Abstract

This article presents the concept of the soul from Ibn Sinā's perspective and its substantiation in Islamic education. The soul is one of the major psychological topics which has been explored by Muslim scholars. Among them was Ibn Sinā, a Muslim philosopher, who emphasized the study of the human soul. His mental conception of the soul was so well-developed that it received much attention and appreciation from later Islamic philosophers such as al-Ghazāli, Fakhruddin al-Rāzi, Ibn Rushd and Western scholars. This article explores Ibn Sinā's concept of the soul and its substance in Islamic education. The methodology employed is a literature review together with qualitative research using exploratory, descriptive, and analytical approaches. Ibn Sinā argued that the soul is a living spiritual substance inspiring the body and forms the infrastructure for acquiring knowledge and transforming it in real life. In contrast to the body, the soul is immaterial and eternal. Islamic education cannot be separated from the psychological elements elucidated by Ibn Sinā and must incorporate relevant psychological aspects in order to fully develop the potential of students towards becoming exemplary human beings (insān kāmil).

Abstract

This development research was conducted at MTs Ma'arif Ketegan Sidoarjo. The types of data obtained are qualitative and quantitative data. The survey results showed that 50% of teachers developed their own affective assessment instruments but 87.5% of teachers admitted that these instruments were not valid and reliable. Then as many as 81.3% of teachers chose to use the observation method in assessing student effectiveness during online learning, because it is considered the easiest. As many as 62.5% of teachers do not understand that affective assessment of students in online learning can be done using the self-assessment method. The instrument is presented in a Google Form which contains 50 contextual statement points with a Likert Scale. The content validation score with the Aiken's V formula obtained a score of less than 1 for each statement item. Construct validation is a follow-up to the input of the supervisor and the theory that has been analyzed. External validation shows an increase in instrument models that are more applicable and adaptive. Instrument stability obtained a score of 0.885 so it was concluded that it was less reliable for a significant level of 1% and reliable for a significant level of 5%. The instrument equivalence data shows that there is no significant change in the results of the original and alternative instruments. Internal consistency with the Cronbach Alpha coefficient obtained a score of 0.92 with a very high category. The instrument also has a practical and efficient title. Thus this instrument is considered valid, reliable, useful, and valid. The response given by this instrument is said to be valid, reliable, practical and valid.

Abstract

Islamic integrated instruction connects the teaching of knowledge, concepts, and skills in a particular subject matter with the Quran and the Hadith to promote desirable characteristics in Aqidah, Ibadah, and Akhlaq. This study formulated a model for integrating Islamic values and the contexts of Thailand’s three southern border provinces (Deep South) into mathematics instruction for secondary students. The constructed approach comprised learning activities administered in six steps, including 1) attention-grabbing, 2) presenting contents, 3) validating, 4) building awareness, 5) practical training, and 6) presenting outcomes. Suggestions included teachers exploring and utilizing Islamic content relevant to lessons or local contexts for lessons less related to Islamic knowledge and allowing students to recognize presented mathematic and Islamic bodies of knowledge for further connections to their daily lives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze physical education conducted at MAS Istiqomah Sri Gunting based on the perspective of Islamic education philosophy. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach, and the tools used as data collectors are observations, interviews, document studies, and data analysis techniques through data collection steps, data reduction, data presentation, conclusion: Withdrawal/Verification, and validity testing. The results showed that the purpose of physical education at MAS Istiqomah Sri Gunting had not been based on the philosophy of Islamic education because it has not entirely followed health rules in dressing, following health rules about housing, maintaining hygiene, treating diseases, getting used to exercising and regulating eating and drinking patterns. The purpose of physical education is carried out based on the objectives of the educational curriculum used today as recommended by the government. This is reinforced by the absence of learning materials or actions that lead to the habits advocated through the Qur'an and hadith, as well as the opinions of scholars. As the hadith recommended, there were no student learning activities in archery, horse riding, or swimming. So it can be concluded, based on the analysis of the philosophy of Islamic education physical education conducted at MAS Istiqomah Sri Gunting, the objectives and implementation cannot be said to be sourced from the Quran, hadith, and the opinions of scholars as the source of Islamic educational philosophy.
