver material, but also serve as role models in attitude and behavior, so that the reinforcement given is not purely instructional, but also touches the emotional and spiritual aspects of students. This strategy is effective in fostering independent learning, marked by an increase in students' courage to ask questions, answer, and take the initiative to learn independently. These findings reinforce that teachers' creativity in providing reinforcement plays an important role in shaping students' character and intrinsic motivation in Akidah Akhlak learning.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of entrepreneurial management by primary school principals in addressing the limitations of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funding in Bireuen District, Aceh, Indonesia. Using a qualitative multiple case study design, the research explores how two public primary schools—SDN 8 Peusangan and SDN 18 Peusangan—develop and sustain entrepreneurship-based financial models under resource constraints. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed thematically with the aid of NVivo 12 software. The findings reveal that transformational leadership plays a central role in mobilizing internal resources, stimulating innovation, and fostering collective participation in entrepreneurial initiatives. Entrepreneurial programs such as canteens, herbal gardens, and school bazaars generated an average of 5.3% additional income relative to BOS funds and contributed to improving educational quality and financial transparency. Through the lens of the Resource-Based View (RBV), effectuation theory, and stakeholder theory, the study identifies dynamic capabilities in sensing and seizing opportunities, as well as building multi-level stakeholder collaboration for sustainable school financing. This research extends the literature by developing an integrative “Transformative-Effectual Model” that links transformational leadership with entrepreneurial management and dynamic capabilities within the context of basic education. Unlike prior studies that focus on higher education entrepreneurship, this study empirically demonstrates how elementary schools can transform limited resources into value-creating ventures, offering a replicable framework for education systems in developing regions. The results have implications for policy on hybrid school financing, leadership development, and innovation in public education governance.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education depends greatly on enhancing teacher performance, which remains a persistent challenge in many schools. Several studies indicate that low motivation, limited creativity in teaching, and minimal teacher participation in decision-making continue to hinder educational progress. This review examines how the transformational leadership style of principals influences teacher performance through motivation, commitment, discipline, and the development of a positive school culture. This study used a qualitative descriptive literature review to analyze eighteen peer-reviewed publications issued between 2018 and 2024. The review process included identifying, selecting, and synthesizing research related to principal leadership and teacher performance. The findings show that transformational leadership directly improves teacher motivation, job satisfaction, and commitment to the profession. It also reveals that these effects are reinforced by mediating factors such as work discipline, intrinsic motivation, and teacher commitment. Furthermore, a supportive school culture strengthens the overall impact of leadership, creating an environment that encourages collaboration, trust, and shared goals. The results suggest that transformational leadership is a key factor in promoting teacher professionalism and the overall quality of education. Principals who act as visionary leaders, motivators, and mentors can build a culture of continuous improvement within their schools. The study recommends further empirical research using longitudinal and comparative approaches to validate these findings and explore how different leadership frameworks can be integrated to support sustainable educational excellence.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the role of teachers in fostering the independence of children aged 5-6 years in Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur. The purpose of this study is to examine teachers' roles in fostering independence among children aged 5-6 years. Children's independence is an important aspect of development closely related to problem-solving skills and the formation of a responsible, confident character. This study uses a qualitative case study approach. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings of this study show that teachers serve as facilitators, role models, encouragers, and consistent rule-makers to instill independent habits in children. The steps taken include providing real examples, providing verbal encouragement, positive appreciation, and providing opportunities for children to complete tasks independently. Simple activities such as eating, putting on shoes, buttoning clothes, and tidying up toys are practical for developing a sense of responsibility and problem-solving skills. This study emphasizes the importance of consistency in habituation, a supportive environment, and cooperation between teachers and parents to increase children's independence from an early age.
